WNBA FULL COURT PRESS

The WNBA is well underway now and the wins have started coming in! Congrats to Seoexpert for this excellent takedown of the DK WNBA main GPP!

Seattle Storm @ Washington Mystics

The Storm travel to the nation’s capital to take on the Mystics tonight, looking to win b2b games for the first time this season. Natasha Howard continues to be the strong leader this team needs, propelling them forward no matter what. She and her team have a tough matchup tonight, but she’ll be needed for the Storm to win this one. Jewell Loyd makes for an interesting target here. She finally appears to be out of her slump, going for 40 and 35 Fpts in her last two games. She gets a tough matchup tonight, but it is one she can handle. With Loyd regaining her form, this reduces the pressure on Jordin Canada to be everything for the team. In a way, this reduces the appeal for Canada. That said, she has shown the upside to make her dangerous tonight. Alysha Clark makes for another solid option tonight. But for her last game, she has been phenomenal so far this season, doing everything that is asked of her. She’ll be needed again tonight.

For the Mystics, it all starts up top with Elena Delle Donne. So far this season, she hasn’t put up the numbers we are expecting, having failed to score 20 points in any game this season. That said, a WNBA Finals rematch, in which her team got swept, is exactly what the doctor ordered to cure her lack of elite scoring. Natasha Cloud has had an excellent season, consistently testing her season game after game. Ariel Atkins finally broke out of her slump last game, blasting the Sun to the tune of 42 Fpts. Both Cloud and Atkins are great options tonight, however, one of them will get the dreaded Alysha Clark treatment. Whoever gets Clark will most likely struggle tonight. Atkins appears to be the most likely candidate for that. Kristi Toliver has quietly been having a solid season. Given her excellent matchup tonight, the Mystics will need her to take full advantage. Tianna Hawkins and Aerial Power have stepped up nicely to fill voids left by departures of key players. They both make for good value options tonight.

5-Star Play: Elena Delle Donne, Natasha Howard, Jewell Loyd

4-Star Play: Kristi Tolliver, Natasha Cloud, Alysha Clark, Jordin Canada

Deep Value: Aerial Powers

GPP Sleeper: Tianna Hawkins

Connecticut Sun @ Minnesota Lynx

Jonquel Jones will take her Sun team into the defensive pit that is the Lynx. They’ll look to replicate the success the Liberty had against the Lynx on Wednesday. As a matter of principle, centers against the Lynx have been a no-no this season for me, and that continues tonight. That said, Jones can have an excellent game in this spot. Alyssa Thomas makes for a fantastic option tonight. She is primed to take advantage of the Fowles/Jones battle. Her overall playmaking ability is suited to this type of game. Courtney Williams has been a bright spot for the Sun, doing just about everything to help them win games. She’ll get a tough but beatable matchup here tonight against the Lynx. Jasmine Thomas has struggled this season; however, this matchup is perfect for her. The Lynx are a turnover-prone team, and J. Thomas just happens to be a steals machine. She could conceivably make her way into the 30-40 Fpts range tonight just from steals. Shekinna Stricklen is an extremely inconsistent player, but the Lynx are susceptible to knock down shooters and her ability to pick up some steals would be beneficial here tonight.

The Lynx really need a bounce-back game after a bad beat to the Liberty. Sylvia Fowles will be leading this team out tonight with vengeance in her eyes. She gets a solid matchup against Jonquel Jones in a battle worth watching. Napheesa Collier gets an excellent matchup here tonight. We just saw Ariel Atkins excel in this spot. Collier will be relied on heavily by her team to get the W tonight. Odyssey Sims continues to be an extremely consistent option for the Lynx. It’s only a matter of time before she explodes. In general, I don’t attack the Sun with guards, but Sims can be an exception to that rule. Damiris Dantas is locked into 30 MPG for the foreseeable future as the Lynx figure out how to deal with Shepard’s season-ending injury. The matchup is good enough for her to make her presence felt tonight. Finally, Lexie Brown has been a magician off the bench for the Lynx and her good play will continue to be required night in and night out.

