Defenses to Stream – Week 3 NFL Fantasy Football

DFS Army’s Gthom goes over the defenses to stream this week. The D/STs listed below are normally found in at least 40-percent of leagues.

Follow Gthom on the cesspool they call twitter, @GarettThomas.

Los Angeles Chargers D/ST vs Jacksonville Jaguars

I would remove this play if the Chargers’ quarterback Justin Herbert misses the game.

The Jags look to be improved this season, how much remains to be seen as they have played bad teams back-to-back to start the year. Quarterback Trevor Lawrence looked solid at home in Week 2, but he seemed to be mistake prone in Week 1 against the Commanders. Insert the Chargers D/ST in Week 3.

The Chargers have an elite pass rush and have already recorded seven sacks in two weeks. This has helped the Chargers secure three takeaways in the same aforementioned time frame. With the pressured turned up perhaps we will see the 2021 version of Trevor Lawrence, where he turned the ball over 22 times (only a single turnover in 2022 so far).

The Chargers are also 7-point favorites according to oddsmakers and that is a large favoring. With this in mind, there is pick-six upside on this LAC defense as Lawrence will be fighting from behind.

They are a little more difficult to find on waivers, but the Chargers’ D/ST is available in 45-percent of Sleeper leagues. Be willing to burn a low-priority waiver position and 5-percent of FAAB. Their next three opponents are JAC, @HOU and @CLE.

New Orleans Saints D/ST @ Carolina Panthers

Picking road defenses can be tough but you should be confident with the Saints in Week 2.

Carolina has serious offensive issues so far in two games: they can’t get CMC going consistently; DJ Moore feels left out of this offense at times (though did get going halfway into Week 2); Mayfield is still a bad NFL quarterback; and this offense has not finished drives in 2022.

The Panthers have allowed four sacks so far this season, accompanied with three turnovers. On the other side the Saints have forced six turnovers through two games. Getting Mayfield uncomfortable will be key. There is a small amount of worry about the Saints’ pass rush. New Orleans only has one sack through two games.

The Saints are available in 52-percent of Sleeper leagues. Do not blow a high-priority waiver position on this defense. 3-percent FAAB is all you should be willing to offer for them.

Seattle Seahawks D/ST vs Atlanta Falcons

At home amongst their fans, this team will be competitive against NFL teams. Seattle likes to play a very slow pace of play and Atlanta does not like to play an up-tempo offense either. Points may become a premium if Seattle keeps this game close. Seattle’s defense has to keep them in games in order to win and they are favored to win.

There is turnover upside with Atlanta being on the road and CenturyLink Field being deafening. Atlanta’s quarterback Marcus Mariota is tied for the second most turnovers by any player in the NFL with four. Additionally, the Falcons have the fourth-most turnovers in the NFL through two weeks.

There have been three sacks recorded by Seattle’s D/ST through two games. You should not expect Seattle to wrack up a bunch of sacks against Atlanta, this is due to Mariota’s mobility.

Seattle is available in 98-percent of Sleeper leagues. I would not utilize a waiver priority, or any FAAB, for this D/ST.
