My Take on a Consistent MLB DFS Process – Looking at Pitchers
I always start an MLB slate by looking at pitching, not only do you get a grasp on who the pitchers are that you want to target, but gives you a holistic look at the slate as well. Breaking down pitching also gives you an idea of what offenses are in good spots against bad/vulnerable pitchers. I start my research by going straight to the MLB Carnage Report this is where we can analyze all the pitchers on the slate in a compact, yet detailed manner. Below are the three pitchers that jumped out to me at first glance, good or bad.

Cincinnati Reds @ Pittsburgh Pirates (-145)
Pitchers:
Reds – Chase Anderson
Pirates – Roansy Contreras
Rundown:
This game opened with a total of 8. I really love Contreras and his future at the MLB level. I would think that he is allowed to throw 80-90 pitches in his 2nd to last start of the season. He has allowed just 2 runs in 10 innings against CIN this season. Reynolds comes into this game hot and he has had success against Anderson in their previous match-ups. The Pirates have a few guys who can go deep in this match-up but Anderson might not be a bad SP2 on DK for GPP purposes.

Atlanta Braves (-250) @ Washington Nationals
Pitchers:
Braves – Bryce Elder
Nationals – Cory Abbott
Rundown:
This game has opened with a total of 9. Elder just shut down this WSH team and he has allowed just 2 runs over his last 3 MLB starts, while racking up 22 Ks. He’s the obvious chalk at SP on this 4 game slate. I think the Braves offense does a little bit of damage tonight and I wouldn’t be shocked if it’s led by HRs from Riley and Olson. Meneses just keeps producing for WSH. He’s been really impressive for a 30-year old, career minor leaguer.

Blue Jays – Kevin Gausman
Rundown:
This game has opened with a total of 7.5. I haven’t decided just yet but I almost have to ride Judge until he hits at least #61. It helps that he has had plenty of power success against Gausman (3 HRs, 2 2Bs in 22 AB’s). I know this game has the lowest total on the board but I would NOT be shocked if it ended up as the highest scoring game by the end of the night. Severino looked strong in his IL return, but he may go only throw 75-ish pitches in this one.
NYY 5-star plays: Aaron Judge
4-star plays: Gleyber Torres, Giancarlo Stanton

Rundown:
This game has opened with a total of 9.5. This game has the highest total on the slate but it’s not easy to want to stack either team with how they’ve swung it recently. I know the BOS team ISO is pretty strong but there have been a TON of outs in the lineup recently. I want to trust the numbers with these teams (BvP, pitcher splits) more than the recent team hitting trends. This will be the most popular game to stack on the slate.
