Full Court Press:

Detroit Pistons @ Cleveland Cavaliers

Vegas Total: 215

Vegas Spread: DET -2.5

From the Pistons, the Cavs don’t really present a tough matchup for anyone as they’ve been pretty bad defensively all year long. I have a good amount of interest in Andre Drummond or Blake Griffin as they both have favorable matchups, but they limit each other’s ceilings by being on the floor at the same time together. Luke Kennard has been a bit all over the place as of late, that said he’s getting a ton of minutes against a team that is worse against the guard position. Derrick Rose has a 33.5% usage rate off the bench and the spot that the Cavs have struggled against is the PG position, as Garland’s defense is not NBA ready yet, so he’s firmly in play here for GPPs.

For the Cavs side of the ball, Kevin Love has a solid matchup here against Blake Griffin, as neither of these two guys have any interest in playing defense. Tristan Thompson also has a decent matchup here, but he’ll have to slug it out with Andre Drummond downlow all night, so I’m not in love with the matchup. Darius Garland has been playing better as of late, but he’s still really only in play for mass GPP entries as the consistency isn’t there. For a deep GPP shot, you can also look to both Collin Sexton and Jordan Clarkson who plays heavy minutes off the bench.

5-star plays: Andre Drummond, Kevin Love

4-star plays: Tristan Thompson, Blake Griffin, Luke Kennard, Derrick Rose

Deeper Value: Darius Garland, Collin Sexton, Jordan Clarkson

GPP Sleeper: Jordan Clarkson

Orlando Magic @ Washington Wizards

Vegas Total: 227

Vegas Spread: WSH -1.5

This is one of the higher paced games on the night, so we’ll want some pieces from this game for sure. From the Magic, Jonathan Isaac gets a great matchup here, and the Magic rely on him defensively and on FanDuel he’s always in play with his ability to rack up those peripheral stats, but you can go with him with Nikola Vucevic still out, however, Aaron Gordon being back does take away some of his usage. Evan Fournier is playing a ton of minutes lately and really playing good basketball, he’s been scoring a ton lately without Vuc and they’ll need him to do so again tonight in what should be a pace up game for the Magic. Markelle Fultz is now getting a consistent 30ish minutes, I don’t hate it if you happen to land on him. Mo Bamba isn’t going to play a ton of minutes but he’s a pretty efficient fantasy producer. There are a few pieces here that I like especially in what should be a faster paced game for the Magic.

This game has the 3rd highest game total on the slate so we will want to get some exposure here. Starting with Washington, Bradley Beal is priced up to where he should be finally especially for this matchup. With that being said, he’s going to have the ball in his hands a ton and could shoot 30+ times in this game. Thomas Bryant hasn’t been great as of late but he gets a solid matchup here against the Magic who are missing one of their better defenders in Vuc. He’s more of a GPP guy for me, but I do like him. Davis Bertans has been playing out of his mind lately and I like him quite a bit in an up-tempo game and he also won’t have to face the tough defense of the Magic starting 5. Both Mo Wagner and Isaiah Thomas are GPP guys who could thrive in a fast game like this one but still just GPP guys at best. The guy I like here is Mo Wagner, as he can put up FPs in a hurry, however he was out last game so that’s something to keep an eye on.

5-star play: Bradley Beal

4-star play: Jonathan Isaac, Thomas Bryant, Aaron Gordon, Evan Fournier

Deeper Value: Markelle Fultz, Mo Wagner, Davis Bertans, Ish Smith

GPP Sleeper: Mo Wagner, Davis Bertans, Ish Smith

Miami Heat @ Toronto Raptors

Vegas Total: TBD

Vegas Spread: TOR -5.0

From the Heat, Jimmy Butler is going to be the premier play on the Heat, I like this matchup for him he should be able to stuff the stat sheet and even with Winslow back he’s still going to have the ball in his hands a ton and he always gets up for big games like this against a tough Toronto team. Bam Adebayo has 43+ FanDuel points in three of his last 6 games, however, he also gets a slightly tougher matchup against the Toronto frontcourt which has been pretty solid all year long. I still like him a good amount todaythough. Kelly Olynyk, Justise Winslow, Kendrick Nunn, and Goran Dragic are all GPP plays for me in a game where the second unit should get plenty of run.

Starting with the Raptors, Pascal Siakam now has been really consistent so far this year, but I don’t love his price on FanDuel, especially given the matchup. But it’s tough not to like him here despite the slow gameplay. Fred VanVleet is coming off of a few down games, but has been one of the more consistent guards in the league, but he gets a decent matchup against VV, who isn’t as good on defense as Lowry is. This is one of the slower paced games on the slate, so I won’t be targeting it a ton unless some value opens up.

5-star play: Jimmy Butler

4-star play: Pascal Siakam, Fred VanVleet, Bam Adebayo

Deeper Value: OG Anunoby, Goran Dragic, Kelly Olynyk

GPP Sleeper: Goran Dragic

Dallas Mavericks @ New Orleans Pelicans

Vegas Total: 233

Vegas Spread: DAL -4.0

Starting with the Mavericks, it’s really two guys here for me, Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis. Porzingis will be the lower owned of the two, but Luka is an elite play even at his elevated price tag. I expect both of these guys to show out here tonight, as the Pelicans are just a bad team defensively, and this game has the highest total on the slate. This might shape up to be a lock Luka in and move on night. If you have to go anywhere else on the Mavericks, Tim Hardaway Jr. is in play if he continues to start, but he is very scoring dependent.

