The second main slate of the year is a huge 9-game one, filled with studs and a lot of value due to injury news hitting all over. There’s much to navigate on this slate, and we will have in-depth breakdowns over on our chat service. For now, let’s take a look at some of the top plays off the bench on this slate.
Before jumping in, here’s a look at one of the final wins we had in 2018!
CORE PLAYS
Spencer Dinwiddie (6800/7200): Spencer Dinwiddie gets an excellent matchup here against the Pelicans. Dinwiddie has been a little slump in his past two games, but this spot is perfect for him to bounce back. He is expensive on both sites and will go lower-owned making him an excellent GPP play. With his high floor, minutes and usage, he is also an option in cash games. I prefer him more on FD in cash and hybrid lineups.
DeMarre Carroll (5100/4000): Carroll has found his form and has gone for over 30 FDPs in his last two games off the bench. With a spate of injuries hitting the Nets, Carroll will be called on to shoulder some heavy minutes tonight. He is too cheap on both sites, especially on DK. He is playable in all formats in an excellent matchup.
Marcus Morris (5500/6000): This BOS/MIN game is going to be an interesting one. A lot of injuries are reshaping the matchup by the hour. There will be more injury news that affects this game. One certainty is that Marcus Morris is going to play, and at his price, he makes for a nice mid-tier option in cash and hybrid lineups.
J.J. Barea (4500/4600): Barea continues to do the ball handling for this Mavericks team with the 2nd unit and is always capable of crushing value in limited minutes. He is getting right around 20 MPG, which is not much, but with his ability to rack up assists, it is more than enough to meet value. He has a solid floor for his price and makes for a nice cash play if you desperately need a salary saver in this range.

GPP PLAYS
Malik Monk (4600/3600): With Jeremy Lamb out, Monk will see some more minutes tonight. Likely in the 25-30 range. My only interest in Monk is on DK where he is extremely cheap. At 3.6k it doesn’t take much for him to reach value, and given the matchup against the Mavericks, crushing value here is very much a possibility. In his last game, he put up 35.6 FDPs in just 24 minutes against the Magic. Expecting something similar here in that range is not out of the question.
Jaylen Brown (4500/4900): Brown found his shooting form last game, to the tune of 30 points on 10-15 FG. This translated into a 43.8 FDPs outing. He’ll look to build on this momentum to get his season on track. With Kyrie Irving questionable, he could get all the minutes he can handle here tonight. He makes for an excellent Hybrid and GPP play tonight. Especially if Kyrie is ruled out.
T.J. McConnell (4300/3600): McConnell has quietly been having a good run since Markelle Fultz went down. He has scored over 20 FPs in six straight games and 8 of his last 10 games. With all this production and minutes increase to 26 MPG in his last 10, his price hasn’t budged much on either site. The matchup today against the Suns is a fantastic one, and at just 3.6k on DK, McConnell makes for a fantastic GPP play.
Ed Davis (4200/3400): With everything going on, most people might forget about Ed Davis today. He was held out for rest last game, so he will be back refreshed tonight. With all the injuries they are dealing with, the Nets will need bodies today. They’ll especially need big bodies to deal with the size and length of AD and Randle. This is where Ed Davis comes in very handy. He has the size to at least attempt to guard AD down low. He’ll get minutes tonight and he’ll make the best of them. He’s an excellent GPP play on both sites, and especially on FD with the drop-score format.
In NBA we had some nice takedowns and WFBBC Qualifiers!
