Race Info

The start of the Truck Series playoffs are here and the first race of round one is at Bristol Motor Speedway. For those unfamiliar with Bristol it is a ultra high banked, half mile short track that setups up perfectly for tight racing. Surprisingly, the last few years have been relatively tame in the Truck Series here with five of the last six races having five cautions or less. If this trend continues long run speed as well as a drivers ability to navigate lap traffic will be massive.  The outside lane is a massive advantage here especially on restarts. Due to this NASCAR applies the PJ1 traction compound to the bottom groove. There are currently 37 trucks on the entry list meaning we will have 5 drivers who fail to qualify for the race. Make sure to pay attention to who the DNQ’s are so you don’t have any in your lineups.

As always the DFS Army Research Station will be available and the Domination Station will be available AFTER starting lineups are set.

Lineup Building

Dominator

Most lineups should look to play two lineups with a slight chance for the need of three dominators. With leaders catching lap traffic quickly and not having clear track, fast laps are a little more spread out than normal. We normally see one main dominator who leads 50-60% the laps with either one or two other drivers sharing the bulk of the rest of the laps. Of course like most tracks the KBM trucks have a great history here. Ross Chastain will of course be a threat this week. Someone to keep an eye on will be John Hunter Nemechek driving the #8 this week. He dominated this race a year ago leading 104 laps before finishing 3rd. Of course Friesen, Crafton, Sauter and Enfinger are all threats as well.

Mid Tier

The middle tier is absolutely packed this week with potential. Below $9,000 we see Burton, Creed, and Gilliland on the higher end. All three driving elite equipment. Below that last weeks winner Austin Hill comes in at $8,100. We then get Chandler Smith driving the #51 at $7,800 and last year biggest dom John Hunter Nemechek at $7,700. All these drivers offer top five upside and even dominator potential. In addition to those more obvioous plays you still have guys like Parker Kligerman, who finished 4th here last season, Sam Meyer driving the #21 for GMS and Raphael Lassard driving the #46 for KBM. Feels like a week with tons of potential when it comes to lineup making which is a great thing.

Low Tier/Punts

Due to the depth of the field this area will be hit hardest. There will be five DNQ’s with most the drivers if not all coming from this bottom area. Drivers like Cobb who have been able to make races and ride around due to low truck count are likely to be the drivers most affected. Once qualifying is over and we see who has missed the race we will have a much better idea of who to play from this area.

For more information on each driver remember to check out the new VIP article called The Inside Line: Truck Series for this weeks race. If you are not already a VIP member sign up and use code LARKIN to save 20%!!

I will also answer any questions you may have in the VIP Slack!
