Atlanta Hawks @ Cleveland Cavaliers

Vegas Total: 228

Vegas Spread: Atl -7

We have  decent total on this game, so we can grab a few pieces from it. Starting with the Hawks, Trae Young has been looking and playing much better over the past 2 weeks, and he draws an excellent matchup against the likes of Garland and Sexton who are not great defenders. Clint Capela should also have a field day here, as Allen was a guy we targeted a lot when playing for Brooklyn and we can do that again. John Collins has also been solid, but I prefer Capela and Trae if I’m going Hawks pay up options, and I wouldn’t pair him and Capela. Kevin Huerter has also been playing a ton with the injury to Hunter, and Cam Reddish is also seeing some solid time. If you’re looking for value, Danilo Gallinari is a solid play here as well, as he anchors the scoring on that 2nd unit. Now for the Cavs, with Andre Drummond out of the rotation until he is traded, it opens up a ton of minutes for Jarrett Allen who has shown why the Cavs went after him as he is their big man of the future. The combo guards of Collin Sexton and Darius Garland also draw very solid matchups in this game, as the Hawks backcourt does not defend guards well and they play very loose as well. I expect a good amount of turnovers for both sides so this is a game we can target guys who are looking for adding FPs with the likes of steals and such. Cedi Osman should also play big minutes in this one with Nance out for awhile, but he has been very up and down lately, but the price is right tonight where he doesn’t kill you if he duds.

5-star play: Trae Young, Clint Capela, Jarrett Allen

4-star play: Collin Sexton, Darius Garland, John Collins, Cedi Osman

Deeper Value: Kevin Huerter, Cam Reddish, Danilo Gallinari

GPP Sleeper: Cedi Osman, Danilo Gallinari

Orlando Magic @ Detroit Pistons

Vegas Total: 207.5

Vegas Spread: Orl -3.5

This is going to be the lowest total and slowest paced game of the night, so I’m not going to go too in depth here as there really isn’t a lot we want to target from a fantasy point perspective. Starting with the Magic, really the only options that I want in this game are going to be Nikola Vucevic and Evan Fournier. Vuc has been on an absolute tear over the past week, and that usage will continue here against Plumlee who won’t be able to contain him. Fournier has also been really hot from the field, and he can rack up FPs in a hurry, especially with how the Pistons like to turn the ball over, he’ll see plenty of steal opportunities and open 3s. If you’re looking to get really deep, Terrence Ross should also see plenty of minutes off the bench, but don’t pair him and Fournier. For the Pistons, Jerami Grant is really the only guy that I’ll be playing from this Pistons squad, as they are in full summer league mode and basically playing 12 guys over 10 minutes each. Dennis Smith Jr. has still looked like a bust so far and his minutes haven’t been there either. That’s really all I’ll be looking at in this game.

5-star play: Nikola Vucevic

4-star play: Evan Fournier, Jerami Grant

Deeper Value: Terrence Ross, Michael Carter-Williams

GPP Sleeper: None

Sacramento Kings @ Brooklyn Nets

Vegas Total: 242

Vegas Spread: Bkn -7

This is a game that we’re going to want to target here, as we have the highest total on the slate and this game looks like it’ll be relatively close as well. The Nets are coming off a west coast road sweep and they get the Kings at home so they’ll be looking to continue that streak here. Starting with the Kings, De’Aaron Fox gets a great matchup here, as the Nets don’t play defense, so I’ll be heavily targeting both sides of this game. He should be able to do whatever wants against Kyrie’s porous defense. Tyrese Haliburton has also been playing really well here too, and I’ll like him more if Barnes is out again as well. Nemanja Bjelica will be another solid value as well if Barnes misses, especially if Holmes misses as well. Marvin Bagley has also been on a minutes restriction, but he’s been white hot as well as he is looking to boost his trade stock. If Richaun Holmes does play here tonight, the matchup doesn’t get much better here as the Nets are very undersized in their frontcourt. Now for the Nets, it looks like Durant will be out again tonight, so we can fire up James Harden again as he’s been white hot in all aspects. The Kings backcourt isn’t great defensively, so we could be looking at another monster game for him here, he has the highest ceiling of anyone on the slate. Kyrie Irving is also definitely in play here, but I like the idea more of ping-ponging Harden with Fox in your lineups tonight. Joe Harris will also see a bigger role offensively, as he is a nice GPP sleeper especially if he gets hot from the field. DeAndre Jordan will also have to play more minutes here to go up against Holmes, so he’s firmly in play as well.

