DFS College Basketball Game Notes For Draftkings and Fanduel 3/8/2019

Good morning to you beautiful people out there in DFS land!  You have managed to find yourself in a great spot here at DFS Army.  I look forward to providing you with analysis and picks throughout this 2018-2019 CBB season!  Remember, if I mention a player as a cash game play they most likely are OK for GPP play.  Let’s take a look at what games are on the slate for DraftKings.  The KenPom score projections are in parenthesis.

Bowling Green (72) vs Buffalo (87)
Minnesota (65) vs Maryland (72)
Miami (62) vs Virginia Tech (74)

College basketball hasn’t been back that long, and we have the coaches teaching!  Save yourself time and energy by letting us do the work.  And, if you want to see a real track record of success, stop by our Wall of Wins page to see what we’ve done in NFL, NBA, and MLB recently.  We aren’t one-trick-ponies at DFS Army, and we are dedicated to sharing our knowledge with you to help you improve your game.

BOWLING GREEN vs BUFFALO

BGSU beat Buffalo in the first match-up this season thanks to impressive performances by Turner, Frye, and especially by Wiggins.  The way to attack Buffalo is via the 2 and getting to the FT line.  Wiggins is going to be the one that is needed to pull off a second upset.  Turner has a ton of usage and makes sense while Frye really relies on shooting from the perimeter.  Lillard, Laster, and Plowden all make sense for GPP purposes and could be used as the last guy into your cash lineups if the rest of your lineup fits perfectly.

I do not expect Buffalo to take this match-up lightly and with easily the highest projected team total, there are a ton of options to use.  BGSU is going to let them take a ton of threes so I want shooters.  The problem is which one as Buffalo is full of guys that can shoot the basketball or are at the very least willing to shoot it.  Either Harris or Massinburg has a shot at being the highest scoring player on the slate.  I would try to play the senior night narrative, however, both of those guys plus Perkins, Caruthers, and McRae are all seniors.  I prefer Graves over Jordan while I always fall for Caruthers, even with his insane foul rate.  Perkins fouled out in the first match-up and the spot worries me enough that I think he is a GPP only play for me.

Preferred Plays:  Wiggins, Plowden, Massinburg, Graves

MINNESOTA vs MARYLAND

Minnesota is coming off of an impressive win over Purdue.  I think they come into this one motivated and because of that, I am very high on Coffey to keep up his hot play.  By now you know that Jordan Murphy is a different player on the road and he’s just somebody I can’t pay up for when he is away from home.  I would look at Oturu to attack the interior of Maryland and then McBrayer as a safer option with the way he has been playing.  You probably have to consider Stockman as a GPP punt but do not expect to see him pick up 7 blocks again in this one.

For Maryland, I am looking at Cowan Jr, Fernando, and J.Smith as my options tonight.  Wiggins, Ayala or Morsell could be included but I am not in a hurry to plug them in.  I worry about possible foul issues for Fernando enough that I would prefer Cowan for cash over him.  I really like Smith as a GPP play in this spot with all the attention on Fernando.

Preferred Plays:  Coffey, Oturu, Cowan Jr, J.Smith

MIAMI vs VIRGINIA TECH

Miami just isn’t a very good team right now which is frustrating because they do have talent.  Lawrence is playing really while so he is at the top of my list of players to get exposure to tonight.  Lykes was solid in their first match-up and that was when VT had J.Robinson.  I do not like the match-up for Izundu even though he is coming off of a couple of really nice games.  My second favorite option from Miami might be Waardenburg tonight as he offers somewhat of a perimeter mismatch for Blackshear.  The problem is he isn’t going to be able to defend him in the paint.  Johnson and Vasiljevic are just GPP darts with upside but they just do not excite me tonight.

As most of you know by now, Va Tech is one of my favorite teams to target.  They are running a really tight rotation without J.Robinson and Blackshear has stepped his game up to another level.  Alexander-Walker has immense upside and could create a mismatch at times if Lawrence isn’t tasked with guarding him.  Hill might be my second favorite option on senior night.  Another one playing on senior night is Outlaw who has shown upside randomly.  Bede is another value play that will play a bunch of minutes tonight.

Preferred Plays:  Lawrence, Waardenburg, Blackshear, Hill