For the Pels, Brandon Ingram continues to play great and has 40+ FanDuel points in 5 of his last 7 and the two other games he didn’t, he scored 39.5 and 39.4 FPs, he’s about as consistent as they come right now and draws a solid matchup tonight, as the Pels will rely on his scoring to keep pace in this game. Jrue Holiday continues to play well but I think his ceiling is a little limited here if both Lonzo and Hart play. Derrick Favors is a GTD and his price is elevated still so I’m fading even if he plays. JJ Redick is also pretty cheap here, but I’ll like him more if Ball is ruled out. Jahlil Okafor is also in play here, especially if Favors sits again. There’s a ton of options from this game, and we’ll want to target it with the highest total on the slate.

5-star play: Luka Doncic, Brandon Ingram

4-star play: Kristaps Porzingis, Jrue Holiday

Deeper Value: Tim Hardaway Jr., J.J. Redick, Josh Hart, Jahlil Okafor

GPP Sleeper: Tim Hardaway Jr., Josh Hart, Jahlil Okafor

Houston Rockets @ San Antonio Spurs

Vegas Total: TBD

Vegas Spread: HOU -4.5

From the Spurs, DeMar DeRozan draws an incredibly solid matchup as the Rockets haven’t been able to defend shooting guards at all this year, as that Harden defense is non-existent. LaMarcus Aldridge is a GTD, and if he ends up sitting tonight, that’s just even more of a boost to DeRozan and Murray. Dejounte Murray isn’t getting enough minutes to be viable for me, but if Aldridge sits they may have to play him a little more in this game, as he’s well past that 10 game mark for a minutes restriction. Rudy Gay is a secondary option unless they start him again. Jakob Poeltl will also see a nice boost if Aldridge sits, and if Capela plays as well, as they’ll need his size downlow to matchup there.

For the Rockets, it always is going to come down to whether you want to roster, Russell Westbrook or James Harden as the two of them still do eat into each others usage. Tonight is more of a Westbrook night in my opinion, as the Spurs have struggled to defend PGs all year long, and Derozan is a solid defender who could give Harden some trouble on the offensive end. Clint Capela is expected to play tonight as well, and will draw a better matchup is Aldridge sits. If both Eric Gordon and Danuel House are out again tonight, then you can go right back to the well with Ben McLemore who will once again play a ton of minutes, although I doubt he goes for 40+ FPs again.

5-star play: James Harden, Russell Westbrook, Demar Derozan (if Aldridge sits)

4-star play: LaMarcus Aldridge (if he plays), Dejounte Murray, Clint Capela

Deeper Value: Ben McLemore, Austin Rivers

GPP Sleeper: Derrick White, Bryn Forbes, Ben McLemore

Los Angeles Lakers @ Denver Nuggets

Vegas Total: 208.5

Vegas Spread: DEN -2.0

From the Lakers, it’s really just LeBron James and Anthony Davis for me. Both have usage rates above 30% with this Lakers team and they both also have elite ceilings, if you have the salary for either of them do it. However, I’m tending to lean that this will be more of a LeBron game as he AD draws a pretty difficult matchup down low against Millsap and Jokic.

This game has one of the lowest totals on the night so I’m not going to be targeting it a ton. Nikola Jokic is going to be your premier play from the Nuggets, as he has been shooting a ton lately and the Nuggets will need him offensively to step up if they want to win this game. Jamal Murray is also in play here, as they’ll need other guys to step up here, including Gary Harris as well. The guy I’m liking here is Will Barton as he has been playing really well lately, and his price isn’t too expensive. I like playing Paul Millsap against biggers 4s as well, but I can see him getting into foul trouble here if they match him up against AD to start, so that may open up a path for Jerami Grant and Mason Plumlee to see some additional minutes, they’re both deep dart throw GPP options though.

5-star play: LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Nikola Jokic

4-star play: Jamal Murray, Will Barton, Paul Millsap

Deeper Value: Gary Harris, Jerami Grant, Mason Plumlee

GPP Sleeper: Gary Harris, Jerami Grant, Mason Plumlee

Portland Trailblazers @ Los Angeles Clippers

Vegas Total: 230.5

Vegas Spread: LAC -9.5

This game has the second highest total of the night, so we’ll want to target it as the hammer game as well as it should be relatively close according to Vegas. Damian Lillard is obviously your number one option from the Trailblazers, but he draws a difficult matchup against Beverley here tonight. This puts C.J. McCollum squarely in play as they’ll need his scoring as well in order to keep pace in this game. He also plays a little with the second unit so Dame doesn’t completely take away his usage. Hassan Whiteside also is firmly in play here, as the spot the Clippers do struggle is against bigs. I have a feeling some value will open up here as well, so keep an eye on the news for that.

For the Clippers, we get a fast paced game against a team who doesn’t play defense, so your top dogs of Kawhi Leonard and Paul George are obviously in play here.  The write-up on this team is relatively simple, the superstars are elite while Lou Williams, Montrezl Harrell, and Patrick Beverley are elite GPP plays. I especially like the pairing of Lou Williams and Montrezl Harrell tonight here, as they should see more burn if this game gets out of hand.

5-star play: Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, Damian Lillard

4-star play: C.J. McCollum, Lou Williams, Montrezl Harrell, Hassan Whiteside

Deeper Value: Patrick Beverley

GPP Sleeper: Patrick Beverley
