LCS Split Saturday 3/14

Hello everyone and welcome to this League of Legends breakdown article where we will be discussing this Saturdays (3/14) LCS split! With basically every other sport on the shelf, for now, we should see a rise in Esports popularity for the time being! As always, you can find me in Slack, for Esports we have a channel called #esports, so go ahead and join in there and find me @AuburnFan30 -STAFF, or @AUFan30 on Twitter! Let’s dive right in!

Teams

When choosing our team slots, there are several factors that are scored here, including: turret kills, dragon kills, baron kills, first blood, win, and win in under 30 minutes played. Instead of running data and stats on this, I prefer to just look at odds to victory. This is due to the fact that these points will be scored no matter what if a team wins, as they are essential categories to victory. So I compiled a list of top odds of victory in every major format to make our choice easier! *NOTE* We normally don’t want to stack against our team unless it is a very small slate. This is not a small slate and we will not want to stack against our team!

Starting Rosters

One important thing to note with LoL rosters is that teams do use subs. Luckily, we haven’t seen much sub-activity and I’m not too worried about any subs for this slate.  I do want to include each team’s starting roster here for us though, that away we know what players to target.

Cloud9:

Top – Licorice

JNG – Blaber

Mid – Nisqy

ADC – Zven

SUP – Vulcan

100Thieves:

Top – Ssumday

JNG – Meteos

Mid – Ryoma

ADC – CodySun

SUP – Stunt

Immortals:

Top – sOAZ

JNG – Xmithie

Mid – Eika

ADC – Apollo

SUP – Hakuho

Team SoloMid:

Top – Broken Blade

JNG – Dardoch

Mid – Bjergsen

ADC – Kobbe

SUP – Biofrost

Team Liquid: *NOTE* This will be Doublelift’s first game back as team ADC. I fully expect him to play and not be subbed out, but given how great Tactical has been as a fill-in, if Doublelift is struggling, it is possible he will be subbed. Rostering Doublelift or Tactical here will be risky.

Top – Impact

JNG – Broxah

Mid – Jensen

ADC – Doublelift

SUP – CoreJJ

Evil Geniuses:

Top – Kumo

JNG – Svenskeren

Mid – Jiizuke

ADC – Bang

SUP – Zeyzal

Dignitas:

Top – Huni

JNG – Akaadian

Mid – Froggen

ADC – Johnsun

SUP – Aphromoo

Counter Logic Gaming:

Top – Ruin

JNG – Wiggily

Mid – Pobelter

ADC – Wind

SUP – Smoothie

Top Laners

I created a database that was able to pull in stats from this season per player, and the main stat incorporated here will be “Fpts”, which is averaging fantasy points scored per match per player. I hope everyone finds this data useful! For Top Laners, we want to target guys who will have CS/M and Kill upside, but Top Lane is easily the position you may want to punt the most. Top Laners typically score better on teams that will win, as their job will be to help team scoring more than their overall scoring for DFS purposes. As we can see, Broken Blade is the top overall average fantasy scorer, as TSM is 8-6 on the season and Broken Blade is more of an assassin Top Laner.  Licorice, the Top Laner for Cloud9 (13-1 on the split), focuses more on a pressure role to help team victory rather than go for kills, as evidenced by our Kill Participation (KP AVG) tab. He also scores almost as much as Broken Blade on average as a result.

Mid Laners

I created a database that was able to pull in stats from this season per player, and the main stat incorporated here will be “Fpts”, which is averaging fantasy points scored per match per player. I hope everyone finds this data useful! Mid Laners are in charge of running the show for the team, the captain if you will. We like to spend up a bit here as we can see the discrepancy between top and bottom in scoring. The one guy I’m really interested in here will be Pobelter. He is way too mispriced here, and as we can see in his 6 game sample size with CLG (who sent Crown to Academy, leaving Pobelter as the only Mid Laner on the team roster) Pobelter actually scores the second-most fantasy points per mid laner. Esports isn’t a popular market on DK and I fully believe we’ll get some leverage here with everyone chasing Nisqy (who is an amazing play as well).

Junglers

I created a database that was able to pull in stats from this season per player, and the main stat incorporated here will be “Fpts”, which is averaging fantasy points scored per match per player. I hope everyone finds this data useful! Junglers will roam around every part of the map in search of beginning a team fight. We want Jungler with high KP AVG as well as CS, Gold, and Assists as our main focus.

ADC

I created a database that was able to pull in stats from this season per player, and the main stat incorporated here will be “Fpts”, which is averaging fantasy points scored per match per player. I hope everyone finds this data useful! ADC = Attack Damage Carry. We really want to hone in our KDA, Kills, and Assists here. These guys are the highest scorers per position, so stacking studs here is a great strategy.

Support

I created a database that was able to pull in stats from this season per player, and the main stat incorporated here will be “Fpts”, which is averaging fantasy points scored per match per player. I hope everyone finds this data useful! Supports jobs are to keep the ADC alive. They will pile on the assists as anything they do to help their ADC in a fight will count as an assist if the ADC is able to kill the opponents. So really focus on Assists here.

Lineup Construction

For this 4 match slate, I’m focusing more on a balanced approach. I’ll likely pay up at ADC and Team, and punt Top lane. You almost NEVER want to stack against the team you choose unless it is a small slate, which this is not. When stacking a lineup for GPP’s, it is fine to go 4 players from one team, being JNG, Mid, ADC, Sup preferably. In cash, we may want to stay balanced here and stack ADC with the same team Support (so Zven/Vulcan, for example).

When choosing a team to target, we want a team who will win, but we also want the match to last as long as possible for the maximum amount of fantasy points possible. Therefore, Cloud9 will likely be chalk but can be outscored by Team SoloMid or even Team Liquid or Team Dignitas in GPP’s. Get exposure to all of them, and in cash, I’d just lock in Cloud9 for the floor they bring.

Esports RS

@taco is making an RS for Esports, and either he or I will be around to help you navigate your way through it! Expect it to come out tonight at some point!

Thanks for reading this breakdown article, and hopefully some of the tabs can make since with the color-coded columns! If you have any questions, be sure to head over to #esports and ping me (@AuburnFan30 – STAFF), @Pvaaron, or @taco with any questions regarding this slate! Good luck Army and let’s see those helmets at the top!
