Defenses to Stream – Week 5 NFL Fantasy Football

DFS Army’s Gthom goes over the defenses to stream this week. The defenses to stream listed below are normally found in at least 40-percent of leagues. We absolutely crushed Week 4 with this article and the defenses listed scored an average of 9.25 fantasy points.

Follow Gthom on the cesspool they call twitter, @GarettThomas.

Denver D/ST vs Indianapolis Colts

Available in 71% of Sleeper Leagues

This play really starts and ends with the Colts’ quarterback, Matt Ryan. Matty Ice has the most turnovers in the NFL with eight: five interceptions and three fumbles lost. Crazy enough he has fumbled NINE times this season and only lost three of them. Ryan also has been sacked on 8.9-percent of his drop backs, the highest of his career. The Broncos have recorded 11 sacks on the year, that is tied for the sixth-most in the NFL. Denver is a wonderful option for streaming and has rest-of-season value as well.

Minnesota D/ST vs Chicago Bears

Available in 74% of Sleeper Leagues

Minnesota will be facing the mightily struggling Chicago Bears’ offense, which is led by quarterback Justin Fields. Fields had the highest quarterback interception percentage in 2021 with 3.7-percent; in 2022 he still leads the pack with a 6-percent interception rate. The Bears have also allowed 16 sacks, the second most in the NFL. It is no surprise that D/STs facing the Chicago Bears have finished as the overall 21st, 12th, 5th and 1st best D/ST, respectively. This Bears team is in trouble and it could get ugly this week on the road.

Miami D/ST @ New York Jets

Available in 89% of Sleeper Leagues

Another quarterback to attack with streaming defenses is New York’s Zach Wilson. Last season Wilson finished with the sixth-highest interception percentage in the league, 2.9-percent. Through 14 NFL games he has averaged one turnover per game. This is Wilson’s second game back from injury and in his last contest, he threw two interceptions to the Pittsburgh-D. The Jets also allow a modest 2.33 sacks per contest which further helps Miami’s projected floor. The Miami D/ST likely won’t score a ton of fantasy points this week, but they should keep you in the green as one of the defenses to stream.

Detroit D/ST @ New England Patriots

Available in 96% of Sleeper Leagues

Once again the New England quarterback situation could be messy. Brian Hoyer was slated to start against Green Bay last week but was injured and could not finish the game. Third-string rookie QB, Bailey Zappe, stepped in and finished 10-for-15 with 99 passing yards and one touchdown. Targeting backup QBs can be a recipe for success with streaming D/STs. However, Detroit’s D/ST averages 2.3-FPPG, a league-worst. Last week they gave up 48 points to the Seahawks at home. Buyer-beware, but Detroit is worth starting if these other options are not available.
