Welcome to the DFS Army NBA Free Squares article, where I will try to break down my favorite NBA Free Squares and Fanduel and Draftkings for Today’s NBA slate.
So what is a Free Square exactly? In DFS we define the Free Square as a player to build your lineups around. Generally, this player represents the closest we can find to a sure thing for the slate.
This column is all about trying to identify the free square for a particular slate. Often times, this will be a low-cost player who is thrust into a starting role and sure to make or exceed value. The type of player that allows us to load up the rest of our lineup with high salary studs. Occasionally it will be a high priced stud in a great spot. Each slate we will take a look at three or four players which represent great value on the day’s slate of games and choose the one which best represents the top value and floor play to earn the title of the slates Free Square
My NBA Free Squares for Today 🇺🇸 December 3rd 🇺🇸
This is a tough slate because a lot of these plays are speculative at the moment. We don’t really have any official injury news yet so I’m giving my best guess here on some of these.
🇺🇸 Ben McLemore $5,100 / $3,700
If Danuel House is out again tonight, we get an easy plug and play value play on Fanduel with Ben McLemore. He’s priced at only $3,700 on Fanduel so I’ll have plenty of him there, instead of Draftkings where he is $5,100. He played 33 minutes last game against the Hawks and scored 47.75 fantasy points. I’m not sure we can expect that type of game again, against a tougher Spurs team, but the value is there and he really opens things up for us in the rest of our lineup.
🇺🇸 Demar DeRozan $7,200 / $8,200
LaMarcus Aldridge is OUT tonight for the Spurs. DeMar DeRozan gets a massive usage increase for the Spurs. With Aldridge off the floor, DeRozan gets +6.23% usage and +15.63 fp/48. He’ll be the focal point of the Offense in a game against Rockets team that isn’t too fond of playing Defense these days. He’s not “free” but he would be in line for a huge workload tonight so keep an eye on the injury news.

🇺🇸 Kristaps Porzingis $6,500 / $8,100
He’s simply way too cheap on Draftkings today at only $6,500 against the Pelicans. This game has the 2nd highest total on the slate at 233 and the Mavericks have the 2nd highest team total at 118.5. The Pelicans will be without Derrick Favors so they will be small up front. Porzingis should be able to do whatever he wants in this high paced matchup tonight.
🇺🇸 Rui Hachimura $5,200 / $5,400
Mortiz Wagner is out tonight for the Wizards so Hachimura should get plenty of run in this one. He played 38, 26 and 31 minutes in his last 3 games and he’s scored 48.75, 29 and 17.5 fantasy points in those games. The matchup vs the Magic is not necessarily an easy one, but, they will be without Nikola Vucevic so that should help. He’s a solid value across the industry and will likely be one of the higher owned players on this slate.
