This article focuses primarily on 3-Man snake draft strategy. Reason being is that you can easily apply this information to H2H as well as widen up to 4-Man contests, which is the average size of the daily GPPs. I’m going to break down what I saw in 20-30 drafts today and how we can exploit our opponents using our tools over on DFS Army.

Quick Trends

  • ADP 1: Trout came off the board first in every draft.
  • First round picks: Arenado, Story, and Betts
  • Chalk (players owned in 100% of drafts): Trout, Arenado, Story, Betts, Martinez, Blackmon, Reynolds, Bregman,  Hoskins, Verlander, and Wheeler.

Draft Projections & Rankings

The default draft rankings by position in Draft for their top positions. While most of these would be solid plays, they are vastly different than our projections and grades we developed in house at DFS Army where take into account many different metrics that these do not. Combining our brand new Starting Lineups Page, Domination Station, Articles, and research station, you can quickly see where some players in absolute smash spots should be drafted higher than what’s on this list.

Strategy

  • Pitching: Check in on our Carnage rankings from the Full Count, we have a lot of places to go today. However I’m a fan of reaching up for Verlander or Wheeler today. My projection model has them scoring more points on average than the next tier of pitching.
  • infield: Coors and 14 games with a lot of IRT higher than 5. Don’t fear the Draft projections on some of these guys. They are in good spots.
  • outfield: More bats than you can count. Easily enough to fill a 10m league.

Chalk Alert: Tonight has a rare occurrence with a very tight consensus on Chalk. 73% (11/15) players are in every content I’m in tonight. This means there is an opportunity to move slightly off core and grab some other bats in similar spots. It’s one of those nights where you can sweep a solid 100% win rate when this happens or drop a donut. You can make a 1-2 player pivot and hammer 100% exposure on one of them. For example, instead of Reynolds at IF, Eugenio Suarez. He’s up against soft pitching and clocks in at a .516 L7 wOBA and .560 ISO.
