Flynnie’s Forecheck – NHL DFS Advice for Fanduel and Draftkings March 21, 2019

Flynnie’s Forecheck for 3/21/19

We’re back!! After a long off-season of watching the greatest love story since Romeo and Juliet – obviously, I’m talking about Alex Ovechkin’s love affair with the Stanley Cup – it’s time to play some hockey. For those of you that are new to the DFS Army, my name is Rob Flynn. I’m an NHL DFS writer and coach inside the DFS Army. We have the best articles, coaching, and tools in the industry. But let me tell you, the real money is made in the Slack chat that only our  VIP’s have access to. That’s where we talk through a member’s lineup construction, thought process, or just answer any DFS questions they may have. Every coach is very accessible and willing to share our own processes to help every member grow as a player.

I wrote an article describing some of my process and some tips to win. Check it out here. We also have a brand new Research Station that is only available to VIP’s but here is the tutorial, to give you guys a taste of what’s coming this season.  When you sign up to become a member, use promo code PUCK to give yourself 20% off for the life of your membership.

NHL DFS is very similar to DFS MLB. The volatility can be maddening, the floor of every player is ZERO and you need stacking in all contests. In cash games you need at least two players that correlate on either the scoring line or power play, to hopefully grab the goal and an assist. In GPP’s you need to stack the entire line and hope that line goes off for multiple goals.

Take a peek at our latest winner.  DFSA is on fire over NBA All Star Break and would love to help you learn the game of hockey, as well!  Whether you are already a VIP or are just passing by, our coaches can teach the rookie and veteran alike.  Congrats to Handleyrs for a near 300 score and over $850 in winnings!!

Without any further ado let’s dig into today’s 12-game slate.

I am primarily a cash/hybrid player but even that requires some stacking. So, I list my favorite and then I take the pieces from those stacks that fit my lineup construction. Unlike last season, I will put my stacks, D-men, and goalies in order of my preference.

NHL FORWARDS

FLA 1 – Dadonov, Barkov, Huberdeau: This line is the hottest in the league with 12 goals in the last 10 and six in the last three. Arizona has been limiting the damage in terms of goals allowed but they are in the bottom third of the league in shots allowed and HD chances allowed. This could mean they are regressing and Florida’s top line is just the group to exposure this trend in the wrong direction.

TB 2 – Kucherov, Point, Johnson: They have cooled off from the torrid pace they were on and have locked up the President’s Trophy. That could mean fewer shifts for these guys, but CAR is starting to give up some goals lately and every time Kuch and company are on the slate he is in play.

CHI 3 – Perlini, Strome, DeBrincat: I like a lot of BlackHawks in this game tonight, but this is their hottest line with six goals in their last ten games and three of those coming in the last three games. They are also flying off the page in our line stacks section of the Research Station.

Other stacks

WPG 1 – Wheeler, Scheifele, Laine
VGK 1 – Smith, Karlsson, Marchessault
CGY 1 and 2 – They should explode, you need Flames tonight
BOS 1 – Marchand, Bergeron, Heinen
PIT 1 – Guentzel, Crosby, McCann
MTL 1 Tatar, Danault, Gallagher
EDM 1 – Kassian, McJesus, Draisaitl – I like this line more with Bob out for CBJ
SJ 2 – Kane, Hertl, Donskoi
STL 3 – Maroon, Bozak, Thomas
DAL 1 – Radulov, Seguin, Hintz

DFS Studs on DEFENSE

Hedman: He is averaging almost 20 FD points per game over the last 5 and I believe TB puts up a big number tonight against CAR, who have started to slip defensively of late.

Barrie: He is averaging over 21 points over his last 5 but gets a tough draw against DAL, I suggest using him in all or most of your lineups that don’t include Ben Bishop. This is GPP only.

Werenski: He has absolutely been on a roll lately. I’m not crazy about CBJ’s matchup today. It is solid, just not an elite matchup. Werenski makes a great one-off or a part of a CBJ 1 or 2 stack.

Honorable Mentions: Weber (use in all non-Greiss lineups), Vlasic, Yandle, Klingberg, Pietrangelo, Severson (possible NJ one-off)

GOALIES Set to Bring Value

**All stats are over the last three weeks unless otherwise noted**

Bishop: 6-0-0/0.55/0.980 In my opinion, he has far and away the best matchup on the slate. He gets the Avs at home who have not been scoring at all but have been shooting the puck a ton. Bishop has been absolutely on fire as well. He is very expensive, but I believe he is worth it tonight. ALL FORMATS

Fleury: 5-0-0/0.80/0.975 He also has terrific numbers over the last three weeks. He has a great matchup too, but for the opposite reason as Bishop. WPG is scoring lately but their shots on goal and high danger chances are way down. VGK also has been playing great defense aside from their top line. LEAN GPP

Greiss: 5-3-0/2.02/0.931. The rare road underdog! MTL is in a decent spot tonight, the Islanders have not played very well defensively lately but they can be bailed out by their goalie. Greiss will face a ton of shots and if he has a great game he has among the highest ceilings on the slate. He is also the highest projected goalie on out Research Station. GPP

Honorable Mentions: Vasilevskiy, Crawford, Kuemper, Murray/DeSmith, Koskinen

GOAL PREDICTION: Jonathan Huberdeau

Remember guys, always confirm the starters after Morning Skate.
