Hello again everybody, and welcome to today’s MLB Full Count breakdown! I’m nilly and I run the carnage report and DraftKings tiers tools. I also coach NASCAR, so be sure to check us out every weekend over there, too.
A look at pitchers
It looks like we have some questions with the Dodgers pitching (Scherzer was supposed to start, but it looks like they might be doing something else instead now), but for the rest, I think we know what we’re getting. Eovaldi, Fried, and Garcia will round out the other starters, and while all three have theirs pros and cons, two are certainly ahead of the other on paper. As always, keep an eye on the coach’s notes page to get an idea of where they’re looking!
Boston Red Sox at Houston Astros
We’ll start today’s games with the Red Sox and Astros, with Eovaldi and Garcia on the mound. Vegas likes this game to be the higher scoring one, and I tend to agree. I think the Red Sox have the better matchup here, though the Astros do have some strong BvP with a couple of their bats, so I could see this one producing several more runs than the other game.
Red Sox 5 star plays – none
Red Sox 4 star plays – Schwarber/Devers, Martinez/Bogaerts
GPP note – Garcia has big traditional splits (allowing .412 wOBA / .210 ISO to lefties), so be sure you’re attacking him with groups of lefties whenever possible.
Astros 5 star plays – none
Astros 4 star plays – Altuve/Bregman (BvP), Alvarez
GPP note – The above two have very nice BvP against Eovaldi, so be sure you’re playing them. Outside of that, he allows .175 ISO to lefties, so get some of them, too.

Los Angeles Dodgers at Atlanta Braves
Our other game today will feature the Dodgers and Braves, with Fried starting for the Braves and, well, I’m not really sure for the Dodgers. It’s looking like a bullpen game of sorts, perhaps allowing Scherzer to rest today instead of rolling him out. Keep an eye on the news, because they like to change things at the last minute.
Dodgers 5 star plays – none
Dodgers 4 star plays – Betts/Turner, Taylor, Seager
GPP note – Fried has been pretty strict overall, but does allow some power to lefties, so don’t be afraid to try a few LvL bats.
Braves 5 star plays – none
Braves 4 star plays – Freeman/Soler, Riley/Albies
GPP note – At this point I have no idea who they’re facing, but I think it’ll mostly be the same bats in play regardless. Keep an eye on the news to see who they’re going with.
