WNBA Strategy Picks for Today

Credit: Mary Holt-USA TODAY Sports

Atlanta Dream @ Dallas Wings

The Dream face the Wings tonight shorthanded, already without Carter, Bradford, parker, Hawkins, and likely Dupree. This means there is a lot of minutes to go around here. Monique Billings will play a ton of minutes tonight and has been money over the last two games. Courtney Williams, Tiffany Hayes, and Odyssey Sims will all see 30+ minutes tonight as well. Of the three, the upside is highest for Williams who can get hot quickly. From a price point decision, Hayes is very appealing tonight. Shekinna Stricklen and Aari McDonald make for interesting value options.

The Wings are in a battle for a playoff spot and a win tonight will go a long way to securing that. Facing one of the worst teams in the league, Arike Ogunbowale and Isabelle Harrison will be called upon to deliver victory tonight. The matchup for Harrison is perhaps the best in the league. Ogunbowale has a knack for scoring and carries 45+ Fpts upside into virtually any matchup. With the absence of Satou Sabally, Kayla Thornton will play 30+ minutes and if her performance in this same matchup earlier in the season is anything to go by, she’ll make for a nice value option tonight. Moriah Jefferson and Marina Mabrey round out the group as interesting GPP options on the slate.

5-Star Play: Arike Ogunbowale, Isabelle Harrison, Courtney Williams

4-Star Play: Tiffany Hayes, Kayla Thornton

GPP Sleeper: Marina Mabrey

Deep Value: Shekinna Stricklen

Los Angeles Sparks @ Minnesota Lynx

The Sparks are in a tough matchup tonight against the Lynx, made slightly easier by the fact that Sylvia Fowles is likely out tonight. That said, it is hard to like their odds tonight. For the Sparks to pull off an upset here, Nneka Ogwumike and Erica Wheeler will have to be at their best. Both players have high upsides and can battle through tough matchups. They just haven’t been consistent enough this season. Brittney Sykes makes for an interesting GPP option in the event of an upset.

The Lynx are a win away from clinching a playoff berth. Although they’ll be without Damiris Dantas and likely Sylvia Fowles, they still have enough firepower available to secure that playoff spot tonight. Napheesa Collier will play 35+ minutes tonight and makes for a fantastic option on the slate. Kayla McBride showed her upside last time out and the Lynx will look for her to do so again here tonight. Aerial Powers should see her minutes increase with the injuries, and her ability to do a little of everything could translate into a nice DFS night. Natalie Achonwa likely gets the start if Fowles is out and makes for an interesting value option, while Bridget Carleton should once again pic up minutes with Layshia Clarendon out.

5-Star Play: Napheesa Collier

4-Star Play: Nneka Ogwumike, Kayla McBride, Erica Wheeler

GPP Sleeper: Brittney Sykes

Deep Value: Bridget Carleton

Chicago Sky @ Las Vegas Aces

The Sky get a tough matchup against the high-flying Aces tonight. To pull off a victory and move towards securing a playoff berth, they’ll need their best from their stars tonight. That begins with Candace Parker, who gets a fantastic matchup tonight. The only problem is, Parker has been all over the place this season, with the inconsistency relegating her to only GPPs. Courtney Vandersloot will be relied upon by the Sky to create and score tonight in order to win this game. She is one of the best point guards in the league and is definitely up to the challenge. Azura Stevens has seen her minutes increase over her last 3 games and has performed well with them, making her a nice option on the slate. The likes of Allie Quigley and Kahleah Copper remain GPP options.

The Aces could potentially be without Dearica Hamby tonight. This will place a heavier load on the shoulders of A’ja Wilson to carry the team. This makes Wilson an excellent option on the slate with 50+ Fpts upside. Liz Cambage could see an uptick in minutes tonight without Hamby. We all know what she can do in just 20 minutes, what more of 30 minutes? Kiah Stokes could be in line to pick up minutes here as well and given her price will make for an excellent value option on the slate. Chelsea Gray and Jackie Young round up the list of Aces’ players in good spots tonight.

5-Star Play: A’ja Wilson, Liz Cambage

4-Star Play: Candace Parker, Courtney Vandersloot, Azura Stevens, Chelsea Gray

GPP Sleeper: Jackie Young

Deep Value: Kiah Stokes

New York Liberty @ Seattle Storm

A shorthanded Liberty team takes on the Storm tonight in their third meeting since the Olympics break. With Sami Whitcomb, Jazmine Jones, and Michaela Onyenwere likely out, the Liberty will heavily rely on Natasha Howard, Sabrina Ionescu, Betnijah Laney, and Rebecca Allen tonight. Howard gets another shot at her former team and has shown she can perform well in this matchup. Ionescu has been getting back into her excellent early season form of late and will look to continue that momentum. Laney remains a strong GPP option with huge upside any time she takes the court. On a good night, few can match the scoring and fantasy upside she brings. Rebecca Allen stands to pick up extra minutes with Onyenwere likely out and makes for a solid option due to her defensive abilities. DiDi Richards could pick up extra minutes here with all the injuries and makes for a nice value option on the slate.

For the Storm, it all starts up top with Breanna Stewart. She’ll be the best player on the court, and when she sets her mind to it, is virtually unstoppable. Look to her to establish herself early and exert her influence throughout the game. Jewell Loyd has been phenomenal against the Liberty this season. Given how much she has struggled of late, this could just be what the doctor ordered to help her regain her form. It’s an excellent matchup for her game and one she’ll look to exploit. With Jordin Canada out, Katie Lou Samuelson will look to regain her spot in the starting lineup and Epiphany Prince could pick up a few extra minutes here backing up Sue Bird.

5-Star Play: Breanna Stewart, Jewell Loyd, Sabrina Ionescu, Natasha Howard

4-Star Play: Betnijah Laney, Rebecca Allen, Sue Bird

GPP Sleeper: Katie Lou Samuelson

Deep Value: Didi Richards
