DFS NBA Lineup Strategies – Blande’s 6th Man – Draftkings and Fanduel Advice Jan 31st

Hi there! I’m Glen but I go by Blande and you can find me on twitter as @DfsBlande. I’m a contributor and coach over here at the DFS Army.

We get a medium-sized 6-game slate tonight. The slate is filled with a ton of studs, however, there is a lack of ready value plays tonight. As a result, there is an edge in bargain hunting here. It’s on nights like this that 6th Men become extremely valuable. Without much ado, let’s take a look at some of the best available tonight.

CORE PLAYS

PG – Shabazz Napier (5700/5300): As long as Dinwiddie remains out, Shabazz Napier is going to be a core staple of this article. He’s locked into 25-30 mins off the bench for the Nets here. Napier is on fire in the who’s hot section of the RS as can be seen in the graphic below. The matchup is also a good one as the Spurs allow 2% more FPs to PGs than the league average.

SG – Lou Williams (7300/7200): I don’t need to sell Sweet Lou to you. The guy is on fire right now, as reflected in the RS who’s hot section. Every single item for Lou is green. He has a tremendous ceiling and floor here tonight. The Lakers are giving 9% more FPs to SGs than the league average. He is an all-format core play tonight.

SF – Dorian Finney-Smith (4600/3800): Finney-Smith’s graphic does not stand out in any way right now. However, Luka Doncic is doubtful for tonight. If Doncic is out, Finney-Smith will see a minute boost here. He’ll be in line for 30 minutes. Over is last 5 games, he is averaging 22.4 DKPs in 24.5 MPG. Factor in the increased minutes and the good matchup and 30 FPs is not out of the picture. His price is also great on both sites tonight.

C – Ivica Zubac (5200/5100): Zubac started last game and struggled mightily against Embiid. He is young and can be forgiven for that. Whether he starts or not tonight, the matchup is a fantastic one, as the Clippers allow 5.6% more FPs to Centers than the league average. 20 minutes is more than enough for Zubac to hit value tonight. He could easily see more than that if he gets going, making him a prime candidate to crush value.

GPP PLAYS

PG – Jalen Brunson (3700/3400): I’m not a huge Brunson fan, but he is slated to see some increased minutes tonight if Doncic is out. Even so, his ceiling isn’t the best out there and his floor is extremely low. That said, he is cheap enough to be a drop score candidate on FD if you desperately need some salary relief at that position. FD GPP drop score only play.

SG – Terrence Ross (5200/4900): Take a look at the Terrence Ross graphic and all you see is green! Ross has been on fire recently, averaging 28 DKPs in 29.5 MPG over his last 5. The minutes and production make Ross an elite GPP play off the bench. He is close to a core play here, but as the graphics show is floor is a little bit low. Love him in GPPs on both sites.

SF – Corey Brewer (3800/3600): Brewer has had a good start to life with the 76ers. With everyone basically healthy, his minutes will likely be capped around 20. That said, Brewer has had some really good games against the Warriors, going for 33.7 FDPs in 25 minutes in his last game against them. He is a strictly FD drop score candidate in GPPs today due to the upside if he gets minutes. You can only consider him on DK if you are MMEing.

PF – Rondae Hollis-Jefferson (4500/4200): RHJ rounds up the list tonight. He is a stud coming off the bench here as he slowly works his way back from injury. As can be seen from the RS graphic, RHJ is trending upwards and is extremely hot right now. He has gone over 24 DKPs in each of his last 3 games. That’s good enough for around 6x at his current price. His ceiling projected at 34.6 DKPs makes him an excellent GPP option on both sites tonight.

Those are your Sixth men for today. Good luck out there today Army!
