The NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series heads to Texas Motor Speedway this week. It marks race number 4 of 5 of the Kyle Busch Show for the Trucks this season. Kyle will be the obvious pre race favorite with the biggest question being whether to fade or not. KBM has won 3 of the last 7 races while GMS won the other 4. It will be important to see who can maintain long run speed in practice so pay attention to those trucks with good 10 and 20 lap averages.

Lineup Building

Dominator / Top Tier

You should look to play 1 dominator in most lineups. However, if you are choosing to fade Kyle Busch due to his price you could very well end up with no dominator but two very strong top tier drivers who grab some fast laps and maybe a few laps led. Outside of Kyle Busch the next biggest favorite should be Johnny Sauter. Sauter has won 3 of the last 5 races at Texas and 5 Texas races overall. He has also finished 2nd three times and has an all time average finish of  6.29.

Other Top Plays will be Stewart Friesen who finished 2nd in this race last year and led 25 laps in the two Texas races last year and Brett Moffitt who is driving the GMS truck which has won 3 of the last 5 races here when Sauter was the driver.

Mid to Low Tier

Again when playing Busch you will have to make this area count the most. There has been some solid value in the mid tier but we will have to wait until after qualifying to see who to target. Id expect Tyler Ankrum and Anthony Alfredo to be towards the lower tier and both offer good potential scores. I also am very excited for Jesse Little who finished 7th at Texas last year.

Punts

There has been a high level of DNF’s the last couple years. This has allowed for a couple punts to score around the 30 point range. This could again be the case this week. For example Jennifer Jo Cobb (who I am on record as hating) Has finished worse than 24th only once in the last 9 races she has entered. Sometimes riding around 14 laps down can pay off. Don’t be afraid to take chances in this area to pair with Busch because it could be as simple as stay on track the whole race for these drivers to score well.

If you are new to NASCAR check out this article I wrote explaining lineup creation!

I will be giving my plays and fades in the VIP Slack prior to the race.

I will also answer any questions you may have in the VIP Slack!
