Washington Wizards @ Brooklyn Nets

Vegas Total: 235.0

Vegas Spread: Bkn -2.5

Starting with the Wizards, it’s ugly. Bradley Beal and Davis Bertans won’t be in the NBA restart making Rui Hachimura the most expensive player on this team. On the season, Hachimura has a pretty pedestrian 24% usage rate with these guys off the court. Shabazz Napier was my guy on Friday night but he was a pretty large disappointment. He and Ish Smith both played 27 minutes but Ish produced much better and saw his price fall to below $4k, he’s pretty close to a lock for me on this slate. The Research Station loves him and his him projected for a 7x value on his price tag. There are a few guys that the Research Station really likes, see below. Thomas Bryant’s projection seems a little high to me, but I’ve been targeting big men against the Nets all season long, I’m not stopping now. Finally, Troy Brown is a solid play as well with this game having such a high game total it’s hard not to like multiple parts of it.

From the Nets, Caris LeVert was a pretty big let down last game and he really didn’t even do that bad. I’ll likely go right back to the well here with a matchup against the Wizards. This is a +1.7 pace up spot for the Nets according to the the Research Station, so guys like LeVert tend to benefit. Jarrett Allen is in a great spot here as well, he came out to a hot start last game but only finished with 24.75 DraftKings points, if he can keep that pace all game he’ll be in for a nice night. Tyler Johnson played 19 minutes on his way to 20 DraftKings points last game, he’s not anyone to get majorly excited about but a value option in a fast-paced game.

5-star play: Ish Smith, Thomas Bryant, Caris LeVert, Jarrett Allen

4-star play: Troy Brown, Tyler Johnson, Joe Harris

Deeper Value: Tyler Johnson

GPP Sleeper: Joe Harris, Shabazz Napier

Portland Trailblazers @ Boston Celtics

Vegas Total: 230.5

Vegas Spread: Bos -4.5

Starting with the Blazers, Damian Lillard played 45 minutes in his first game in the bubble on Friday night. He had 48.25 DraftKings points but the Celtics play tough defense and he feels priced about right, he’s more of a secondary option for me. Jusuf Nurkic looked great in his first game back dropping a 50 burger on the Grizzlies. I don’t hate going right back to him here in hopes you can get similar production, he played 33 minutes so it doesn’t look like a minute restriction will be an issue. Hassan Whiteside is a no go at this point, once Nurkic came back we knew it would be his job, so Whiteside can be avoided. Zach Collins is still very cheap and makes for a nice salary saver, he played 37 minutes in Friday’s overtime game. Lastly, Carmelo Anthony and Gary Trent Jr. are nice GPP options. I think Trent will pick up some slack for Trevor Ariza and Rodney Hood but that much is still to be determined. From the Celtics, Jayson Tatum did not look good in the first game back against the Bucks. He’s priced up but with Kemba Walker on a minute limit he should see extra usage. Kemba Walker played 19 minutes on Friday night and will be on another restriction tonight, I would expect him to be around the 23-25 min range tonight and at his price, he just doesn’t have any kind of ceiling. Jaylen Brown, Gordon Hayward, and Marcus Smart are all solid plays here, but I would lean toward them in GPP while Daniel Theis makes fora solid cash option.

5-star play: Jusuf Nurkic

4-star play: Damian Lillard, Zach Collins, CJ McCollum, Jayson Tatum, Daniel Theis

Deeper Value: Zach Collins

GPP Sleeper: Carmelo Anthony, Jaylen Brown, Gordon Hayward, Marcus Smart

San Antonio Spurs @ Memphis Grizzlies

Vegas Total: 234.5

Vegas Spread: Mem -4.5

Starting with the Spurs, DeMar DeRozan had a rough start on Friday night but recovered to score 47 DraftKings points, I like him again here in a pace up spot against the Grizzlies and a reasonable price tag. Dejounte Murray only played 21 minutes last game and is a guy I just rarely get to because he never has consistent minutes, he does make sense for GPPs however. Jakob Poeltl played 32 minutes last game and the Research Station has him projected to hit 8.9x value on his current price tag. I don’t know that I’m that in love with him but it’s a nice price tag for sure. Lastly, Derrick White is probably the guy you want in the backcourt over Murray, he played 34 minutes on his way to 47 DraftKings points last game. One side note, if Patty Mills is out again here, Lonnie Walker becomes a great value play as well after dropping 25 DraftKings points last time out. From the Grizzlies, Jonas Valanciunas only played 14 minutes last game but that one shot out from the jump. His price tag here feels a bit lofty but you can definitely make a case for GPPs. Ja Morant was off to a slow start on Friday night but ended with 47 DraftKings points, I like him here as I’ve been targeting point guards against the Spurs all year long. The last guys I would have interest in from the Grizzlies would be Dillon Brooks and Brandon Clarke as a mid-range option.

