Welcome to the DFS Army NBA 1st look article. In this article, I’ll try to give you a quick glance at the NBA slate each morning. I’ll go over some of the Vegas info and some of the Injury situations we’re monitoring throughout the league.

💥 Who’s Out? Who’s Questionable? What it means…
BOS Kyrie Irving OUT – Marcus Morris – Q
Terry Rozier will start at the Point for the Celtics with Irving out. He has started 3 games this year and has averaged 36 fantasy points per game. He will be very high owned in your cash games tonight. With Morris out we should see some extra run and usage for Gordon Hayward and Jaylen Brown.
LAL LeBron James OUT – Kyle Kuzma – Questionable
This will be the 5th game in a row without LeBron for the Lakers. Kuzma injured his back last game. Caldwell Pope entered the game for him and started the 2nd half for him last game. The Knicks rank 29th in the NBA in Defensive Efficiency so this is a juicy matchup for the Lakers. With LeBron out and possibly Kuzma, we should see increased minutes for Josh Hart, Caldwell Pope, Lonzo Ball, and Brandon Ingram.
MIN Robert Covington OUT – Derrick Rose Doubtful – Jeff Teague Q
Tyus Jones has been starting at point guard when Teague and Rose site out recently. He is no longer a “lock and load” value play because he’s been playing well with his increased opportunities. Over his last 5 games, he has averaged 32 minutes and 31.9 fantasy points per game. Josh Okogie started last game for Covington but got into foul trouble early and only played 24 minutes. Dario Saric played 22 minutes last game with Covington out but he only scored 15 fantasy points. We’ve all seen what he can do when given an opportunity (in Philly) but we haven’t seen much out of him yet in Minnesota.
CLE Matthew Dellavedova – Q – Ante Zizic and David Nwaba OUT
Tristan Thompson and Rodney Hood returned to the starting lineup last game for the Cavs but it didn’t help as they were blown out by 25. If Dellavedova misses the game we could see an uptick in minutes from some of the cheap Cavs guards Sexton, Burks, Clarkson. The matchup is not ideal vs the Jazz so they are all GPP only for me.
NYK Mitchell Robinson “upgraded” to Questionable
He has missed 8 games in a row and because of that, we’ve seen Luke Kornet enter the starting lineup. In his last 3 games, Kornet has averaged 18 points and 5 rebounds per game. I don’t think he’ll lose his spot when Mitchell returns but I’m not 100% sure. For now Kornet will remain a solid value option while he has the starting job.
MIA Dwyane Wade – Q – Goran Dragic still OUT
Justise Winslow has taken over the starting point guard spot for the Heat. With Dion Waiters back in the mix (only played 10 minutes last game) we’ll have to see how the rotation shakes out here in Miami. Josh Richardson would get a boost if Wade misses the game and Tyler Johnson would be a decent GPP value play.
MEM Mike Conley – Questionable
If Conley were to miss the game Shelvin Mack would likely replace him in the starting lineups. Fire up your “Return of the Mack” GIFS on Social Media, although, the GIFS excite me more than his DFS prowess. The matchup vs the Nets makes him a decent option but he doesn’t have a ton of upside.
UTA Ricky Rubio – Questionable
He missed the Jazz’ last game on Saturday and Dante Exum filled in as the starter. He played 26 minutes and scored 33.5 DK points in that game. If Rubio misses the game on Friday vs the Cavs Exum would be cash game lock on all sites. The Cavs rank dead last in the NBA in Defensive Efficiency vs point guards. They allow 12% more fantasy points to the position than the league average. This would be a smash spot for Exum on Friday night.
WAS Markief Morris OUT – 6 weeks
With Morris out of the lineup for awhile, we’re going to get a heavy dose of Jeff Green (hold me) and Thomas Bryant. We know Otto Porter is getting closer and closer to 100% so Green’s time in the starting lineup may be coming to an end soon. With Morris out, we’ll see minutes and usage increases for Ariza, Green and Bryant for a while.
