PHI Joel Embiid – Doubtful

From everything that I’ve seen on Twitter and other social media, it appears that Philadelphia is likely going to be without Joel Embiid again tonight, which changes things up a bit, however, even without him last game the Sixers still handled the Nets quite easily. I expect this game to be a bit more competitive tonight and we’ve got some really solid fantasy options. I’m writing this article based on Embiid being out, if we get word that he is in it would bump down some of the Sixers starters and eliminate Boban and Greg Monroe as playable. Now let’s dig in!

We’ll start off with the Sixers. Like I said above, Joel Embiid is doubtful tonight which really bumps up the other starters for the Sixers, specifically Ben Simmons and Tobias Harris. Ben Simmons will be my favorite PG play on the night, as it is quite clear he is still bitter about the Jared Dudley comments and really wants to stick it to this Nets team. He and Tobias Harris will likely play close to 40 minutes again and both have the matchup to put up 40-50+ FP games. Jimmy Butler gets a bump as well as he’ll be tasked with causing havoc on the defensive side of the ball and should play a ton of minutes. I also have some interest in JJ Redick as the Nets really had trouble defending him on the perimeter last game. Greg Monroe will be my favorite value play on the night if Embiid is indeed ruled out and he starts again, and I will have some shares of Boban as well but he isn’t as cheap. Mike Scott is also a decent drop play as he can get hot from behind the arc.

Now we’ll move on to Brooklyn. Last game the only Nets starter to play 30 minutes was D’Angelo Russell, and I think he’ll be the only one who plays that much again. Therefore, I really don’t have any interest in any of the other starters aside from Russell and Jarrett Allen. D’Angelo Russell is going to be your main target here, as he’s likely to see the most minutes of any of the starters, and they’re going to need him to score if they want to win this game. Spencer Dinwiddie is my second favorite play from the Nets as he should see close to 30 minutes off the bench and his price actually dropped on FanDuel which makes him a really good value play. Joe Harris and DeMarre Carroll have both been playing terribly so I really don’t have any interest in them either. Caris LeVert came out of nowhere and basically broke the slate last time out, and while I like him as a GPP play, I’ll be underweight on him as I don’t think he repeats that performance. Ed Davis is a solid Drop Score play as well, although his minutes are hard to predict. Rondae Hollis-Jefferson is also a decent drop score play as he’s seen some minutes off the bench the past few games, especially if you think this game will be another blowout.

💥💥💥 5 star play – Ben Simmons, Tobias Harris, Jimmy Butler, D’Angelo Russell

💥💥 4 star play – Spencer Dinwiddie, Joel Embiid (if he plays), Caris LeVert (GPP)

💥 Value – Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, Ed Davis, Greg Monroe, Mike Scott

Denver Nuggets 101.6 at San Antonio Spurs 104.7
Vegas – SAS -3.5
Total – 208.0

This series is going to be a battle through and through, and I expect this game to be no different and the Nuggets really need a win here if they wan’t to make it back to Denver. This game has the lowest total on the night again, but there are still some good plays we can find if we really look hard.

For Denver, if I’m paying up at Center tonight, I’m going to be paying up for Jokic in an almost must-win game. Paul Millsap is still underpriced tonight, and while he dudded last game out, they’re going to need him to pick it up here in game 4, and I expect that he will. I think Jamal Murray has a decent game, I expect he’ll want to bounce back after getting shown up by Derrick White last game out. I can’t recommend him as a five star play, but I think he’ll have a really good game and try and shut some doubters up. Gary Harris is also still underpriced and has been playing over 30 minutes a night. I have some interest in Will Barton as well, based on the fact that he starts and is getting minutes. He hasn’t shown much throughout the series but he’ll be low-owned tonight which can differentiate you in large field GPPs. From the Nuggets bench, only really Monte Morris interests me as a Drop Score on FanDuel.

For the Spurs, Derrick White is really soaking up the spotlight, and deservedly so as he put on a show last game out and has been playing really well all season long. He’s flown on the radar since getting into the NBA and this is his coming out party. He’s one of my favorite PG plays and he’s still a bit underpriced in my opinion and has really nice upside. DeMar Derozan has just been consistent for the Spurs, as he’s scored over 40 FPs in each of the first three games of this series, and there’s nothing stopping him from doing it again tonight. Poeltl will likely start again, and he saw over 30 minutes last game which really helps his value. Denver has been pretty solid defensively so I’m not really interested in many Spurs other than Bryn Forbes and Patty Mills for value. LaMarcus Aldridge is always a solid play, but I can’t give him 5 stars with the Millsap matchup, but I expect Pop to get him on the floor with Plumlee again as much as he can which will open up some shots for him.

