NBA DFS “Inside the Paint” Daily Lineup Picks and Strategy for Draftkings or Fanduel – January 9th

Hello Everyone! It is your favorite Loosmeister. If you guys don’t know me – I am a diehard when it comes to Sports and DFS. I have the luxury of not only watching every game but also using Data as well to break things down to construct proper lineups. My articles will feature a CORE for your NBA lineups.  These are guys I consider Cash Safe.  I will also dive into some GPP pivots that I believe will be lesser owned and can leverage you against the field. Draftkings has incorporated a late swap now for NBA.  Fanduel is removing the lowest score in your lineups so there is some strategy there to take more risks with punts and sleepers. Pricing will be listed as Fanduel first then Draftkings after.  I will also be giving away 1 or 2 Daily NBA picks extracted from our NBA Model that I also use to help me build lineups.  You can find our Sports Betting Models at Beat The Bookie.

CASH/CORE

Editor’s Note: These plays are for cash games and small field tournaments.

PG – D’anthony Melton (4200/4300) – Booker is out boosting Melton into your cash lineups.  Don’t overthink this one.  He’s cheap and will get 30+ minutes.

SG – James Harden (12600/12200) – Harden will be the heaviest owned stud on the slate and rightfully so.  He has been absolutely balling.  The matchup isn’t the best so there is merit to fading him in GPPs but do not get cute in CASH.  Bucks are weak against Shooting Guards…Harden is a defacto Point Guard so don’t get confused there.  However, if he gets to the line like he has been – he will hit 60+.  Just load him up in Cash.

SF – Kelly Oubre (3700/3800) – Again, Booker is out and we just saw what Oubre is capable of.  He dropped 48 yesterday and should see 25+ minutes.  His price is way too low to be ignored.

PF – Blake Griffin (9200/9000) – Welcome Home Blake!  His first time back in Staples Center…but against the Lakers.  This is a dream matchup for Blake and the offense basically runs through him.  No one on the Lakers can Guard Blake – He will be able to score points with ease if he stays aggressive.

C – Joel Embiid (10800 on both) – Washington with Thomas Bryant has been bleeding points to Centers.  Embiid was chalky yesterday and got a price discount.  He was 30 percent in most of my GPPs.  Look for him to be around the same ownership and most likely be the second highest owned stud.  The numbers this year for Embiid against Washington do not look good because the Sixers keep blowing them out.  If this game stays close, which vegas thinks it will, Embiid will eat.

GPP/PIVOTS

Editor’s Note: These plays are for Large Field Tournaments

PG – J.J. Barea (4400/4300) – The Mavericks face off against the Booker-Less Suns tonight and the Suns are on a b2b.  Doncic and DSJ are both questionable and even if they do play I see Barea receiving extra run at hardly no ownership.  If they happen to get ruled out pre-lock – Expect JJ’s ownership to jump up.  I do see one or both DSJ/Doncic as a rest game tonight which bumps up Barea big time.  Last time these teams met, Barea did put up 29 which isn’t terrible for his price.

SG – Viktor Oladipo (8300 on both) – I’ve been screaming DIPO all day.  He’s someone who consistently under-performs so his numbers do not look great, however, he comes to play against Boston.  It’s one of those intangibles I like to identify.  Since his projections will be lower – his ownership will be less as well.  The Pacers tried desperately to rest Dipo in the 4th quarter last night but the damn Cavs came back and he had to come back in to close the game out.  I am playing Dipo EVERYWHERE.

SF – Giannis Antetokounmpo (11800/11100) – Giannis will most likely be the lowest owned stud.  Harden – Embiid – AD – Giannis in that order.  He hasn’t had great games against Houston but they rarely play one another.  This year – The Rockets do not have ANYONE to guard him besides PJ Fucker.  I mean, Tucker.  Last year they had Luc Mbah A Moute and Trevor Ariza – 2 really good defenders.  My only worry is if Giannis loses minutes to foul trouble.  If he stays clean – he will eat.

PF – P.J. Tucker (4900/4300) – The bucks suffer against players who launch corner 3s.  Well, that is PJ Tucker’s offensive game.  He will be matching Giannis minutes and see close to 40 tonight.  Also, it’s his damn bobblehead night!  How can you not love it!

C – Tristan Thompson (6200/6000) – Tristan Thompson is on a back to back and that worried me at first until I checked his back to back history this year…His last 4 games on the end of a back to back.  34.2/59.3/48.3/54.  Ok, SOLD!  He’s underpriced still and if he stays out of foul trouble and gets full minutes if the game stays close…he will hit 40 no problem.

Need extra value?  Here are some more – 1 per position.

PG – Jeremy Lin / SG – Alec Burks / SF – Davis Bertans / PF – Josh Jackson / C – Ian Mahinmi (Not a lot of value at center…extreme GPP play aka PUNT)
