Esports – LPL/LCK 4/5 2AM ET Notes

Notes for Tonight’s 4/5 LCK-LPL Slate

6 game slate after a cancelled LPL slate yesterday.

LPL

LNG (+240) vs JDG (-345)

JDG are getting a big boost tonight with Zoom coming back into their starting lineup. He is a very talented player and although he hasn’t played for a while he is significantly better than 705. Flandre is good so it is not an easy match up, but he should do just fine in that game environment. LNG is starting Light which is perplexing to me, Asura has been one of their more consistent players and Light was not good in his last appearance. I like JDG as one of the top options on this slate. Yes there is sub risk with Zoom, but if JDG wins the first game he will probably stay in.

Players to watch (JDG): Zoom, Kanavi, Loken
Players to watch (LNG): Flandre, Maple

EDG (-315) vs BLG (+220)

BLG have under-performed mightily as a team that I thought had some real potential. They are quite sad to watch as a team with a few very skilled players. EDG have been playing extremely well with their new roster, I don’t consider them a top team and I think they are over-performing slightly, but I like them to win this game. Scout and Hope have been excellent for them.

Players to watch (EDG): Scout, Hope. Aodi
Players to watch (BLG): Meteor, Fofo

RNG (+150) vs IG (-210)

RNG are going to be very popular tonight. This game is a very close one between two top teams who play very different styles. RNG were able to stop ES’ aggression, but can they do the same to Invictus? RNG seem to play a much better team game and focus on objectives very well. IG are exceptional at fighting you but aren’t great at map control or objective control. I do think IG will win, but the upside that RNG can provide in GPPs due to their extremely cheap prices is very appealing. This game can go either way.

Players to watch (RNG): Langx, Xiaohu, Betty
Players to watch (IG): TheShy, Rookie, Puff

LCK

T1 (-375) vs DWG (+255)

Damwon seemed to have found their roster going forward, Ghost has been excellent and they have turned it on in their recent games. They are poised to make a push for the playoffs, but run into T1 here. T1 are masters at controlling the pace of the game, they know that DWG want to fight them early and often but T1 have experience being a very calculated team. T1 are the better team here, but if DWG can crack the defence of T1, they can do some serious damage.

Players to watch (T1): Canna, Teddy, Faker
Players to watch (DWG): Ghost, Showmaker, Nuguri

GRF (+125) vs APK (-175)

APK are going to be another popular option tonight. They have found a starting lineup that works and have rattled off 3 straight series wins. They are relatively cheap on DK and are probably going to carry some decent ownership. GRF are still trying to figure themselves out, and they had a glimpse of hope against T1 the other night, but I do not think it is enough. These teams are trending in opposite directions and while GRF is still talented and have a fair shot to win, I will ride the hot hand of APK in this one.

Players to watch (GRF): Viper, Tarzan
Players to watch (AOK): Hybrid, Ikssu, Flawless

AFS (-195) vs HLE (+140)

Afreeca look like a train-wreck since the break, they are subbing players in and out almost every series and they have struggled hard. HLE are similar in that sense, you never really know who is going to play for them and they are all rather mediocre. This game could score high since it is two desperate teams battling it out, but it’s hard to roster anyone from these games confidently. I would expect AF to win but it is hard to trust them at this point.

Players to watch: (AF): Kiin, Fly
Players to watch: (HLE): Haru, Tempt

Favourite stacks: JDG > EDG > APK > T1 (Cash) > IG > RNG (GPP) > AFS > DWG > LNG > BLG > GRF > HLE