💥💥💥 5 star play – Nikola Jokic, Derrick White, DeMar Derozan

💥💥 4 star play – Jamal Murray, Will Barton, Gary Harris, Paul Millsap, LaMarcus Aldridge

💥 Value – Bryn Forbes, Patty Mills, Monte Morris

Milwaukee Bucks 112.0 at Detroit Pistons 102.9
Vegas – MIL -9
Total – 216

DET Blake Griffin – OUT (as of now keep your eyes peeled)
MIL Tony Snell – OUT

There’s really not much to say about this series as it was pretty much over before it began. We got flashes last game that Blake Griffin might play, he ultimately didn’t but it is something to keep an eye on tonight. If he’s out again I expect another blowout, as Milwaukee is 2-0 and averaging winning by 28 points per game.

For the Pistons you’re really going to want to be looking for value plays here, especially if Blake Griffin is ruled out once again. My favorite play here is going to be Ish Smith once again, as I think he will play the whole 4th quarter blowout or not, as that has been the trend recently because he is more of a true PG whereas Reggie Jackson is more of a scorer. Luke Kennard also sees a nice usage boost if Griffin out, and his minutes are blowout proof as well. Langston Galloway also saw 24 minutes off the bench last game, and if his shot is falling he can be a great Drop Score play as well. Drummond played much better last game out, as the Pistons will need to utilize him in the pick and roll with Brook Lopez not being able to defend it very well. He should have a nice game if he attacks the glass hard again, and I think it actually helps him if Blake plays as it should keep the game more competitive.

For the Bucks, the payup option is going to be Giannis, and once again it really just depends on whether or not you think he plays in the 4th quarter when deciding whether or not to roster him. The Pistons really just can’t compete with the Bucks, especially if Blake is out again. I’m leaning towards him not playing again so I feel that Giannis likely won’t see the 4th quarter once again, but he can still put up plenty of FPs through 3 quarters and he’ll be lower owned than the other stars once again. Here I’m looking for value again, specifically Pat Connaughton as he smashed value last game out. George Hill also saw significant minutes off the bench and is another really solid value play. My last value play here is Sterling Brown as he still saw over 20 minutes last game and contributed in several categories, but I like Patty C more as he really is the spark plug for this Bucks team.

💥💥💥 5 star play – Giannis Antetokounmpo (if you think he plays all 4)

💥💥 4 star play – Luke Kennard, Andre Drummond, Eric Bledsoe, Blake Griffin (if he plays)

💥 Value – Ish Smith, Langston Galloway, Pat Connaughton, George Hill, Sterling Brown

Houston Rockets 106.6 at Utah Jazz 108.8
Vegas – UTA -2.5
Total – 215.5

Here we get the changing of the landscape from Houston to Utah, and while I think that helps Utah a little bit, they really haven’t shown in any way that they can hang with Houston. James Harden has been destroying them, and their star, Donovan Mitchell, hasn’t played well at all this series as the Rockets are making life for him really difficult on offense.

For Houston, James Harden is my favorite pay up option tonight, as we know he can really break the slate and put up 90+ FPs, I don’t think it is as critical as rostering him last time out, but you’ll always be playing with fire if you fade him on small slates. He’ll be in the majority of my lineups once again. Chris Paul gets the best matchup once again against Ricky Rubio, and I think he’ll really take advantage of it tonight. Eric Gordon also can always fill it up if he gets hot, and he is a bit underpriced and will likely be lower owned again tonight. Capela gets a bump for me tonight even with the tough matchup with Gobert, as Houston’s penetration is forcing Gobert to leave him and help fill the lane which leaves for some easy dump offs and they’ll need him to be big on the boards for them tonight as well. For value, I’m really only looking at Kenneth Faried again as a Drop on FanDuel.

For Utah, my favorite play here is Rudy Gobert once again, but I’m going to have difficulty paying up for him, especially on FanDuel. They’re using him to try to keep Harden out of the paint as he is really effective at effecting the Harden floaters from inside 10 feet and they need him to matchup with Capela. Donovan Mitchell won’t be a five star play for me tonight, as the Rockets are really focusing on him on the defensive end, and they’ve been really successful and I expect that success to continue. Ricky Rubio also makes for a decent play, as he had a solid game last time out, but CP3 is still no slouch on D so he’s a 4 star play for me. Derrick Favors is priced right around value tonight, I’d prefer Millsap over him at that position for the savings as they both have similar upside. Ingles has been terrible so far this series, and I expect him to bounce back a little at home, but he won’t find his way onto many of my rosters. For value, I’ll be looking at Jae Crowder and Royce O’Neale as they should see 20+ minutes off the bench.

💥💥💥 5 star play – James Harden, Rudy Gobert, Chris Paul

💥💥 4 star play – Ricky Rubio, Clint Capela, Eric Gordon, Derrick Favors

💥 Value – Kenneth Faried, Jae Crowder, Royce O’Neale
