Milwaukee Bucks @ Miami Heat

Vegas Total: 226.5

Vegas Spread: Mil -1.5

We’ll kick this playoff Monday slate off with the Heat who come into this one down 2-0 in the series, but head home to Miami for this one. Jimmy Butler had a pretty dreadful game 2, which you’ll see be a trend in this write-up. The Heat were just not good overall, so if people are going to be off them here I’ll jump right back on board. Butler is also way too cheap especially on DraftKings, I love him in this spot. Bam Adebayo is struggling to hang with Brook Lopez and the Milwaukee frontcourt in the paint, so much so that Dewayne Dedmon has risen as a fantasy option at near min price. Goran Dragic and Duncan Robinson both had solid game 2’s considering the minutes they played, they were obviously cut due to the blowout, but you can go right back to them at their respective price tags. Lastly, I think Trevor Ariza makes a lot of sense even with his down game in game 2, he should still see massive minutes, and may have been a good thing that he got some rest in game 2. Kendrick Nunn is more of a GPP guy right there with Tyler Herro, we haven’t seen anything all that impressive from either of them in this series so far. From the Bucks, Giannis Antetokounmpo has at least 60 DraftKings points in each game in this series even with playing just 31 minutes last time out. He’s the highest-priced player on both sites and an elite raw option as always. Khris Middleton had a down game 2 but was mostly due to the minutes he played and Bryn Forbes going banana’s which sort of go hand in hand. Middleton is still a solid option here and I do think you can get to Forbes as a value option, but I would expect the ownership on him to be higher than it probably should as people chase that outing. Jrue Holiday had an efficient game as well and feels like a guy that is going to have really quiet 40 point fantasy outings, I have no issue going right back to him here. Donte DiVincenzo struggled from the field again but was able to salvage his day by grabbing a bunch of peripherals. I chased Brook Lopez a bit in game 2 after his game 1 performance, but he still didn’t kill you and is another guy where the minutes just weren’t there due to the blowout. Then we can round this game out with Bobby Portis as a GPP option, he’s the type of guy who can play 15 minutes but drop 30 fantasy points.

5-star play: Jimmy Butler, Giannis Antetokounmpo

4-star play: Duncan Robinson, Bam Adebayo, Khris Middleton, Jrue Holiday, Goran Dragic, Brook Lopez

Deeper Value: Bryn Forbes, Andre Iguodala

GPP Sleeper: Tyler Herro, Kendrick Nunn, Bobby Portis, Donte DiVincenzo

Phoenix Suns @ Los Angeles Lakers

Vegas Total: 210.5

Vegas Spread: Lal -7.0

Starting with the Lakers as they head home in hopes to take the 2-1 advantage in this series. LeBron James and Anthony Davis both played huge minutes to nobody’s surprise and switched “big games” a bit. Davis had the better game and the guy I’ve liked better coming into this series. DeAndre Ayton and the rest of that frontcourt isn’t something that I’m afraid of and something I think Davis can continue to take advantage of. You can also go to LeBron as well, I just have a slight preference for Davis, but nothing substantial. Andre Drummond only saw 19 and 24 minutes in his first two games, which I think will be the norm in the playoffs. It’s pretty obvious this Lakers team is better when Davis is running the five, but for some reason, they don’t run it all that often. Drummond is more of a GPP guy, the minutes won’t be great, but he’s got big upside even in short spurts and fell just a rebound short of the double-double bonus on DraftKings. Dennis Schroder is another guy that will see big minutes but he’s going to be in the backseat behind LeBron, Davis, and potentially Drummond while he’s out there, so more of a GPP guy and coming off a nice 34 point fantasy game last time out. From the Suns, Devin Booker came down to Earth a bit in game 2, but he’s still going to play massive minutes and most of his production came at the free-throw line where he shot 17-17. Chris Paul is pretty clearly not healthy so he’s more of a GPP guy for me in hopes he gets his full minutes, otherwise, I think you can chase Cameron Payne a bit. He’ll be the primary beneficiary of any minutes Paul doesn’t see, he’s coming off a massive 39 point fantasy outing last time out.  DeAndre Ayton continues to look good in this matchup which is somewhat surprising. The price tag is probably too cheap yet again, so a guy I’m good with going right back to. Mikal Bridges hasn’t looked great from a fantasy perspective but they’re going to need him for defense at the very least. Lastly, I’ll go right back to Jae Crowder as well at a cheap price tag with both SF/PF eligibility on DraftKings.

5-star play: LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Devin Booker

4-star play: Dennis Schroder, DeAndre Ayton

Deeper Value: Alex Caruso

GPP Sleeper: Kyle Kuzma, Jae Crowder, Chris Paul, Mikal Bridges

Denver Nuggets @ Portland Trailblazers

Vegas Total: 227.5

Vegas Spread: Por -4.0

Starting with the Blazers who will head home and look to take a 2-1 lead in the series. Damian Lillard has essentially put the team on his back so far in this series, he has at least 59 DraftKings points in both games so far and playing big minutes. He’s a much better option on DraftKings where he’s $1.1k cheaper than he is on FanDuel, I have no issue going right back to him at home. CJ McCollum isn’t a sexy option but has been really consistent and SG is extremely ugly especially on FanDuel. Jusuf Nurkic was a guy I was really high on in the first two games but got himself into foul trouble in game 2 which is something Jokic will tend to do. He gives them their best chance at attempting to slow Jokic on the defensive end which means he’s going to naturally rack up stats. I like him again here, more so on DraftKings due to the price differential, however. Outside of those three, there isn’t a whole lot that I’m falling in love with, but guys like Robert Covington, Carmelo Anthony, and Norman Powell are all GPP guys for me. From the Nuggets, Nikola Jokic is right there with Giannis as the top spend-up option on the slate, what’s not to like with him? I normally don’t love attacking Nurkic down low, but Jokic does so much for this team that he’ll be hard for me to avoid in this spot. I like Michael Porter Jr. as well, he’s now the second option on this team with all their injuries. He hasn’t shot all that great in this series, but he’s still too cheap considering he was in the mid-$8k range for most of the season since Murray went down. Facundo Campazzo is going to run most of the point responsibilities and has looked pretty solid in this series, he makes sense as a filler option if you need one. I do like going right back to Aaron Gordon though, he’s going to play big minutes and taking on additional responsibilities with Barton and Murray out. He’s probably more of a tournament option but a guy I do like taking a chance on. Then you can round this team out with value options in Austin Rivers, Paul Millsap, and JaMychal Green. Rivers will see the most minutes of the three, but all are solid looks for GPPs.

5-star play: Nikola Jokic, Damian Lillard, Michael Porter Jr.

4-star play: CJ McCollum, Jusuf Nurkic, Facundo Campazzo, Aaron Gordon

Deeper Value: Austin Rivers, Paul Millsap, JaMychal Green

GPP Sleeper: Robert Covington, Carmelo Anthony, Norman Powell

NBA Lock of the Day: Jimmy Butler (DK – $8.5k; FD – $9.1k)

I’ll go right back to Butler here in game 3. He had a pretty terrible game 2, but who on the Miami Heat didn’t? I think they bounce back a bit as they head home for this one. He’s just too cheap here, particularly on DraftKings. He’s a great option on FanDuel as well due to the position scarcity over there. Butler will likely make my Core 4 in today’s Coaches Notes/Cheat Sheets, go check them out! Tweet me (@MadnessDFS) your lock predictions and if your player gets over 5x tonight I’ll give you a shoutout on Twitter, let’s have some fun with this!
