WNBA Strategy Picks for Today

Credit: Douglas DeFelice-USA TODAY Sports

Seattle Storm @ Indiana Fever

Starting with the Storm, the top two options for this team are obviously going to be Breanna Stewart and Jewell Loyd. My preference is on Stewart with her rebounding ability and she is the better scorer, but both are elite options here tonight for sure. Sue Bird has also been her rock steady self, and at her price there is some value there as well with how well she’s been playing and dishing assists to Stewart and Loyd. For value, Stephanie Talbot should start again here tonight, she’s one of the better value plays with the injuries/missing players from Seattle. Ezi Magbegor is also in play for GPPs with her upside, but she is very matchup based and this isn’t a game where they should need her too much. If you need another value play off the bench, Jordin Canada is someone you can take a shot on in GPPs in hopes that Talbot struggles.

Teaira McCowan has had some success against this Storm team this year, and her size will be needed tonight, there’s the possibility she plays over 30 minutes today which will put her in an excellent position to crush her price tag. In the backcourt, Kelsey Mitchell and Danielle Robinson lead the way. Both have been struggling recently, but the upside especially with Kelsey is huge. To round up, Tiffany Mitchell and Victoria Vivians make for GPP game theory plays here. Jessica Breland is also playing heavy minutes, but its really tough to trust any of this Fever team with the spread already at -14 for this game.

5-Star Play: Breanna Stewart, Jewell Loyd

4-Star Play: Kelsey Mitchell, Danielle Robinson, Jantel Lavender, Sue Bird

GPP Sleeper: Ezi Magbegor, Victoria Vivians, Stephanie Talbot

Deep Value: Victoria Vivians, Ezi Magbegor

Chicago Sky @ Minnesota Lynx

The Sky team starts with Candace Parker and Stephanie Dolson, both are elite plays here tonight against this Lynx team that has struggled defensively. Courtney Vandersloot and Diamond DeShields are also solid plays, but not as good as when those two were out. Allie Quigley returns here having missed all but the season opener. She’ll play backup to Slooty and Copper here. Copper is another great play here, and I really like the Sky option in this front court with Ndour-Fall out tonight. Dana Evans is also a solid punt if you need one here as she saw 10+ in each of the past 2 games.

For the Lynx, their offense starts and stop with Sylvia Fowles, as they’re coming off a solid win against the Fever as well. Napheesa Collier has been their #2 option on offense, but she is priced right up there with Fowles, and for the price tag I’m playing Fowles. For guards, your main option is going to be Kayla McBride, as she should see the most minutes there, but she’s priced right around value given her fantasy production. Dangerfield’s minutes have come up though so she is in play coming off the bench, while Layshia Clarendon started last game and had some decent production. Bridget Carleton sees some decent minutes off the bench as well, I love her price on FanDuel as she is one of the best values on the slate.

5-Star Play: Candace Parker, Sylvia Fowles

4-Star Play: Stephanie Dolson, Courtney Vandersloot, Diamond DeShields, Kahleah Copper, Napheesa Collier

GPP Sleeper: Bridget Carleton, Kayla McBridge, Layshia Clarendon

Deep Value: Bridget Carleton

New York Liberty @ Las Vegas Aces

For the Liberty, the big news here is that Sabrina Ionescu will be out here with that ankle issue. Betnijah Laney and Sami Whitcomb are both phenomenal plays now with her out here. In the frontcourt, without Natasha Howard, it’s going to be a mixture of Michaela Onyenwere, Kiah Stokes, Kylee Shook, and Rebecca Allen. It’s hard to say what happens here, but Onyenwere is the best option out of these four as we will expect her to play heavy minutes here.

Liz Cambage has been playing really well but can’t seem to break that 30 minute mark that she needs to reall crush. New York has no one who can deal with her size and she’ll do whatever she wants here. A’ja Wilson has not been worth her price recently, but this matchup is as good as it gets for her and she is coming off her best game of the year as well. Dearica Hamby makes for a nice contrarian option here. On the guard front, Chelsea Gray continues to play huge minutes and is always an option. The return of Kelsey Plum to the team limits the upside we will see from Riquna Williams. Most people will also be off Jackie Young here due to a combination of her recent performance and the return of Plum. It could be an opportunity for some leverage in GPPs

5-Star Play: Betnijah Laney, Sami Whitcomb, A’ja Wilson

4-Star Play: Liz Cambage, Dearica Hamby, Chelsea Gray, Michaela Onyenwere

GPP Sleeper: Kylee Shook, Rebecca Allen, Kelsey Plum, Riquna Williams

Deep Value: Jackie Young
