DFS College Basketball Game Notes For Draftkings and Fanduel Main Slate 3/16/2019

Good morning to you beautiful people out there in DFS land!  You have managed to find yourself in a great spot here at DFS Army.  I look forward to providing you with analysis and picks throughout this 2018-2019 CBB season!  Remember, if I mention a player as a cash game play they most likely are OK for GPP play.  Let’s take a look at what games are on the slate for DraftKings and Fanduel.  The KenPom score projections are in parenthesis.

Iowa St (74) vs Kansas (75)
Seton Hall (68) vs Villanova (72)
Western Kentucky (65) vs Old Dominion (64) – DK Only
Florida St (71) vs Duke (77)
Oregon (61) vs Washington (62) – FD Only

College basketball hasn’t been back that long, and we have the coaches teaching!  Save yourself time and energy by letting us do the work.  And, if you want to see a real track record of success, stop by our Wall of Wins page to see what we’ve done in NFL, NBA, and MLB recently.  We aren’t one-trick-ponies at DFS Army, and we are dedicated to sharing our knowledge with you to help you improve your game.

IOWA ST vs KANSAS

For Iowa St, we have a handful of guards to choose from.  Kansas gives up a large amount of 3-point shot attempts so we should definitely look at the guys that put up a lot of shots.  My preference would be Shayok or Wigginton with Weiler-Babb slightly behind them.  Horton-Tucker and Haliburton are GPP dart type plays as they both have upside but have been missing value way too frequently.  I do have a funny feeling that Jacobson has a sneaky good game in this spot.

Kansas has a chance to salvage a rough season (by their standards) and walk away with a conference title.  I expect D.Lawson to be focused and motivated here and we have to like his DK price as he had been over $10K for parts of the season.  Dotson seems to be picking it up at the right time so we need to strongly consider him.  Grimes may finally be reaching his potential and he is priced pretty attractively on DK.  Pretty sure that McCormack is close to an auto plug-in, the only thing I worry about is the game going smaller and his minutes being squeezed a bit.

Preferred Plays:  Wigginton, Shayok, D.Lawson, Dotson, Grimes

SETON HALL vs VILLANOVA

Myles Powell goes for 38 fantasy points and his price drops again.  I am not sure I understand it but I won’t complain.  Mamukelashvili had a really solid game going when he was tossed yesterday so I expect him to be motivated.  Cale and McKnight are in play but they aren’t guys I am prioritizing on this slate.

We always have to consider using Booth or Paschall and while I think I prefer Booth, Paschall is certainly a solid play.  Samuels finally got a price increase but he is still too cheap for how well he is playing.  He is going to be EXTREMELY popular.  Bey and Gillespie are definitely GPP options with Bey being my preferred of the two.

Preferred Plays:  Powell, Mamukelashvili, Booth, Samuels

WESTERN KENTUCKY vs OLD DOMINION – DK Only

WKU is one of my favorite teams to use for DFS purposes.  They are loaded with a bunch of cash safe guys who also have the random upside to win you a GPP.  Bassey is my favorite player for them as he basically averages 4x on his current price point.  Hollingsworth, Anderson, and Bearden are all pretty safe for cash games at their price points.  Savage is not really cash game safe but he has big-time upside if he gets hot from 3.

Caver and Stith combine to take over 56% of the shots for ODU so we need to look their way.  I very much prefer Caver to Stith but Stith has GPP upside and should be lower owned.  The rest of the team is kind of a crapshoot.  Green is playing really well right now and is priced below $5K so I will have a ton of interest in him.  The only other guy that I am considering is Ezikpe as his minutes are increasing.  He is far from safe so he falls into the GPP category.

Preferred Plays:  Bassey, Anderson, Caver, Green

FLORIDA ST vs DUKE

I am struggling to see how FSU scores in the 70s in this game.  They do not have a ton of efficient scorers to rely on.  Kabengele had a monster game in their first match-up and could pose a match-up risk against DeLaurier.  Mann is priced cheap enough that he could be considered as a GPP dart throw but that is about it to me.  I am sure somebody could randomly step up but I don’t see a way where Cofer or Koumadje manages to stay on the court (foul trouble).

I feel like Duke puts up 80+ in this spot, even against an FSU team that has a pretty solid defense.  Duke has way too many match-up issues.  Williamson is going to be popular, even at his price point and should cause a TON of problems for FSU.  Barrett will be pretty low owned on DK due to being just $200 cheaper than Zion and there not being too much for value.  I don’t think I can use Reddish, even though FSU is bad at defending the three.  Tre Jones is one that I like because of his defensive ability and should this stay close to the finish, his FT shooting.  DeLaurier is a GPP option for me as I worry about possible foul issues.

Preferred Plays:  Williamson, T.Jones

OREGON vs WASHINGTON – FD Only

I really want to suggest skipping this game but there might be a couple of one-off plays that we can consider.  I think we can use Pritchard, Paul White, King or Okoro as GPP plays for Oregon.  Wooten could be used but I worry about a possible knee issue.  Pritchard is definitely my preferred play with Okoro intriguing me the most.

For the most part, I am interested in just Nowell and Dickerson for Washington.  Dickerson had a monster performance against them earlier this season and offers excellent upside.  Thybulle is always in play due to his defensive numbers but I feel like I want to look elsewhere, especially around his price point.

Preferred Plays:  Pritchard, Dickerson
