Esports – LPL/LCK 4/15 2am ET

Notes for Tonight’s 4/15 LPL 2am ET Slate

6 game slate tonight with playoffs coming soon.

LPL

EDG (-260) vs OMG (+185)

OMG are have a lot of talent and are currently fighting for a playoff spot. EDG aren’t locked in either and still need this win to secure their spot. Now that EDG has their full roster intact they have looked very good and almost beat FPX. OMG have been poor against other top teams this season and are a classic middle of the pack team. OMG have very skilled individual players and can outclass most weaker teams just based off of their lane advantages, but they are weak with their team play against other teams that have similar or better quality individual players. OMG tend to not give up a ton of points in losses and EDG aren’t exactly going to push the pace too much either. I like EDG to win but OMG could work as a GPP option.

Players to watch (EDG): Jiejie, Scout, Hope
Players to watch (OMG): icon, smlz, Curse

RNG (-500) vs DMO (+315)

A lot of people are on DMO tonight but I am not so high on them. They have typically only beaten really weak teams and even their win against SN a middle of the pack team was not convincing. They have been playing better but they are not good enough to hang with the big boys for the most part. RNG have suffered a few losses to teams that are on the upswing and while they haven’t been great recently they are still a top team in the LPL and much better than DMO. I will take RNG to win but DMO are fine in GPP as they do have big upside when they win.

Players to watch (RNG): Betty, Xiaohu, Langx
Players to watch (DMO): Xiaopeng, xiye, Gala

IG (-450) vs WE (+285)

This will be the game to focus on. There should be lots of action and lots of fighting in this game and I like the style both teams play. This should be a blood bath no matter who wins because both these teams fight constantly. I could see WE possibly winning a game as IG is rather volatile and they have a tendency to punt games. However, this game environment plays perfectly into what IG want to do as a team and I think they should come out on top. Both teams are in play and WE is probably the highest upside dog and they tend to score well in losses too.

Players to watch (IG): TheShy, Rookie, Puff
Players to watch (WE): Jiumeng, Beishang, Teacherma

LCK

GEN (-230) vs KT (+165)

A lot of people think KT will win this one. I am not 100% certain I’m in that boat. GEN have not been perfect like we are used to in recent weeks, but they are still elite. They now have to fight for that coveted 1st seed because they did not show up against Hanwha, and this should be a wake up call for them. KT are good but they have nothing to play for. They are locked into their playoff spot and might want to hide their main strategies from their opponents. I think GEN will take this game very seriously and at their best they are in another tier of skill than KT. I do believe GEN should win this game, especially if KT isn’t going full force. If KT is going 100% it can be competitive and KT is more viable. If you want to be contrarian you can use KT in GPPs, especially Aiming, but I don’t think GEN throw this game away.

Players to watch (GEN): Ruler, Bdd, Clid
Players to watch (KT): Aiming, Kuro, bono

T1 (-475) vs AF (+305)

This is another game where one team has nothing to play for and one team does. AF will not make playoffs and they will not hit relegation either. They are simply playing for pride and job security at this point. T1 are still competing for the 1-3 seeds in the playoff and I do not think they mess around in this one. I have a feeling they will just come out and destroy AF. AF have lost their magic from earlier in the season and I don’t think they will be that invested into this game. Be wary of substitutes in this one but I think T1 should have this easily.

Players to watch (T1): Teddy, Faker, Canna
Players to watch (AF): Kiin, Mystic

DWG (-300) vs SB (+205)

This game is interesting once again because of motivation factors. SB are playing to avoid a relegation spot and will need this win to help their position in the standings. Damwon are locked into their 5th place spot and will face KT in the playoffs no matter what. Damwon are a very inconsistent team and whether or not they show out for this game is a mystery. This game could end up being  quite high scoring because as far as the LCK goes these two teams are both pretty aggressive. They fight quite often and I do think that these games will be pretty close despite Damwon being better than Sandbox in a vacuum. This is a tough one to call for me but I am on the Sandbox side for this one due to the unique circumstances.

Players to watch (DWG): Nuguri, Showmaker, Ghost
Players to watch (SB): Route, Dove, Gorilla

Favourite stacks: IG > RNG > EDG > GEN > T1 > SB > WE> DWG > OMG > DMO > KT > AF
