Week 12 College Football Wednesday- Friday Night Slate (November 14-16, 2018)

Slate Overview:

Switching things up a little bit this week, as there are two Wednesday games, 3 Thursday games, and 2 Friday games. I will be updating this page as the week moves on.

  • Wednesday: Buffalo @ Ohio (O/U 66, -2.5), 7:00pm ET
  • Wednesday: Miami (OH) @ Northern Illinois (O/U 55, -6.5) 8pm ET
  • Thursday: Toledo(O/U 59, -13) @ Kent State  6:00pm ET
  • Thursday: Tulane @ Houston (o/U 67.5, -10) 8pm ET
  • Thursday: FAU @North Texas (O/U 63.5, -3) 9:30pm ET
  • Friday: Memphis (O/U 72.5, -9)  @ SMU 9:00pm ET
  • Friday: Boise State (O/U 60, -2.5) @ New Mexico, 9:00pm ET

Friday

Happy Friday! Quiet 2-gamer here, before Black Friday next week, which will offer 15 FBS games throughout the day.  My favorite QB is SMU’s Ben Hicks. Out of the four teams on this slate, SMU and Boise State have by far the most to play for. SMU is 5-5 and needs a win for bowl eligibility. They also have an outside shot at winning the AAC West. Boise State has a lot to play for also, but tonight is somewhat of a trap game before next week’s showdown vs. Utah State, which could decide the Mountain Division of the Mountain West.

DraftKings

For DraftKings, my four-player core is SMU QB Ben Hicks, Memphis RB Darrell Henderson, New Mexico RB Daevon Vigilant, and Boise QB Brett Rypien. Vigilant is a redshirt freshman running back and with who has seen an increased workload the last two weeks, with New Mexico now out of bowl consideration, I can’t see why that wouldn’t continue versus Boise.  At RB, you can also consider Memphis RB Patrick Taylor Jr., Boise RB Andrew Mattison, and SMU RB Ke’Mon Freeman. I don’t hate the idea of fading Henderson in GPP to fit all three of these backs in. A flex option I am on is Memphis RB Tony Pollard.

My top WR today is SMU’s James Proche, who has 20 DKFP in 3 of his past four games. I don’t mind running a double stack with Hicks-Proche-Roberson. Roberson is a fine pivot if you can’t get up to Proche, as the receiving has been very concentrated between the two. Boise State is trickier, with a more spread out receiving core. Modster is generally the safest for cash and Richardson is the big play guy. Keep an eye out on the status of WR John Hightower (30-496-8), who sat out last Friday’s game. If he is back in play, that will the Boise WR corp down slightly. As for other WR in my player pool, I do like Memphis WR Damonte Coxie on the high end. On the low end, I am interested in Boise WR CT Thomas (safer) and WR Khalil Shakir, a true freshman that is better for GPP.

FanDuel

Same core: SMU QB Ben Hicks, Memphis RB Darrell Henderson,  New Mexico RB Daevon Vigilant, and Boise QB Brett Rypien. I like Memphis WR Damonte Coxie a little better here than Richardson as he will not have to fit as much for touchdowns, though both are squarely in play. The double stack with Hicks-Proche-Roberson is definitely in play too.  I like Shakir more here, as well. With Shakir and Vigilant, you have enough salary to fit in whomever else you’d like to play.

DraftKings

I want to start out my core construction with Houston QB D’Eriq “The Freak” King, RB Patrick Carr, RB Devin Singletary, and WR Marquez Stevenson.  I actually do not know if King’s nickname is “The Freak,” but he should win the DFS Heisman. King still feels too cheap on this short slate. UH has been absolutely hammered by injuries:

“The Cougars are also without two other starters on the defensive line, Isaiah Chambers and Jerard Carter, top safety Garett Davis, wide receivers Courtney Lark and Keith Corbin and running backs Terence Williams and Mulbah Car.” – Houston Chronicle

With the other RB’s out, I like Carr for Houston, as he should get more carries, even though  King gets a lot of rushes himself. Singletary’s numbers speak for themselves: He has reached 20 rushing TDs for the second year in a row. I am not a fan of FAU QB Chris Robison, who has been pulled at times, injured at times, and mostly ineffective.  At WR, Keith Corbin is out for the first time this year, joining Courtney Lark who is not expected to play either. Give me all the Stevenson. As for receiver,  Tulane’s Encalade and Houston’s Raelon Singleton are decent price plays, but I don’t have cash receivers that I am set on  running mates. I am not willing to get very cute at quarterback on this slate. Houston has been torched through the air this year, allowing 314 pass yards/game, so I do like Tulane’s Justin McMillan as a potential option.  McMillan has started the last three games and played well.

My GPP darkhorse for both sites is Houston WR/QB Bryson Smith, who went nuts last week with three TDs and 117 receiving yards. To me, this is a “playing to win” kind of play. I have mentioned the Houston injuries, so he may have an expanded role one again.

FanDuel

I will most likely use the same core as FD: Houston QB D’Eriq “The Freak” King, RB Patrick Carr, RB Devin Singletary, and WR Marquez Stevenson.  As an RB pivot, I am somewhat interested in Bryant Koback, who has double digit carries in 3 straight games.

North Texas WR Rico Bussey (9200) is a little cheaper on FD than Stevenson, so I think he is an interesting play there as well. I do not hate trying to fit either Tulane’s Mooney and Encalade and going for a mini-stack, with McMillan.

For value, you can turn to Encalade and Raleon Singleton again.

My GPP darkhorse for both sites is Houston WR/QB Bryson Smith, who went nuts last week with three TDs and 117 receiving yards. To me, this is a “playing to win” kind of play. I have mentioned the Houston injuries, so he may have an expanded role one again. On FanDuel, he is a QB, so you’d have to play him at SuperFlex, but I don’t mind pairing King and Smith together as a “mock” 1-QB lineup.

DraftKings

Almost assuredly, a two QB day, and most of my builds will have the likely chalk pairing of Rourke and Tyree Jackson. Rourke and Jackson are the two top QBs. I am interested in Ragland, as a pivot. Miami-OH needs this game to reach bowl eligibility, being 4-6, but they will have to go against NIU, which is #13 in Defensive S&P. My two favorite running back plays are Patterson and A.Smith. Patterson has been on a roll for UB. Smith is getting a lot of goal line work. I do not mind NIU’s Harbison or Miami-OH’s K. Young (who has value being involved in the passing game). At WR, most of my builds are all-in on Buffalo. Either A. Johnson or K.Osborn at the top level, and then rounding out with Rushing (35 targets/3 TDs and Mabry (30 targets 2 TDs) for near minimum.

FanDuel

Like, DK, I am starting my builds with the Rourke-Jackson-Patterson-Smith four man QB/RB core, but this will likely be a very popular construction. Young, Ouellette, and  Harbison are all in play for RB pivots.  At WR, I am using Noah Becker as somewhat of a throw-away pick to get some of the slate’s better receivers, like Johnson, Osborne, White, Meyer and Sorenson.
