Race Notes

Vegas marks the final race for the Xfinity Series before the playoffs start. The playoff field is pretty much set with zero expectation that there will be any surprise winners. The average green flag run since stage racing was added in 2017 is about 20 laps. There is likely going to be two long runs though meaning long run speed is still important. In terms of strategy this is a very straight forward race. This race will start late afternoon with a very high track temperature expect. This should lead to more tire fall off than we saw in the spring race here. The elite teams absolutely dominate here and have more separation then at pretty much any other tracks. There are 38 cars on the entry list meaning all 38 cars will make the race.

As always the DFS Army Research Station will be available and the Domination Station will be available AFTER starting lineups are set.

Lineup Building

Dominator / Top Tier

For this race we will look for two dominators with a very small shot at a third. The top teams of Reddick, Bell and Custer are going to be the clear favorites this week. Reddick led 62 laps here in March and Cole Custer led 47 before Kyle Busch took over and dominated the second half of the race. The rest of the top tier price wise are pretty much the best of the rest. Allgaier, Briscoe, Cindric and Gragson are all legit top 5 cars but will likely be a step off the big three.

Mid Tier

This group has a couple new additions this week with Elliott Sadler driving the #10 for Kaulig Racing and Ryan Truex is back in the #8 for JRM. Riley Herbst is back in the #18 for Joe Gibbs as well. This field is a little weak overall meaning a lot of drivers have elevated finishing position upside. Guys like Haley, Jones, Annett and Nemechek should all expect to finish inside the top 10. Since this is the case we will look for offers the best place differential upside. As mentioned before this track rewards elite equipment most.

Low Tier/Punts

This is a high DNF race in recent years with not just multiple start and parks but multiple cars being involved in accidents. Any driver who starts deep in the field will have a good shot at producing a strong showing on DK. There is likely to be a few start and parks this week so there is a built in floor with some of the back end teams as well. There is definitely a strategy in play here where you play the elite guys together and play multiple punts with them. Qualifying will be key to seeing what strategies we have available to us.

I will also answer any questions you may have in the VIP Slack!
