Top Tier Plays

Kurt Busch

Kurt has been a force so far this season considering he simply has sucked at qualifying. Yet again he messed up his qualifying run thus we see him starting 19th. Kurt is as consistent as they get come race time though having finished 12th or better in each of the last 9 races. He offers position differential upside because of his poor qualifying run. As far as practice goes he was fastest single lap in first practice and 8th fastest in final practice. At $11800 he isn’t too expensive either and could end up being in the top 3 scorers of the slate.

Chase Elliott

I loved Chase coming into the weekend and now that he starts on the pole I am even more excited. All the Hendrick cars have shown lots of single car speed which is also promising. Chase won here last fall and has finished insided the top 5 in 5 of his 6 career races at Dover. He was solid in all practices and is a strong candidate to lead a lot of the 400 laps. He also possesses the best avg finish of any driver in recent Dover history.

Martin Truex Jr.

Truex was 2nd in final practice and 3rd in 10 lap average as well. He has finished top 10 in 8 of his last 10 races and also has 4 top 5s in his last 5 races. Truex is a strong contender for the win tomorrow while also offering some position differential upside starting 13th.

Value Plays

Kyle Larson

Larson has been ultra strong so far in his Dover career posting an average finish of 8.50 in his 10 races. That puts him 3rd among active drivers. He was the best car on the long run in final practice posting the best 10, 15 and 20 lap average. I fully expect him to stay top 5 all race unless his string of bad luck continues.

Daniel Suarez

Suarez has never finished outside the top 10 at Dover in his 4 races there. This puts him with the 2nd best average among active drivers. He was 6th in 10 lap average in final practice and looks to continue his strong start with Stewart Hass Racing. He starts 14th and is a strong contender for a top again.

Jimmie Johnson

Jimmie is amazing at Dover. 11 wins speaks for itself. Starts 12th but clearly has the ability to win this race.. Like his position diff. upside as well as his top 5 potential.

Erik Jones

Jones was 2nd in 10 lap average and extremely happy with his car. Doesn’t have the strong finishing history as the rest but did finish 4th in this race last year. At $9100 he is certainly affordable and can easily see his way into the top 10

Low Tier/Punts

Matt Dibenedetto, William Byron and Paul Menard

The 3 drivers I think can score top 10-15s if everything goes right.

Other than that Ty Dillon has been extremely consistent this year and Chris Buescher has great position upside potential. Buescher could certainly score well if he can get into that 18-22nd range he has spent most of 2019 at.
