DFS College Basketball March Madness Notes For Draftkings and Fanduel 3/29/2019

Good morning/afternoon to you beautiful people out there in DFS land!  You have managed to find yourself in a great spot here at DFS Army.  I look forward to providing you with analysis and picks throughout this 2019 Tournament Season!  Remember, if I mention a player as a cash game play they most likely are OK for GPP play.  Let’s take a look at what games are on the slate for DraftKings.  The KenPom score projections are in parenthesis.

LSU (72) vs Michigan St (80)
Auburn (78) vs UNC (82)
Virginia Tech (70) vs Duke (75)
Houston (66) vs Kentucky (68)

College basketball hasn’t been back that long, and we have the coaches teaching!  Save yourself time and energy by letting us do the work.  And, if you want to see a real track record of success, stop by our Wall of Wins page to see what we’ve done in NFL, NBA, and MLB recently.  We aren’t one-trick-ponies at DFS Army, and we are dedicated to sharing our knowledge with you to help you improve your game.

LSU vs MICHIGAN ST

LSU is a team we have been targeting for weeks now but I have reservations in this spot.  Their fast-paced offense is going to face a team that LOVES to slow you down on that end of the floor.  I wish that LSU had more outside shooting to go along with Reid and Bigby-Williams down low.  I want exposure to one of those two big men, as Reid is more talented but Bigby-Williams has the slightly better personal match-up.  Waters is a GPP play but one that I most likely will be fading.  Smart is another guy that has GPP upside and Mays is somebody that I have more interest in than the other guards for LSU.

For DFS purposes, Michigan St basically runs a 6 man rotation at this point so we know where the minutes are going to come from.  Winston is priced excellently for us, especially for cash purposes.  Basically safe for getting us 32+ fantasy points.  Of all the bigs for MSU, I want exposure to Tillman more than the others.  I think his price is solid for all formats.  McQuaid and Henry are too cheap for a match-up with such a pace jump.  I lean Henry over McQuaid but I may end up with both in my main lineup tonight.

Preferred Plays:  Reid, Mays, Winston, Henry

AUBURN vs UNC

This game is going to be the one to target for fantasy purposes.  The nice thing about Auburn is the fact that we know where a large portion of their scoring is going to come from.  Harper hasn’t been stellar in the tournament but I think this could be a spot where he bounces back for our GPP lineups.  My two favorite plays for all formats are Brown and Okeke.  Both of those players fit the spots that can attack UNC’s biggest weaknesses.  I think we can use guys like McLemore and Doughty as GPP dart plays at their price points.

UNC is going to dominate the glass in this match-up and that automatically puts me on Maye.  He has been a rebounding machine and I think that continues.  Both Johnson and White have seen a price drop and it amazes me.  That puts both guys very much in play, especially if Williams and Little are limited.  If Little is said to be good to go, I really like him and if he is said to be out I will consider using some Robinson and even Black as a deep dart play for GPPs.  Brooks is somebody I have interest in but worry about his minutes being squeezed.

Preferred Plays:  Brown, Okeke, Maye, White, Johnson

VIRGINIA TECH vs DUKE

This going to be a tough spot to figure out as I think Duke plays inspired after their near loss to UCF.  The only guys I have interest in for VT are the expensive ones and they are guys that I would prefer to go with UNC game guys over.  Alexander-Walker and Blackshear Jr are my two preferred plays but they don’t have the same price drops that the UNC guys received.  I do believe one of them will be cash viable for us and lean Blackshear at this point.  Robinson and Outlaw interest me for GPPs but they are FAR from safe.

I think the biggest question on the night is whether we need to lock in Zion or not.  The argument for not is the fact that a balanced lineup approach gets you a lot of UNC-Auburn exposure.  Zion has dominated against zone defenses (see Syracuse) and this could be a big-time spot for him.  The only question is whether Barrett and Reddish allow Zion to take over.  I actually want very little exposure to Barrett but I do have interest in Reddish at his price point now that he has dropped below Tre JonesDeLaurier can be used as a GPP dart play and could be a differentiator off of the MSU value.

Preferred Plays:  Blackshear Jr, Z.Williamson, Reddish

HOUSTON vs KENTUCKY

Kentucky gives up a decent amount of 3-point attempts and that can play into the hands of Houston as they can get red-hot from 3.  Davis Jr is the guy that stands out the most as he is not afraid to fire 15+ 3-point attempts.  I think a guy like Jarreau or Hinton could be sneaky plays at their price points but their usage is so up and down.  Brooks has GPP upside but his floor has been pretty low of late.  I have a ton of interest in White Jr as a value play.  He has been playing extremely well and if Washington is said to be limited for UK, I would like White even more.

We need to learn the status of PJ Washington before we can make any final decisions.  If he continues to be out we have to look hard at Travis as a cash play and guys like Montgomery and Richards as GPP options.  If Washington does play, I would look at Travis as more of a GPP play with the other two guys being off my radar most likely.  Washington would probably have some sort of a minutes limit.  I like Herro, K.Johnson, and Hagans in this game but have a hard time trusting any of them.  Hagans’ price has come down too far on DK so he makes a ton of sense as a cash option.

Preferred Plays:  Davis Jr, White Jr, Travis, Hagans
