DFS NBA Lineup Strategies – Blande’s 6th Man – Draftkings and Fanduel Advice Jan 9th

Hi there! I’m Glen but I go by Blande and you can find me on twitter as @DfsBlande . I’m a contributor and coach over here at the DFS Army.

We have a massive 10-game slate on our hands tonight. There are quite a few studs in excellent positions here as well we will want to roster. To fit them, we will need some good value. Enter the 6th Men. As it turns out, we don’t have a lot of high priced 6th Men on this slate, making the hunt for value truly be a focus on the mid-to-low tier range.

Before we dive in, It is Q Season and we already have two staff members in the Live Q, what are you waiting for?

And here is the second one! Join us now and get access to the tools and coaches that can get you there!

CORE PLAYS

PG – Shabazz Napier (4700/4000): Napier is playing very well at the moment and getting minutes. He is averaging 24.6 DKPs in 26.5 MPG over his last 4 games. While he won’t be starting like he did last game, he’s still in line to see around 25 minutes off the bench. At his price on both sites and given the matchup against the Hawks, this is enough for him to pay off value. He is a core value play tonight on both sites.

SG – Jordan Clarkson (5000/5200): Clarkson is back in his good scoring form at the moment, having translated 23 and 26 real points efforts into 37 and 35 DKPs respectively in his last 2 games. He’ll be needed here by the Cavs to keep this game competitive, and even in the event of a blowout, he’ll still be out there in garbage time. He’s a core play at that price on both sites.

PF – Bobby Portis (5500/4700): Portis returned from injury and promptly put up 24.25 DKPs in just 20 minutes. He was on a minute restriction in that game. Assuming the restriction gets bumped a little today, he could see around 25 minutes, enough for him to exceed value on DK. The matchup is good, making him a nice play on DK here today. Portis is rightly priced at value on FD.

GPP PLAYS

SF – Sam Dekker (3700/3200): If Otto Porter misses this game, Sam Dekker could be in line for some minutes here, especially if the game gets out of hand. Last night, Dekker but up 29.6 FDPs in 22 minutes. The same is possible tonight. There’s some level of inconsistency here to be considered, limiting Dekker to just a GPP play. That said, he makes for a nice punt on both FD and DK tonight.

SF – Kelly Oubre Jr. (3700/3800): With Booker questionable, Oubre Jr. is too cheap on both sites. After last night, he’ll be extremely chalky tonight. That said, it’s had to pass up on this kind of price on FD where he can be your designated drop-score candidate. I can see fading him on DK in the hopes he lays a dud, but he is a near core play on FD.

PF – Richaun Holmes (3800/3400): If Booker is out, Josh Jackson will start, opening minutes for Richaun Holmes off the bench in the backup role here at PF and C. As we have seen time and again, Holmes doesn’t need many minutes to crush value. The last time he faced the Mavs, he scored 29.6 FDPs in 22 minutes. He could get around the same amount of time. He’s a potential drop-score candidate on FD and is in play on DK in GPPs.

SF – Jae Crowder (4700/4600): Crowder is a very inconsistent player, relegating him to GPP territory. He gets a favorable matchup here against the Magic, and he’ll see minutes in the mid-20s. Crowder has the upside to go for 35+ in this spot, although he rarely shows it. If you are MMEing, Crowder is someone to have in a handful of lineups. If he does go off, he could potentially be in the winning lu at this price.

Those are your Sixth men for today. Good luck out there today!
