DFS NBA Lineup Strategies – Blande’s 6th Man – Draftkings and Fanduel Advice Jan 21st

Hi there! I’m Glen but I go by Blande and you can find me on twitter as @DfsBlande. I’m a contributor and coach over here at the DFS Army.

We have a weird slate today. DK has split the slates nicely into a 5-game early slate and 4-game main slate. FD, on the other hand, couldn’t get their act together and so we have a 7-game slate that begins at 3 PM ET, with the last game kicking off at 10:30 PM ET. With no late swap, I don’t have to warn you about the perils of playing the FD main slate. For those who need constant reminding, this is a disaster waiting to happen. Don’t do it! That said, I’ll have you covered today on all the games. I’ve broken them down into an early, split, and main section to make it easier to read. Let’s jump in!

Shoutout to c-smoove for this nice takedown!

And shoutout to coach CashKeg for this excellent 2nd place finish as well!

EARLY SLATE

SG – Terrence Ross (5100/5500): Ross is averaging 29.6 DKPs in 29.6 MPG over his last 5 games. His production off the bench for the Magic has been extraordinary. If Gordon is not able to go today, Ross’ scoring will be needed, making him a phenomenal play in an excellent matchup against the Hawks who can’t stop anyone. Excellent GPP play.

SF – Otto Porter Jr. (7500/6200): Otto Porter is massively underpriced on DK. He is averaging 37.5 DKPs in 36.3 MPG over his last 3 games and should be over 7k on there. This kind of price discrepancy is something we want to exploit every time. He is a core all-format play on DK. He is priced at value on FD.

PF – Bobby Portis (5200/5900): Bobby Portis is underpriced on FD. He is playing over 26 MPG with Wendell Carter Jr. out and has put up 30.6 and 32.2 FDPs in those games. He gets a matchup against the Tristan Thompson-less Cavs today. It’s a good spot and he should easily pay off his 5.2k price tag on FD. He is a core play there. He is more of a GPP-only play on DK at his price.

SPLIT SLATE

PG – Shabazz Napier (3900/4200): Napier was eased in after his injury, but now he is back fully and will get his usual 24-28 minutes for the Nets. In a matchup against the Kings and the pace at which they play, this is a prime spot for Napier to crush value. He is underpriced on both sites here. All-format play on both sites.

PF – Marvin Bagley III (5800/5200): Bagley has recovered from his injury and is finally back to playing 25-30 MPG. Today he gets the fantastic matchup against the Nets who have issues defending almost everyone. At just 5.2k on DK, Bagley is clearly in play. He is a little expensive on FD, but the upside is there for him in this matchup.

MAIN SLATE

PG – Shelvin Mack (4400): Only on the FD main slate. Mack is cheap for someone getting 20-25 minutes and facing the Pelicans. This game is going to have some very good fantasy options, and Mack figures to get some of his own. He is a borderline drop-score candidate on FD here, with the upside to crush value as well.

SF – Lance Stephenson (3500/4000): Stephenson will get minutes here to handle the ball for the Lakers, with Lonzo Ball out for an extended period and Rondo not yet ready to return. He will see around 20-25 minutes, with the possibility of even more if he is playing well. He is also blowout-proof here, making him an excellent option on both sites and a drop-score candidate on FD.

SF – Nikola Mirotic (6100): No AD, and Mirotic is only 6.1k? Something is clearly off here. He should be over 7k in this spot, but the guys over at FD forgot to adjust it. I want all the Mirotic I can get in this spot. He’ll play well over 30 minutes here and will crush value at that price.

PF – Kenneth Faried (3000): He’s only in the DK player pool and priced at min price. Faried makes for an excellent play here in GPP if he suits up for the Rockets tonight. He is a PPM god, and the matchup is one he can perform in, especially if we get word Embiid is out. This is a GPP only play on DK and one we have to watch closely for more news.

C – Ivica Zubac (4300/4500): Last time Zubac faced the Warriors, he put up 39.8 FDPs on them. He is playing extremely well at the moment and will get another shot here. Factor in the fact that he is blowout-proof and we have the making of an excellent GPP play.

Those are your Sixth men for today. Good luck out there today Army!
