Shark Autopsy – Q & A with 2 Time FanDuel $100,000 Winner – DFSArmy VIP Member Dradt8386

Welcome to the Shark Autopsy Report MLB Edition!  Over the course of the remainder of the MLB season this article will deconstruct winning FanDuel lineups of contests where the dark waters of GPP contests are ripe with sharks.  Navigating these waters where the sharks smell blood in the water is not easy, but the DFSArmy have you covered, providing you with the essential daily tools to help our VIPs turn into sharks!  The article will be released twice weekly, with each day’s article looking at either single entry or multi-entry GPP contests. Each contest requires a different lineup construction.

Follow me on Twitter and if you are a VIP I will see you in the MLB channels. I enjoy seeing and hearing from all of the VIPs when things go well.  If you aren’t a VIP member, there’s an easy way to get a free month to test the Army out.  The Army has all of the content, tools, second-to-none Domination Station Optimizer, and the most accessible MLB staff and coaches in the industry to guide you in your journey of becoming a better DFS player.

At DFSArmy, we pride ourselves on the ability of the coaches to teach and provide our members the methodologies, processes, tools and thought process to become a DFS player that can grow their bankroll with proper bankroll management and turn your everyday DFS Joe into a DFS Pro. And, we may have done just that with DFSArmy member Dradt8386.….

Many of you may not know who David Lampley is or heard of DFSArmy slack member Dradt8386 or knew of FanDuel screen name BV6211 prior to the start of the 2018 MLB season, but YOU DO NOW! Lampley is the most successful MLB DFSArmy player to date, amassing nearly $300K over multiple GPP daily events! Lampley has taken FanDuel by storm, a two time $100K winner in the last 14 days, and prior to that he won $50K, $20K, and twice $10K winners. In his incredible run of dominance on FanDuel, he has had the number 1 player in DFS number, Awesemo, where Awesemo has come runner up in not 1, not 2, not 3, but 4 of Lampley’s 6 GPP 5-6 figure FanDuel wins including his 2 $100K wins! Lampley’s MLB DFS run on FanDuel is reminiscent of an MLB run you may remember from a few year back on DraftKings from DFS Shark BeepImaJeep.

In this edition of the Shark Autopsy Report, we got the opportunity to do a Q&A with DFSArmy member David Lampley, to go behind the curtain of his dominance and get to know him a little better. So, let’s sit back and relax and let’s take a look at how he got here:

The Run of FanDuel Dominance Began Here…

David Lampley may be one of the most humble DFS winners I have had the privilege to be associated with as acting members of the DFSArmy. Not only does he provide his sincerest appreciation to the tools, time and effort of the Army’s coaches, but has paid it forward to the Army’s coaches. In my opinion, paying it forward when you have come across success in what you are passionate about generates greater success for you in return!

Q: When did you get into DFS? And, what was your introduction to DFS?

A: I started playing about three, three and a half years ago. I started with football since I thought I knew something about the game, as it turned out that I may have known the game but I knew nothing about DFS and took a beating.

Q: What DFS sports do you play outside of MLB?

A: I am a degenerate and will play almost any sport. NHL, PGA, NFL, NASCAR. I never played NBA until I joined the army and started playing because I was reading the articles and was able to at least cash every now and then. With the Army tools I even started a couple of lineups in Tennis the other day.

Q: What was your first DFS GPP win and what was the feeling you had when you won?

A: My first win was on DK in NHL, was probably more shocked than anything else.

Monday night, Dradt8386 took down first place and $100K in FanDuel’s $350K MLB Colossus!

He also took 7th place Monday night in the same tournament!

For those of you that believe that you have to Mass Multi Enter lineups in FanDuel or DraftKings GPPs are dead wrong, in fact, Mass Multi Entering is not part of Dradt8386’s DFS MLB repertoire!

Q: On a typical MLB slate, how many lineups do you typically enter? Are you more of Mass Multi Entry player or Single Entry player?

A: I am somewhere in between, I only play GPP contests and I typically have somewhere between 5 and 7 lineups per night.

Wait, wait, wait…. So you’re telling me that Dradt8386 has won approximately $300K this MLB season, and he has done it by entering only 5 – 7 lineups per night. That simply can’t be!  In fact it can and will happen time and time again. Every year during the NFL season, we hear stories from Milly Maker winners who say that they only entered one lineup into the Milly Maker that won the tourney and a life changing $1,000,000.

So, if you are sitting there reading the Shark Autopsy Report and are thinking to yourself, hey maybe I can do this too, then you need to become a member of the DFSArmy because you can’t do it alone! You are not too late, DFSArmy has amazing NFL content and coaches to take the DFS NFL scene by storm. So what are you waiting for? Go sign up with DFSArmy, and the Army will help you become a better DFS player.

If that Wasn’t Enough….

On Saturday, Dradt8386 took down first place and $100K in FanDuel’s $200K MLB Gladiator!

Wow, two 6-figure payouts in a matter of a week is simply amazing! So Dradt8386 how do you do it?

Q: Approach or process to lineup creation is something everyone works to conquer each day or week, what is your approach to optimize your lineup quality daily?

A: I stick to FD for MLB and will typically run a 4/3 stack. I have started to refine my process little by little but for the most part I start with trying to identify the 3 to 5 pitchers that I want to use and 4 to 6 teams that I think are in a good spot. Then I turn to the articles. Chop, DFS Donuts, CeeGee, Mdell, Thunder Dan et al. I am looking at the teams they recommend and if the same team is appearing in all the articles then I make sure that they are one of the teams I end up using. After I have identified the teams and pitchers I am going to use, I use the DS (Domination Station Optimizer) to create the 4/3 stack with each of the two team parings with one of the pitchers that I lock. I will then take the one off spot and use the RS (DFS Army MLB Research Station) to see if there is some change I want to make. I am usually looking at the RS to find a player that may leave some salary on the table or one that has good BVP numbers. The one off spot is where I will try to take some bigger risks.

If I run 5 lineups I try to break down as follows:

  1. I will try to “cover the chalk” with a team that is a little contrarian in at least two of the lineups so that I don’t miss out if the chalk goes off.
  2. Completely fade the chalk with one line up, not with two contrarian teams, but with two of the fringe teams that will have 10-15% ownership.
  3. Last two lineups are just combinations of the above, usually the chalk with the fringe teams and usually a cheaper pitcher.

Inspiration….

Q: What tips could you provide to DFSArmy members that could help and inspire them to strive for success within DFS?

A: I am not sure that I can inspire anyone to success but I can give a couple of the lessons that I have taken from the Army that has helped me really become a better player.

  1. Develop a system and give it time to work. I used to jump around from system to system if I struggled for a couple of days. Especially in MLB it takes time for anything to be proven or disproven.
  2. Use the coach’s advice, they really know what they are talking about. Are they perfect with every pick or recommendation, of course not, but if you understand why they are making the recommendation rather than focusing on what the recommendation is you will start to be able to tweak the system to fit your style of play. I really started to take off huge leap forward when I was making my place holder line up and would have a lineup full of players that were the ones being recommended in articles and highly rated on the RS, not because I suddenly was that much smarter but because I understood the why of what the coaches recommended.
  3. Don’t be afraid to leave salary on the table. I used to cram players in and make so many changes so that I would spend up to the cap or only leave a couple of hundred in space. Some of my best line ups leave between 500 and 1,000 in space on the salary cap.

The Future

Q: Where do you see yourself in the future in regards to DFS?

A: I really don’t know, just riding the wave until it crashes and then I guess I will reassess.

What an incredible run for David Lampley with over $300K in winnings these past couple of months.