5-star play: De’Aaron Fox, James Harden

4-star play: Kyrie Irving, Tyrese Haliburton, Marvin Bagley, Richaun Holmes

Deeper Value: Nemanja Bjelica

GPP Sleeper: DeAndre Jordan, Joe Harris

Golden State Warriors @ New York Knicks

Vegas Total: 215.5

Vegas Spread: Gsw -1.5

This game has a few pieces that we can target, but it also has one of the lower totals on the slate as the Knicks really will slow the pace of this game down, which doesn’t bode well in the Warriors favor. Starting with the Warriors, the obvious play here if going to be Stephen Curry as he’ll be able to do whatever he wants in the Garden tonight, as the likes of Elfrid Payton won’t be able to contain him. Kelly Oubre has also been playing that 2nd man role really well after getting off to a really rough start at the beginning of this year. Andrew Wiggins is a guy who should see some success here as well, especially if Oubre gets cold from the field again. Draymond Green also gets a really solid matchup here as the Knicks are pretty weak in their interior without their rim protector Mitch Robinson. For the Knicks, the obvious play here is going to be Julius Randle as he gets a cake matchup here as the Warriors are horrible inside and he’ll soak up some of the void left by Mitchell Robinson. If you’re looking for cash options, RJ Barrett is solid, but the ceiling just hasn’t been there for him to really smash at his price. Nerlens Noel is also firmly in play here against this porous Warriors interior as he hasn’t had a smash game yet. Elfrid Payton and Immanuel Quickley have essentially been splitting minutes at the PG so their ceilings are both destroyed there.

5-star play: Stephen Curry, Julius Randle

4-star play: Kelly Oubre, Dramond Green, Nerlens Noel

Deeper Value: Elfrid Payton, Immanuel Quickley

GPP Sleeper: Andrew Wiggins

Philadelphia 76ers @ Toronto Raptors

Vegas Total: 224

Vegas Spread: Phi -2

This is going to be a game I want to target here, as this game should be very competitive down to the end, which means we could even luck into some overtime, don’t bank on that but its something to take into account in competitive games like these. Joel Embiid gets a smash spot here, as the Raptors are now a mess in their interior with the departure of Gasol and Ibaka. Ben Simmons has been tearing it up over the past week as well, and none of these Raptors guards will be able to contain him with his length and size. Tobias Harris is also about as safe as they come for cash games, as his floor is usually around 35 with a 45 FP ceiling as long as Embiid and Simmons are both healthy. Seth Curry is also a solid value here as well, as he’ll play close to 30 minutes and he’s dirt cheap on both sites. I also have some interest in Shake Milton here as he played 29 minutes off the bench and he’s been their anchor. For the Raptors, the big news will depend on whether or not Kyle Lowry suits up here after missing last game. If he misses, Fred VanVleet will become a premier play along with Pascal Siakam as they both played 38 and 41 minutes last game and we all know that minutes=FPs. OG Anunoby is also in play here as they’ll need his length on Simmons, and if Lowry is out Norman Powell becomes a great play as well, but his price has come up quite a bit due to his recent production. DeAndre’ Bembry has also been starting, he’s solid for value if Lowry is out and Chris Boucher always has that ceiling if he gets going, and I can see Baynes getting into foul trouble against Embiid here.

5-star play: Joel Embiid, Fred VanVleet

4-star play: Pascal Siakam, Ben Simmons, Tobias Harris, OG Anunoby

Deeper Value: Norman Powell, DeAndre’ Bembry, Seth Curry, Shake Milton

GPP Sleeper: Shake Milton, DeAndre’ Bembry

Boston Celtics @ Dallas Mavericks

Vegas Total: 225.5

Vegas Spread: Bos -1

The Celtics are coming off of their worst loss of the year, after giving up a 20+ point lead to the Pelicans the other night. I expect them to come out firing here as they’ve been blowing leads all year but they tend to bounce back well and Dallas is on the 2nd half of a B2B. For the Celtics, Jayson Tatum is going to be your headliners, as he dominates this team in usage and minutes and the 4 is a spot you can attack the Mavs. Jaylen Brown has stepped up his game this year as well, he’s firmly in play but I wouldn’t pair the two. Kemba Walker is also a fine play, as the Mavs have actually been allowing a ton of FPs to opposing PGs and he’s still quite cheap. If you’re looking to go deeper, Payton Pritchard is a decent value at PG, and Daniel Theis has been solid as well. But really outside of the top 3 it’s hard to pin down usage as the Celtics have a deep bench rotation. Now for the Mavericks, the big news will depend on whether or not Kristaps Porzingis suits up for this game. If he is out, then it’ll be another core Luka Doncic day, as well as Tim Hardaway Jr. who has been scorching from the field. Josh Richardson is also a very solid piece in this Mavericks rotation and he is underpriced here a bit as well. If Porzingis misses those minutes will go to Dwight Powell and Willie Cauley-Stein. I’ll prefer the one who starts tonight.

