Way Too Early 2021 Mock Fantasy Draft

Once thought of as a hobby that started in July and ran through December, Fantasy football has become a year-round passion for many players. The DFS ARMY season-long coaches have been making sure we start our yearly grind, the minute the previous season ends. In addition, to redraft fantasy football becoming mainstream, the interest in dynasty fantasy football has grown exponentially over the last few years.

Each year on January 1st, after week 17 of the NFL season, we conduct our “Way Too Early” draft for the next season. The results of the NFL draft predictions in 2021 are posted below, and the accompanying podcast with the breakdown can be heard here. The parameters for the 2021 mock fantasy football draft were:

    • 12 team League
    • PPR style Scoring
    • Start One QB (Non-Superflex)
    • No incoming rookies included
    • The Geek picked odd numbers in round one: (1,3,5,7,9,11)
    • Alan Seslowsky picked even numbers in round one: (2,4,6,8,10,12)
    • There were 15 x RBs, 7 x WRs, and 1 x TE selected in the top 24

The results of the “Way Too Early” 2021 redraft mock:

1.1 Christian McCaffrey, RB1 – Despite his injury-riddled season, we expect him to be the first player drafted

1.2 Dalvin Cook, RB2 – Minnesota’s offense starts with Cook. Dalvin is at the peak of his powers

1.3 Derrick Henry, RB3 -Even in PPR format, the yards and TDs have been there to support Henry’s value

1.4 Davante Adams, WR1- Rodgers continues to force-feed Adams targets and TDs. No reason to think that will change in 2021

1.5 Michael Thomas, WR2- The Geek takes a risk betting on MT’s historic past seasons

1.6 Jonathan Taylor, RB4 – JT finished 3rd in rushing yards despite not being a full-time starter until week 8

1.7 James Robinson, RB5 – All he did was produce; EVERY.SINGLE. WEEK (except your championship…ooops)

1.8 Travis Kelce, TE1- In PPR scoring he would have finished 3rd among WIDE RECEIVERS!

1.9 Stefon Diggs, WR3 -Looks dialed in with Josh Allen

1.10 Austin Ekeler, RB6 – New incoming coach adds uncertainty to his role in ’21, but his PPR floor is massive

1.11 Alvin Kamara, RB7 – This rank assumes Drew Brees retires

1.12 Nick Chubb, RB8 – No safer player. He is a sound “boring” first-round pick

Round Two

2.1 Saquon Barkley RB9 His ADP will undoubtedly be higher than this. 2 season-ending injuries is concerning

2.2 D’Andre Swift, RB10 Deserving of first-round consideration

2.3 DK Metcalf, WR4 A tale of 2 seasons; Metcalf and Seattle slowed down in November and December

2.4 DeAndre Hopkins, WR5 – We project him among the league leaders in targets for 2021

2.5 Tyreek Hill, WR6 – 15 TDs in 2020; with a healthy Mahomes, he has WR1 overall upside

2.6 Miles Sanders, RB11 – There is a risk, but the upside in a Jalen Hurts offense is there

2.7 Zeke Elliot, RB12 -We are probably over-reacting to a down year without Dak, and a compromised offensive line

2.8 JK Dobbins, RB13 -He was our favorite rookie in the class and has gotten the opportunity to prove himself in December

2.9 AJ Brown, WR7 -Continued his upward trajectory in 2020

2.10 David Montgomery, RB14- Finished the last eight games of the season as the RB1 overall

2.11 Aaron Jones, RB15- This ranking assumes he resigns in GB

2.12 Justin Jefferson, WR8 We expect his rank to get as high as 12th overall during the offseason
