Race Info

The Truck Series is back at Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the second time in 2019. This week is the final race of the first playoff round for the series with Brett Moffitt has locked his way into the next round with back to back wins and Ross Chastain has a fairly comfortable points margin. Six drivers advance and drivers 3rd through 7th in points are separated by a total of 8 points. Lots of on track battles are going to be extremely important throughout the entire race. The trucks run wide open around Vegas. This enables a draft that keeps the top trucks around each other and even sets up multiple passes for the lead. Kyle Busch ruined this trend in the spring race here but the four previous races saw four differently double digit lap leaders.  The track temp will certainly be high for the race. This could lead to long run speed actually mattering and there being some tire wear.

  • This will be something to keep an eye on. There are currently 36 trucks on the entry list meaning we will have 4 fail to make the race.
  • As always the DFS Army Research Station will be available and the Domination Station will be available AFTER starting lineups are set.

Lineup Building

Dominator

Kyle turned this into a one dominator race in the spring race here however that is not what we have normally seen here in the past. Fast laps are spread out more due to the draft and we see multiple leaders throughout the race. For this race we will look to play 2-3 doms. Moffitt and Friesen are going to be the favorites heading into this race as both are fantastic on these 1.5 mile tracks and were also the only two drivers who were able to compete with Busch earlier this year. Enfinger won here last year and has been one of the best trucks all year so he will definitely be a top contender.

Mid Tier/Low Tier/Punts

There are tons of new team situations for this week and it will be interesting to see where they fall pricing wise. Justin Johnson will be driving for new team Kart Idaho. Spencer Davis will be driving a truck prepared by his K&N team as will Derek Kraus. Angela Ruch returns to the #44 for Niece Motorsports and Colin Garrett will be driving the #38 for them as well. Part timers back this week include Dylan Lupton, Codie Rohrbaugh, Cory Roper, Anthony Alfredo, and Tyler Hill. Christian Eckes will be back in the #51 truck that dominated here in March. It will be very interesting to see how things shake out with pricing and where these teams end up qualifying. Place differential will be key in this group as will avoiding accidents. With such an inexperienced group it is harder to project what we will get from this group.

For more information on each driver remember to check out the new VIP article called The Inside Line: Truck Series for this weeks race. If you are not already a VIP member sign up and use code LARKIN to save 20%!!

I will also answer any questions you may have in the VIP Slack!