5-star play: Jayson Tatum, Luka Doncic

4-star play: Tim Hardaway Jr., Jaylen Brown, Kemba Walker, Josh Richardson

Deeper Value: Dwight Powell, Payton Pritchard, Daniel Theis

GPP Sleeper: Robert Williams, Willie-Cauley Stein

Minnesota Timberwolves @ Milwaukee Bucks

Vegas Total: 231

Vegas Spread: Mil -10.5

This game is interesting, as it could provide for a lot of FP goodness, but only if the T-Wolves can keep this game close. The Bucks have tended to let teams hang around this year, and they are weak on the perimeter. That is a specialty of Malik Beasley, who is coming off his worst game of the year and no one will be on him in this spot, but it is one to take advantage of. Karl Anthony-Towns is also a great play here, as he can shoot the 3 as well, in addition to being dominant on the boards over Lopez. Ricky Rubio has also been playing some really good ball and he’s still quite cheap everywhere. Jarred Vanderbilt and Jaden McDaniels are also seeing an increased role with Culver and Russell out. Anthony Edwards has also been picking up his play with Russell out, and he’s been playing really well. Overall there is some leverage to be gained here but there are definite blowout risks here. For the Bucks, Jrue is out again, so that helps us with Giannis Antetokounmpo’s ceiling as he could go for 70+ if this game stays competitive. It is also a nice boost to Khris Middleton who is coming off his best performance of the year. DJ Augustin has also been starting with Jrue out, and he presents a solid value play as well, as does Donte DiVincenzo who has stepped up his game the past few weeks. I won’t have a ton of action on this game but it is a spot we can gain some leverage in GPPs as the masses will be scared off by the spread.

5-star play: Giannis Antetokounmpo, Khris Middleton, Karl-Anthony Towns

4-star play: Malik Beasley, Ricky Rubio, Donte DiVincenzo

Deeper Value: Jarred Vanderbilt, DJ Augustin, Jaden McDaniels

GPP Sleeper: Jaden McDaniels

Portland Trail Blazers @ Denver Nuggets

Vegas Total: 230.5

Vegas Spread: Den -7.5

Here we have an interesting game to target as well, as the Blazers haven’t been playing their best ball, but I believe this game will be closer than people think. Starting with the Trail Blazers, Damian Lillard has the best matchup of anyone in this game, as Jamal Murray isn’t known for his defensive prowess. He’ll have a ton of usage with McCollum still out and he’ll play heavy minutes as well. Enes Kanter draws a very difficult matchup here going against the Joker, but he is still a bit too cheap on all sites. Carmelo Anthony has been the anchor for the 2nd unit with McCollum out, and he’s in play here as well especially if you think this game blows out. Anfernee Simons has also been seeing an increased role off the bench, he’s a deep MME type play if you think this game gets ugly. For the Nuggets, Nikola Jokic is in a phenomenal spot here, as Kanter is basically a revolving door on defense, so he’ll be threatening for a triple double once again in this game tonight. Jamal Murray has also been on a tear for the past week or so, and his price hasn’t quite caught up to his recent production and the Blazers are not very good against guards. If Harris misses again, that’ll open up more minutes for Will Barton and Michael Porter Jr. as well. Both are due for a big game. And if you think this game gets ugly then you should have some shares of Monte Morris and Franko Campazzo as well.

5-star play: Damian Lillard, Nikola Jokic

4-star play: Enes Kanter, Michael Porter Jr., Jamal Murray, Will Barton, Carmelo Anthony

Deeper Value: Anfernee Simons, Franko Campazzo, Monte Morris

GPP Sleeper: Monte Morris

Washington Wizards @ Los Angeles Clippers

Vegas Total: 235.5

Vegas Spread: Lac -10.5

This is another game that intrigues me, as the Wizards have been playing some really good ball lately, including their win over the Lakers last night. The issue we have here is that Russell Westbrook may not be playing on the 2nd half of a B2B, and if he isn’t available then that creates issues for the rest of this Wizards team being able to stay competitive. If he is in, he’s obviously a solid play here as him and Pat Bev hate each other. If Westy is indeed out, then Bradley Beal will be in store for massive usage once again, and he is matchup proof. If the Wizards are going to keep this game competitive then he’s going to have to go nuclear. Rui Hachimura played big minutes last night as well, but the matchup isn’t good for him here against Kawhi. Moe Wagner continues to start as well, but hasn’t been logging big minutes, the guy you’ll want there is Davis Bertans as he is a streaky shooter, but when he gets hot, look out. Raul Neto would also be in play here if Westbrook does rest on the 2nd half of this B2B. Now for the Clippers, Paul George has returned and made an immediate impact in their last game. We all know that this Wizards team is one you can attack, so he’s firmly in play tonight. Kawhi Leonard is also in play here, but given the spread in this game I can see one of them resting tonight, so keep an eye on news. Serge Ibaka is also a solid play as is Ivica Zubac if you think that this game gets ugly. Overall I won’t be going too heavy on the Clippers side of the ball unless we get news that one of Kawhi or PG13 are out.

5-star play: Bradley Beal, Paul George, Kawhi Leonard

4-star play: Rui Hachimura, Davis Bertans, Serge Ibaka

Deeper Value: Ivica Zubac, Lou Williams, Moe Wagner

GPP Sleeper: Serge Ibaka, Lou Williams

NBA Lock of the Day:

(James Harden FD: $11,000 DK: $10,700)

James gets the nod for me here, as we had Kevin Durant out once again tonight, and the Nets are currently streaking due to in part that Harden has been white hot. Add in the pace of this game and I can see him triple doulbing and putting up one of his classic 65+ FP games. I’d be surprised if he isn’t the top scoring player on the slate tonight.