5-star play: DeMar DeRozan, Ja Morant

4-star play: Jakob Poeltl, Derrick White, Dillon Brooks, Brandon Clarke

Deeper Value: Lonnie Walker

GPP Sleeper: Dejounte Murray, Jonas Valanciunas

Sacramento Kings @ Orlando Magic

Vegas Total: 227.0

Vegas Spread: Orl -2.5

Starting with the Kings, De’Aaron Fox dropped a 50 burger on Friday night against the Spurs (hence why I love point guards against the Spurs), but he seems priced about right here. Buddy Hield just isn’t getting the playing time to be relevant, if you want to throw him in your GPP player pool, go for it, but I’m not touching him in cash. Both Nemanja Bjelica and Richaun Holmes were meh on Friday night. You can go back to them here at reasonable price tags if you’re in this range. From the Magic, Nikola Vucevic is priced about right but I do think there’s some upside there in this matchup. Aaron Gordon is more of a GPP play to me simply because he’s priced about right and Jonathan Isaac should be a go again here. Terrence Ross will always be in play for GPPs due to his ability to put up raw points, he’s one of the better bench scorers in the league. On the other hand, Evan Fournier is the safer play of the two because of his consistency.

5-star play: De’Aaron Fox

4-star play: Nemanja Bjelica, Richaun Holmes, Nikola Vucevic, Evan Fournier

Deeper Value: None

GPP Sleeper: Buddy Hield, Aaron Gordon, Terrence Ross

Milwaukee Bucks @ Houston Rockets

Vegas Total: 241.5

Vegas Spread: Mil -4.5

This should be a fun one, with a 241.5 game total there should be no shortage of points here. I’ll start with the Bucks, and someone please tell me how the Rockets are going to stop Giannis Antetokounmpo? Giannis has an And1 of 27.3 here and a projection of 67.4 DraftKings points – the Rockets don’t have a body that can cover him, he’s an elite play for me on this slate. Eric Bledsoe will remain out for this game meaning more ball-handling duties for Giannis, Khris Middleton, and George Hill. Hill played 28 minutes last game and makes sense as a value option here at just $3.9k on DraftKings. Khris Middleton is a solid option against a fast-paced Rockets team, he should have plenty of open looks if the Rockets are going to be sending help on Giannis all night. Lastly, Brook Lopez and Donte DiVincenzo make sense as GPP options. From the Rockets, both James Harden and Russell Westbrook are elite plays here, and right now I think I’m going to try and run back my Giannis shares with one of these guys after seeing James Harden and Luka Doncic jockey for about 160 fantasy points on Friday night. Both Robert Covington and Danuel House make sense as mid-range options as well due to the pace of this game.

5-star play: Giannis Antetokounmpo, James Harden, Russell Westbrook

4-star play: Khris Middleton, George Hill, Brook Lopez, Robert Covington, Danuel House

Deeper Value: George Hill, Jeff Green

GPP Sleeper: Donte DiVincenzo, Brook Lopez, PJ Tucker, Sterling Brown

Dallas Mavericks @ Phoenix Suns

Vegas Total: 236.5

Vegas Spread: Dal -6.0

Starting with the Suns, Kelly Oubre Jr. will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury. This is one of the bigger noteworthy topics as it pertains to DFS as Oubre was playing 34.5 minutes per game this season. Devin Booker should see a ton of usage here along with Ricky Rubio and DeAndre Ayton, while Cam Johnson could see some extended run at the wing. Booker didn’t look outstanding on Friday night but still played near 40 minutes which puts him firmly in play for me. DeAndre Ayton had a solid night and now gets a good matchup against the Mavericks who will be without Willie Cauley-Stein, he’s priced about where he should be but makes for a solid cash option. Ricky Rubio played well last game as well, I like him in that price range if you’re looking for a guard. Lastly, Mikal Bridges should be a nice option at his price tag with Oubre out. From the Mavs, Luka Doncic went blow for blow with James Harden on Friday night. The Suns won’t be able to stop him either, he’s an elite play on this slate. Kristaps Porzingis went nuts in that game as well, but the Rockets just didn’t have enough size to stop him, his price went up but I don’t mind going back to the well here. Other than those two I don’t have a whole lot of interest in the rest of this team just because they demand so much usage. You can make a case for Tim Hardaway Jr. but that’s about as deep as I’m going to get.

5-star play: Luka Doncic, DeAndre Ayton

4-star play:  Devin Booker, Ricky Rubio

Deeper Value: None

GPP Sleeper: Devin Booker, Mikal Bridges, Tim Hardaway Jr.

NBA Lock of the Day: Giannis Antetokounmpo (DK – $11k; FD – $11.2k)

How can you not like Giannis against the Rockets today? The Rockets just gave up 70 DraftKings points to Kristaps Porzingis and just don’t have anyone tall enough or strong enough to battle with Giannis. He has a slate high 27.3 And1 rating and is in a game with a 241.5 implied total. The Research Station has him projected to go for 6.1x his price tag but I think he has a legit 80-90 point ceiling here. Tweet me (@MadnessDFS) your lock predictions and if your player gets over 6.5x I’ll give you a shoutout on Twitter, let’s have some fun with this!
