Main MLB Slate Player Projections and Stacks:

Toronto Blue Jays (-156) @ Boston Red Sox (+134)

Implied Run Totals:

Blue Jays – 5.9 IRT

Red Sox – 4.8 IRT

Rundown:

We’ll open up the day with Ross Stripling heading into Fenway to take on this Boston lineup. Keep an eye on the Weather Station for this game, it looks like the hitting weather will be pretty perfect… hot with the wind blowing out pretty heavily. Stripling is coming off of a really nice game last time out where he put up over 30 DraftKings points against the Phillies. I don’t think I want to chase that performance against a good Boston lineup especially due to his low pitch counts, however. That being said, this Boston lineup is really watered down right now with Trevor Story, JD Martinez, and Rafael Devers all banged up. Then Brayan Bello will get the start for Boston, he’s burned me both times he’s started this season and probably won’t be a guy I go back to here. He has shown elite strikeout stuff in the minors which is why I’ve been attacking him, but I don’t see a reason to do so against this hot-hitting Toronto lineup. However, now that I say that… he’ll have his best start of the season, so maybe just play a sprinkle for your own sanity.

TOR 5-star plays: Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Bo Bichette

4-star plays: George Springer, Alejandro Kirk, Teoscar Hernandez

GPP Note: The Blue Jays look like an elite stack here once again.

BOS 5-star plays: Xander Bogaerts

4-star plays: Jarren Duran, Alex Verdugo

GPP Note: I’d have a lot more interest in this team if they were at full strength.

Los Angeles Angels (+184) @ Atlanta Braves (-217)

Implied Run Totals:

Angels – 3.7 IRT

Braves – 5.5 IRT

Rundown:

Reid Detmers will take the mound for the Angels and likely won’t make my pitching pool simply due to the matchup with this Braves team. They’re all swinging hot bats and the lineup is loaded, so it’s a no thanks from me. Speaking of Atlanta, they’ll send Ian Anderson to the mound in a solid matchup against an Angels team that will continue to be without Mike Trout. Anderson hasn’t been great this season with a 19.5% strikeout rate and a 4.79 ERA. His xERA is slightly below that at 4.26, so maybe he has some positive regression coming his way. All in all, I think he’s in play here as a cheap SP2 if you need it.

LAA 5-star plays: Shohei Ohtani

4-star plays: Taylor Ward, Jared Walsh, Jo Adell

GPP Note: More of a mini-stack than anything, this lineup isn’t very good at the moment.

ATL 5-star plays: Ronald Acuna Jr., Dansby Swanson, Austin Riley

4-star plays: Matt Olson, Adam Duvall, William Contreras, Michael Harris

GPP Note: The Braves look like a great full-stack yet again.

Miami Marlins (-181) @ Pittsburgh Pirates (+150)

Implied Run Totals:

Marlins – 4.4 IRT

Pirates – 3.3 IRT

Rundown:

The Marlins will send Sandy Alcantara to the hill in a great matchup with a bad offense in a big ballpark. He has at least 58 FanDuel points in two of his last three games and has a 23.5% strikeout rate this season. The nice thing with him is the Marlins have no issue letting him go deep into games, so he’s one of the better pitching options on the slate for me. Mitch Keller will start for the Pirates in a solid matchup with the Marlins as well. He has at least 21.3 DraftKings points in back-to-back games and is in play as an SP2 option for me. The price tag is really nice and he’s floating right around the 20% strikeout range on the season. You could do worse at this price tag.

MIA 5-star plays: None

4-star plays: Joey Wendle, Jesus Aguilar

GPP Note: As odd as it sounds, I’ll have more interest in Keller here than anything from Miami.

PIT 5-star plays: None

4-star plays: None

GPP Note: Love me some Alcantara on the other side of this one.

Watching the weather is half the battle when it comes to MLB DFS. The DFS Army Weather Station has you covered, from games that have delay and postponement potential, to games that could have significant winds that will play a roll in selecting a team to stack or a pitcher to use.

New York Yankees (-187) @ Baltimore Orioles (+160)

Implied Run Totals:

Yankees – 5.3 IRT

Orioles – 3.9 IRT

Rundown:

Nestor Cortes will get the start for the Yankees in this one against a pesky Baltimore team. Cortes has cooled off recently after a torrid start to the season but still looks like he’ll be in play for me here. He has a really nice 26.1% strikeout rate on the year and I think the price tag has fallen too far, especially on DraftKings where he’s $8.7k and makes perfect sense as an SP2. Baltimore will start Dean Kremer in a tough matchup with a hard-hitting Yankees lineup. I don’t see a reason to include him in our pitching pool on this slate.

NYY 5-star plays: Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton

4-star plays: Anthony Rizzo, Gleyber Torres, Matt Carpenter, DJ LeMahieu

GPP Note: Yet again, another top stack to put up there with Atlanta and Toronto.

BAL 5-star plays: None

4-star plays: Cedric Mullins, Ryan Mountcastle

GPP Note: I’ll have more interest in Cortes than any sort of Baltimore stack.

