The iRacing Pro Invitational race this week will be at North Wilkesboro. North Wilkesboro is an old school track that the Cup series hasn’t run on in real life since 1996. Late last year Dale Earnhardt Jr set up a deal for a crew of guys to go clean up the track so racing could scan and preserve it in simulation form. It was set to be released a little later in the year however iRacing is busting it out for the final eNASCAR Pro Invitational event. Because it is not available on iRacing yet all the drivers will be coming in with zero experience on the track.
North Wilkesboro Race Info
- We will see a 28 car field including newcomers Jon Wood (former Xfinity and Truck Series driver) and Martin Truex Jr.
- Many drivers will not participate in the race this week including William Byron, Jimmie Johnson, Alex Bowman, Chase Elliot Kurt Busch, Daniel Suarez, Brad Keselowski, Joey Logano, and Ryan Blaney. Check out our DFS Army Power Rankings for the drivers in Saturday’s field.
- Top 3 finishers from Dover will start from rear of the field. Byron will not be competing this week so Timmy Hill and Christopher Bell will start from the rear.
- Top 10 qualifiers will be inverted. 1st will actually start 10th, 2nd starts 9th.. etc 10th place qualifier will lead the field to the green flag.
- Draftkings will score based on the official iRacing qualifying results. Whatever it says post qualifying is where the driver will be scored from. iRacing scores post inversion.
- 1 fast repair available
- Qualifying scheduled for 2:50 pm with DFS lock scheduled for 3:10 on SATURDAY. Both subject to change
Things are picking back up in the sports world in the next couple weeks. UFC is returning with 3 cards from May 9th-16th. NASCAR is returning with SEVEN races between May 17th-27th. DFS Strategy
I absolutely love that we only have 28 cars in the field this week. This should limit the wrecks and green more long green flag runs. Since North Wilkesboro is a new track with drivers having limited track time I will be focusing on the absolute best drivers that we have seen so far. Kligerman, Hamlin, Cassill, and of course Timmy Hill starting from the rear. We are just getting our first data but it appears Timmy Hill is the fastest in practice followed by John Hunter Nemechek and Ross Chastain. Fast lap was a 17.745 by Hill. With only 28 cars there will be limited drivers in good Place differential situations so we will focus more on drivers who can finish well inside the top 10. It should be a fun race. We will be talking all things iRacing inside our NASCAR slack channel to get prepared for this race as more information becomes available.
