DFS College Basketball March Madness Notes For Draftkings and Fanduel 3/30/2019

Good morning/afternoon to you beautiful people out there in DFS land!  You have managed to find yourself in a great spot here at DFS Army.  I look forward to providing you with analysis and picks throughout this 2019 Tournament Season!  Remember, if I mention a player as a cash game play they most likely are OK for GPP play.  Let’s take a look at what games are on the slate for DraftKings.  The KenPom score projections are in parenthesis.

Texas Tech (69) vs Gonzaga (72)
Purdue (63) vs Virginia (67)

College basketball hasn’t been back that long, and we have the coaches teaching!  Save yourself time and energy by letting us do the work.  And, if you want to see a real track record of success, stop by our Wall of Wins page to see what we’ve done in NFL, NBA, and MLB recently.  We aren’t one-trick-ponies at DFS Army, and we are dedicated to sharing our knowledge with you to help you improve your game.

TEXAS TECH vs GONZAGA

I think this is a spot that we jump back onto the Culver train.   The biggest decision for me is deciding between Mooney and Moretti in this spot.  Initially, I was going to lean Moretti but the more I look at the numbers the more I think that Mooney is in the better spot.  I won’t blame you for grabbing Moretti to save the $ though.  Owens is more of a GPP play because of the possibility of foul trouble with him going up against Hachimura and Clarke.  Owens’ shot-blocking upside takes a hit against the team that has the lowest % of their shots blocked in the country.  If you want to find a deep GPP differentiator, you could look at Francis or Corprew as a low-owned dart option.

With Gonzaga getting the negative paced match-up, I worry about getting too much exposure.  The problem is that they have the highest projected team total.  Going through some box scores from the season, I have noticed that the best way to beat TT is by solid point guard play and with athletic bigs.  Gonzaga definitely has athletic bigs in Hachimura and Clarke, while they also have solid PG play with Perkins.  I do not have much for interest in Norvell but am definitely considering Kispert for cash purposes and Tillie for GPPs.

Preferred Plays:  Culver, Mooney, Moretti, Clarke, Hachimura, Perkins

PURDUE vs VIRGINIA

We know that bigs are a real thing against them and that their opponents are going to put up a lot of 3’s.  Over 41% of the shot attempts against UVA come from 3, while over 45% of Purdue’s offensive shots come from 3.  Problem is that UVA holds teams to just 28% from 3.  I can’t quite trust Edwards in cash but he is really close and he makes an excellent GPP option.  Cline went off last game and now sees a price jump ahead of a really tough match-up.  I won’t have many shares but I will make sure to get at least 1 in a GPP.  Haarms is the guy that I will add to my cash lineups as he should offer us a solid double-double type floor.  Guys like Eastern, Eifert, T.Williams, Wheeler, and Hunter are all GPP dart options in a tough spot.

Virginia is the side we should target in this spot.  Diakite is going to be EXTREMELY popular at his price point.  Clark is another value play that is going to have high ownership as he has been playing excellently.  I believe that each of Jerome, Hunter, and Guy are in play with my preference for cashing being Jerome and Hunter.  Purdue gives up a ton of 3-point attempts which plays into the hands.  Virginia is actually 7th in the country at shooting the 3, making nearly 40% of their attempts.  I secretly think that this could be a Salt game as he will be needed vs Haarms.

Preferred Plays:  Haarms, Diakite, Clark, Jerome
