Flynnie’s Forecheck – NHL DFS Advice for Fanduel and Draftkings March 11, 2019

Flynnie’s Forecheck for 3/11/19

We’re back!! After a long off-season of watching the greatest love story since Romeo and Juliet – obviously, I’m talking about Alex Ovechkin’s love affair with the Stanley Cup – it’s time to play some hockey. For those of you that are new to the DFS Army, my name is Rob Flynn. I’m an NHL DFS writer and coach inside the DFS Army. We have the best articles, coaching, and tools in the industry. But let me tell you, the real money is made in the Slack chat that only our  VIP’s have access to. That’s where we talk through a member’s lineup construction, thought process, or just answer any DFS questions they may have. Every coach is very accessible and willing to share our own processes to help every member grow as a player.

I wrote an article describing some of my process and some tips to win. Check it out here. We also have a brand new Research Station that is only available to VIP’s but here is the tutorial, to give you guys a taste of what’s coming this season.  When you sign up to become a member, use promo code PUCK to give yourself 20% off for the life of your membership.

NHL DFS is very similar to DFS MLB. The volatility can be maddening, the floor of every player is ZERO and you need stacking in all contests. In cash games you need at least two players that correlate on either the scoring line or power play, to hopefully grab the goal and an assist. In GPP’s you need to stack the entire line and hope that line goes off for multiple goals.

Take a peek at our latest winner.  DFSA is on fire over NBA All Star Break and would love to help you learn the game of hockey, as well!  Whether you are already a VIP or are just passing by, our coaches can teach the rookie and veteran alike.  Congrats to Handleyrs for a near 300 score and over $850 in winnings!!

Without any further ado let’s dig into today’s 7-game slate.

I am primarily a cash/hybrid player but even that requires some stacking. So, I list my favorite and then I take the pieces from those stacks that fit my lineup construction. Unlike last season, I will put my stacks, D-men, and goalies in order of my preference.

NHL FORWARDS

ARI PP1 – Dvorak, Keller, Hinostroza: CHI is a mess defensively and this line overlaps several lines and they are WAY too cheap. Arizona has really spread their scoring out, so not only does this spread out your exposure but it’s also a great PP match up. If you want the 5 on 5 stack, drop Hino and go with Panik. ARI 2 is by far their best line tonight.

TOR 1 – Hyman, Tavares, Marner: Tampa Bay has been very good, but this line has 10 goals in the last 10 games and four in the last three games.

EDM PP1 – Draisaitl, McDavid, Nugent-Hopkins: I’m on a PP unit kick right now because so few of the 5-on-5 stacks really appeal to me tonight. Draisaitl is on the second line now but his game logs are among the most consistent in the league and the Rangers bleed shots and high danger chances so might as well stack him with RNH and McJesus to get pieces of all the scoring. Nurse makes a great 4th man in this stack as well.

Other stacks

PHI 1 – Giroux, Couturier, Lindblom – Great matchup
OTT 1 – Tkachuk, Pageau, DuClair – Tkachuk is close to a cash lock for me bc of numbers and price (Especially if Hart starts)
COL 1 – Brassard, MacKinnon, Compher – mostly a Nate one-off (Rantanen on COL 2 now), PP1 makes a fine stack too Nate/Rant/Barrie
SJ 1 – Meier, Couture, Pavelski
CAR 2 – Teravainen, Staal, Ferland
CBJ 1 – Panarin, DuBois, Atkinson
NYR 1 – Kreider, Zibanejad, Vesey

Maybe prop bets are your thing, too?  We are quickly expanding coverage into the different realms of sportsbetting!

DFS Studs on DEFENSE

Ekman-Larsson: I’m all over the Yotes wagon tonight. One reason is they are in a good spot and the second reason is I don’t overly like this slate so I’m going to take a stand and hope the Yotes wagon doesn’t run me over.

Leddy: This is a gut call more than anything. I think NYI can score a decent amount tonight, but they have such inconsistent scoring spread across all 4 lines. Leddy has 4 points and 17 BSSOG over his last 5 games. He is the most consistent Islander lately, so that’s where I’m going to get my NYI exposure, everything else would just be a stack and pray.

Klefbom: It took him a few games to shake off the rust, but he’s back to being a stud. Unfortunately, his price caught up too. He is still a great play in a stack and as a one-off.

Honorable Mentions: Chychrun, Spurgeon, Burns, Werenski, Pesce, Demelo, Nurse

GOALIES Set to Bring Value

**All stats are over the last three weeks unless otherwise noted**

Kuemper: 7-1-0/1.72/0.945 It’s always a risk using a goalie against CHI because they are one of the highest scoring teams in the league. However, ARI has been locked down on defense and CHI is a sieve defensively, so I think the win is relatively safe here. Chicago messed with all their line combos, I like this play a lot more now after seeing that. HYBRID

Koskinen: 6-1-2/2.22/0.934 I like EDM a decent amount tonight and Koskinen will probably be the lowest owned viable goalie tonight, so he is definitely worth a shot in GPPs.

Flyers goalie: I’m hearing grumblings that Hart could be back tonight, but if not I’m perfectly fine using Elliot in all formats. Targeting OTT has been profitable lately. OTT has been shooting a lot and PHI is giving up a ton of shots over their last ten, so there is potentially a huge ceiling here. GPP

Honorable Mentions: Bobrovsky, Vasilevskiy, Varlamov, Jones

GOAL PREDICTION: Oliver Ekman-Larsson