St. Louis Cardinals (-153) @ Cincinnati Reds (+131)

Implied Run Totals:

Cardinals – 5.3 IRT

Reds – 4.4 IRT

Rundown:

Miles Mikolas will take the mound for the Cardinals in what should be a pretty solid matchup against this Reds team. The one thing I don’t like is the ballpark in Cincy, but I can look over that here when we have a pitcher like Mikolas who is great at limiting hard contact. He has at least 23.4 DraftKings points in three of his last five games and looks like a nice option in all formats. The Reds will send Tyler Mahle to the mound after he missed about three weeks due to a shoulder injury. I don’t really want to get to him fresh off of injury in a tough matchup in a small ballpark… it’s a no from me dawg.

STL 5-star plays: Paul Goldschmidt, Nolan Arenado

4-star plays: Tommy Edman, Tyler O’Neill, Nolan Gorman

GPP Note: The Cardinals look great here in a massive ballpark boost for their offense.

CIN 5-star plays: None

4-star plays: Jonathan India, Tommy Pham, Brandon Drury

GPP Note: I just don’t love stacking against Mikolas, he’s great at avoiding the big inning.

Minnesota Twins (-180) @ Detroit Tigers (+150)

Implied Run Totals:

Twins – 5.0 IRT

Tigers – 3.8 IRT

Rundown:

Sonny Gray will take the mound for the Twins in what looks like a pretty solid matchup with this Detroit team. That being said, he’s coming off of two pretty terrible starts against the Rangers and White Sox where he combined for 11 earned runs. I do think we can go back to him here however, he has a 21.8% strikeout rate on the season and his ERA isn’t too far off of his xERA at 3.35… so there’s even some room for some positive regression. Not to mention, he dropped 36.8 DraftKings points on the Tigers earlier this season. Detroit will send Rony Garcia to the mound and is a guy that was pretty solid before going on the IL, but the strikeout rate isn’t where I’d like it to be to make my pitching pool.

MIN 5-star plays: Jorge Polanco

4-star plays: Luis Arraez, Carlos Correa, Max Kepler, Alex Kiriloff

GPP Note: I think Minnesota will be more of a mini-stack team for me… I wish they had Buxton in there to strengthen this lineup a bit.

DET 5-star plays: None

4-star plays: Riley Greene, Javier Baez

GPP Note: I’m talking myself onto getting to Sonny Gray here… the price tag is hard to pass up.

MLB DFS Winning Lineups $50,000

Colorado Rockies (+164) @ Milwaukee Brewers (-195)

Implied Run Totals:

Rockies – 3.9 IRT

Brewers – 5.3 IRT

Rundown:

The Rockies will send Chad Kuhl to the mound in this one against a solid enough Brewers lineup. Kuhl has struggled a bit lately and doesn’t have the strikeout rate/upside to make up for any mistakes he makes, so he won’t be a guy that cracks my player pool. Eric Lauer will start on the other side of this one and comes in as a really nice -195 favorite. I like the price tag a lot more on DraftKings but he still has at least 30 FanDuel points in three straight games and anytime we can take advantage of these Rockies away from Coors Field, I’m going to. He has a 25.1% strikeout rate on the season which gives him some solid upside and will be a guy I have interest in on this slate.

COL 5-star plays: None

4-star plays: Kris Bryant, CJ Cron

GPP Note: One-offs only.

MIL 5-star plays: Christian Yelich, Willy Adames

4-star plays: Rowdy Tellez, Hunter Renfroe, Andrew McCutchen

GPP Note: I was all over the Brewers stack last night and will be a team I go right back to here.

Tampa Bay Rays (-155) @ Kansas City Royals (+133)

Implied Run Totals:

Rays – 4.8 IRT

Royals – 3.9 IRT

Rundown:

The Rays will send Jeffrey Springs to the mound as he returns from the IL after a leg injury has kept him out for about three weeks. He was pretty good before his injury stint with a 2.53 ERA on the season but I have a hard time imagining they’re going to push him here. If you want to risk it in tournaments I don’t have a problem due to the matchup being really nice, but I think we can find better options on this slate. Kris Bubic will get the start for the Royals and probably not a guy I want to get to here either. He’s coming off of a nice start last time out but I won’t be chasing that… he’s also really struggled at home this season with an ERA almost three points higher than on the road.

TBR 5-star plays: None

4-star plays: Yandy Diaz, Randy Arozarena, Isaac Paredes

GPP Note: They’ll be more of a mini-stack team for me.

KCR 5-star plays: Bobby Witt Jr.

4-star plays: MJ Melendez, Andrew Benintendi, Whit Merrifield

GPP Note: I don’t think I want to stack a bad lineup against an up-and-coming young pitcher.

Cleveland Guardians (+113) @ Chicago White Sox (-133)

Implied Run Totals:

Guardians – 3.6 IRT

White Sox – 4.1 IRT

Rundown:

We’ll round out the slate with Shane Bieber heading into Chicago to take on this White Sox team. He had a huge game last time out in this matchup where he threw a complete game on one earned run. I have no problem going right back to the well with him here, he’s shown a nice ceiling this season and the price tag isn’t all that terrible. Dylan Cease will get the start on the other side of this one in what should turn out to be a nice little pitching duel. He’s been great this season with a 2.15 ERA and at least 30 DraftKings points in three of his last five. I’ll have no problem going right back to him here as well.

CLE 5-star plays: None

4-star plays: Jose Ramirez, Josh Naylor

GPP Note: Just one-offs for me here.

CHW 5-star plays: None

4-star plays: Tim Anderson, Jose Abreu

GPP Note: Same deal here, I like both of these pitchers.
