Aces in the Hole: DFS Tennis Picks for January 15

Looking to bounce back today as we head into day 3 of the Australian Open. We could not have had more split (3-2, 2-1) losses go against us yesterday but we jump right back into the mix with 24 matches on tap for an 8:15 pm ET lock. The Aces are now 35-16 all-time and we definitely don’t play it safe with the massive favorites here. My basic lineup construction in all formats is to focus on the mid-range with one moderate underdog in a lineup and fill in with favorites. There will always be exceptions but that’s my base starting approach for every build. Make sure to jump into VIP Chat for any questions and I’ll be dropping the rest of my player pool.

The Aces are three free plays but in Chat, VIPs have aces to my, and all our coaches, player pool. Not a VIP? Fix that and use code SNIPER for 10% off.

One last thing – if you don’t already, please give me a follow on Twitter and subscribe to my YouTube channel at the links below. OK, enough of the intro, let’s get to it.

MY TENNIS ACES FOR JANUARY 15

(Slate Locks at 8:15 pm ET)

ACES ALL-TIME RECORD: 35-16 (68.6%)

Maria Sharapova ($9,400) – Let’s start today with a small pay-up option in Maria Sharapova though $9,400 is still a good price for her -455 odds to win. She blasted Harriet Dart in the first round with a good ol’ double bagel (6-0, 6-0). She played well at the U.S. Open last year with a round of 16 appearance and is 6-2 in her last eight matches. While her opponent Rebecca Peterson isn’t playing poorly, Sharapova is simply the better player and if her game shows up I expect her to win in straight sets.

Yulia Putintseva ($7,000) – Now let’s save some salary and move to Yulia Putintseva who checks in as a +120 underdog against Belinda Bencic. Putintseva has knocked off some significant names as of late and also leads the head-to-head versus Bencic, 2-0. This should be a tight match all-around but with tight pricing I do like the value of Putintseva who my model likes to edge out a victory. The discount isn’t huge but anyone I can project in a winnable match-up for $7,000 is firmly in play.

Gael Monfils ($8,200) – Let’s get back on brand with a true mid-range play in Gael Monfils and is $8,200 price tag as a -175 favorite. Monfils was lights out in the first round with a 6-0, 6-4, 6-0 smashing of #47 ranked Dzumhur. Taylor Fritz will be on the other side of the net and pulled a minor upset over Norrie in the opening round. Monfils is in better form against mostly better opposition and falls in the salary sweet spot I like to attack.

That’s it guys and girls! Jump into VIP chat and find me to talk about the slate and definitely let me know how we can improve our Tennis coverage at DFS Army.