5-Star Play: Sylvia Fowles, Alyssa Thomas, Napheesa Collier, Courtney Williams

4-Star Play: Jonquel Jones, Jasmine Thomas, Odyssey Sims

Deep Value: Lexie Brown

GPP Sleeper: Shekinna Stricklen

Los Angeles Sparks @ Phoenix Mercury

Nneka Ogwumike is the key figure to watch for the Sparks, in watch should be a defensive game. With Chiney Ogwumike battling out down low with Griner, Nneka is in position to take advantage. She’ll need to have a huge game for her team to have a chance at winning this one. Chelsea Gray has a tough matchup tonight; however, we have seen her perform in these tough matchups in the past. She’ll be needed big time tonight for her team to have a chance. It’s hard to predict how the minutes on this Sparks team will be distributed, but Tierra Ruffin-Pratt appears to have the safest minutes out of the rest. Ruffin-Pratt finally had a good offensive game and will look to keep up that momentum. Marina Mabrey continues to display her talent in the limited minutes she gets. If she gets more minutes, watch out.

DeWanna Bonner has been everything for this team. She is basically willing her team to victory night in and night out (à la Lebron James). Bonner gets a fantastic matchup tonight and you can be sure she’ll be taking advantage of it. Brittney Griner has been off this season, but over the last few games, she appears to be getting her game back. She gets an excellent matchup against Chiney tonight, making her a top option on this slate. The rest of the Mercury are an inconsistent bunch. Briann January goes from hot to cold on a per game basis. It’s hard to know which January shows up tonight. Essence Carson has not been the same since returning from injury. That said, she gets a matchup against her former team and we do know there’s nothing like a revenge narrative to get a player going. Leilani Mitchell continues to play around 24 MPG since being resigned. This makes her a solid option for the Mercury tonight. Finally, don’t sleep on Sancho Lyttle. Her minutes have been trending upwards, and her history against the Sparks is excellent.

5-Star Play: DeWanna Bonner, Brittney Griner, Nneka Ogwumike

4-Star Play: Chiney Ogwumike, Chelsea Gray, Leilani Mitchell

Deep Value: Tierra Ruffin-Pratt, Essence Carson

GPP Sleeper: Marina Mabrey, Sancho Lyttle

New York Liberty @ Las Vegas Aces

The final game of the night is a rematch of a game played just 5 days ago. The Liberty will continue to rely on Tina Charles to carry them this season. She is the best hope the Liberty have of keeping this game close at home. Small forwards have found tremendous success against the Aces this season. This makes Asia Durr a very intriguing option on this slate. She consistently gets good minutes and her production has been steadily increasing as the season progresses. Amanda Zahui B has been a woman on a mission over the last two games. She lives the team tomorrow and will want to make every second of this game count. She is a fantastic option on this slate. Kia Nurse played every single minute in the last game. She’ll be an extremely popular option tonight and for good reason. Her ability to create shots for others makes her a valuable option here. Brittany Boyd finally had the breakout game we have been waiting for. She is a very talented point guard, with the ability to rack up peripheral stats, making her a strong option in this matchup.

Liz Cambage is the first name you should look at on this slate. She gets a fantastic matchup against the Liberty in what could be a close game. Cambage should completely feast in this matchup, as it is hard to see Amanda Zahui B slowing her down. A’ja Wilson will have a slightly tougher matchup to deal with, but we have all seen what she is capable of. Attacking the Liberty through guards has been a thing. Kayla McBride finds herself in an excellent matchup and she’ll look to exploit it. Kelsey Plum has been consistent this season, making her a nice midrange option to target in a good spot. Jackie Young finally showed up this season last time they faced-off. She makes for an excellent option on tonight’s slate as well. The spot is good for Dearica Hamby if she can get the minutes.

5-Star Play: Liz Cambage, Asia Durr, Tina Charles, Kayla McBride, Amanda Zahui B

4-Star Play: Kelsey Plum, A’ja Wilson, Kia Nurse

Deep Value: Jackie Young

GPP Sleeper: Brittany Boyd
