QB

Jamie Newman (Wake Forest DK $8,400/FD $10,100)

Newman had quite the day in what turned out to be a shootout with Utah State last week.  He threw for over 400 yards and 3 touchdowns as well as rushing 21 times for 36 yards and a touchdown.  What was amazing about this game for Wake Forest is that they ran over 100 plays!  This week, he goes up against a Rice team that gave up over 280 yards passing last year and was bottom 10 S&P+ against the pass in the country last year.  They faced Army last week who threw the ball a total of 8 times so we cannot judge any improvement yet, but Newman is in a great situation on this slate.

Bryce Perkins (Virginia DK 8,000/FD $10,300)

Perkins threw the ball 34 times for 181 yards and rushed 18 times for 44 yards against Pitt.  He was not as efficient as he can be but he is in a great spot going up against FBS William and Mary.  This is a team that faced Virginia Tech last season giving up over 580 total yards.  Look for Virginia to try to get their passing game in sync this game, and possibly for William and Mary to keep it close.    In their last 3 meetings, UVA won 28-10 in 2017, 35-29 in 2015 and 40-3 in 2011.  In 2009 William and Mary actually beat UVA 26-14.  If this game stays close, Perkins will have a chance to stay in the game which is great for our DFS value.

Jayden Daniels (Arizona State $6,700)

Daniels started his first game last week against Kent State and ended with 284 yards passing with 2 touchdowns and a rushing TD.  This week, he gets to go up against a Sacramento State team that gave up over 300 yards passing to Southern Oregon last week.  This is a game that he can continue to grow as a true freshman quarterback and gain confidence.  He is only on DK this week and at his price, he could be the value of the week.

We aren’t just for big-time players.  Check out this amazing takedown by DFS Army Member trippnup2.  Come join all of us in our coaching channels today and see what the DFS industry is talking about!

RB

Eno Benjamin (Arizona State DK $9,600)

Benjamin is the most expensive player on the DK slate by $1,200 and he is well worth it.  He is going up against a Sacramento State defense that was 121st (out of 124) worst against the run in the FCS last year giving up over 260 yards a game.  In his first game, he ended up with 22 carries for over 100 yards rushing and got some work as a receiver with 3 catches out of the backfield.  The only thing that should stop Benjamin this week is when he is taken out of the game for his backup.

Cade Carney (Wake Forest DK $7,000/FD $9,400)

Carney ended a tight game against Utah State with 25 carries for 105 yards.  He was the bell cow back with only Christian Beal seeing carries at RB other than Carney and Beal only had 11 carries.  He gets to go up against a Rice team that was bottom 25 against the run (S&P+ rankings) last year giving up just under 5 yards per carry.  While he did not see the endzone in Week 1, if he continues to see north of 20 carries a game, he should hit pay dirt plenty of times.

Aston Walker (Rice DK $5,800/FD $7,800)

Walker got the most carries in week 1 for the Owls with 18 but was outrushed by Nashon Ellerbe who has 103 yards on 9 carries including a 54-yard run.  While I love Ellerbe, he is coming off of a knee injury from the start of last season and I want volume against a Wake Forest team that gave up almost 6 yards a carry week 1 against Utah State.  Walker ended up with 72 yards and a touchdown as well as a reception out of the backfield.  This is a GPP play as this is an RBBC situation and Ellerbe could be called upon more in week 2.

Congrats to member rjboogey’s on great week 1 results!  Be sure to check out coaches notes and breakdowns of all of the slates as well as our confidence ratings in those players!

WR

Kendall Hinton (Wake Forest DK $5,900/FD $8,400)

Kendall Hinton made the game-winning touchdown catch on fourth down at the end of the game vs. Utah State last week, but that is not the only reason I love him this week.  Hinton, a senior, was the starting QB for Wake Forest his freshman year.  He has developed into one of the top receivers for Demon Deacons and was tied with Sage Surratt with 11 targets in week 1.  He is not as much of a downfield receiver as Surrat, but you get him at a great discount this week.  Going against a Rice team with a terrible pass defense, you get a top wideout at a discounted price in Hinton.

CT Thomas (Boise State DK $5,300/FD $7,900)

In a game that saw 51 passing attempts (and 108 total offensive plays) for Boise State, Thomas had 5 receptions on 9 targets for a team-high 103 yards.  Thomas is a deep threat on a team that is going to try to run a lot of plays.  He is going up against a Marshall team that has a decent passing defense, but he is one of the primary passing targets for a team that is expected to put up over 30 points this week.  At his price, he is a great option in all formats.

Brandon Aiyuk (Arizona State DK $6,000)

Aiyuk and freshman quarterback Jayden Daniels showed an early connection in week 1 gaining 7 of Daniels 19 total targets to wide receivers.  He is the clear number 1 receiver this year yet is not priced like it this week.  He is a deep play threat as is shown with his 140 yards against Kent State and gets to go up against FCS Sacramento State this week.  He should see plenty of targets and as we have seen is a big-play threat.  As long as he stays in the game and is not pulled for a backup, Aiyuk is one of the top plays on the slate.
