DFS NBA Lineup Strategies – Blande’s 6th Man – Draftkings and Fanduel Advice Jan 12th

Hi there! I’m Glen but I go by Blande and you can find me on twitter as @DfsBlande . I’m a contributor and coach over here at the DFS Army.

It’s another Saturday and we have 2 slates on our hands. An early two-game slate and a main six-game slate. This article will focus solely on the main slate, covering the best 6th Men out there. It is a Saturday and weird things have been known to happen on such slates, so play light and focus mainly on the hybrid/GPP track.

We have been on a nice winning streak. A shoutout to all the winners and a special shoutout to teambruce and dabbingpuggle for these takedowns!

MAIN SLATE 6TH MEN

PG – Derrick Rose (6300/6100): Derrick Rose is the standard candidate off the bench tonight. He has a fantastic matchup against the Pelicans tonight, and it will only get better if KAT misses. Without KAT, Rose has a 32.9% usage rate and averages 1.17 fp/min. He’ll likely see over 30 minutes tonight here, making him an excellent all-format play on both sites.

SG – Jaylen Brown (4400/4500): At the SG position, I love Jaylen Brown tonight. He’ll garner low ownership here due to his inconsistency, but the matchup is a good one. The Magic are in the bottom half of the pack against SGs while ranking near the top against PGs, which could funnel some more looks towards Brown. Brown is slowly finding his form this season, but his inconsistent play relegates him to a GPP Only play here on both sites tonight.

SF – Kelly Oubre Jr. (4900/4400): If Booker is out, fire up some Kelly Oubre tonight. We saw what Oubre did against the Kings and while he subsequently didn’t perform well against Mavericks, don’t forget that was a Mah game. Hopefully, that poor performance keeps his ownership a little lower here. Oubre is cheap for the minutes he’ll get here tonight. Making him a nice play. I’m fine using Oubre in Hybrid and GPP lineups on both sites.

PF – Richaun Holmes (3800/3800): Holmes has been on fire recently, turning what limited play time he gets into incredible production. He is making a case for getting more minutes regularly, but that won’t happen anytime soon. That said, Holmes is averaging 27.7 DKPs in 19.3 MPG over his last 5 games. At just 3800 on both sites, I sure want a piece of this. Holmes is better suited for GPP lineups given his minutes are inconsistent and dependent on whether Ayton stays out of foul trouble or not.

C – Guillermo Hernangomez (4900/4100): Once more we must figure out which Hornets center is best suited for tonight’s game. Biyombo will start and as the more athletic guy, he’ll get the first crack at Cauley-Stein. Biyombo is undersized here and WCS could take him to school there, which opens the door for the matchup bigger Hernangomez to play a larger role. There is nothing certain about how the minutes situation will turn out here, but at his price on DK and given the matchup, 25 minutes could be all Hernangomez needs to exceed value here. He is a DK only GPP play for me tonight.

GPP MME PLAYS

SG – Marco Belinelli (3900/3400): For those MMEing, Marco Belinelli makes for an interesting value play here. His upside is limited but his price allows you to stack up on some more studs. At just 3.4k on DK, he should have no problem at least hitting value here. On FD, he is a drop-score candidate.

C – Mason Plumlee (4500/4600): This is a DK Only play since there are much better center options on FD. With Trey Lyles questionable, Plumlee is in line to see some more minutes here. Plumlee just put up 42 DKPs in 20 minutes against the Clippers, but that was clearly an outlier. That said, he has upside here and deserves a spot or two if MMEing.

Those are your Sixth men for today. I’ll have notes out later for your consumption. Good luck out there today!
