Jaguar Lou’s Jamboree MLB DFS GPP Theory Advice for FanDuel and DraftKings – 8/5

This article will be providing my top GPP plays. Before we start, a pack of Jaguars is called a Jamboree…There, does the name of the article make sense now? Good! I’m a funny guy, people call me funny Louie. Alright no one calls me funny Louie but regardless, here are my main slate GPP plays for Sunday, August 5th.

Pitchers

The New York Mets have scored 14 runs over the past week, ranking them 29th in the league. The Mets face Julio Teheran today. Teheran has allowed a .148 team batting average in 128 at bats vs. the NYM. In these at bats, Teheran has struck out 29 Mets but It’s not just the amount of Mets that he has struck out, but the fact that he has struck out almost all of the Mets at least twice that has me confident in Teheran’s strike out potential today. The Mets have also been striking out more than usual over the past week. Over their past six games, the Mets have struck out 52 times, ranking 13th highest in the league. While the Mets have performed poorly all year, their strike out numbers have actually stayed consistently average. Now, in the later part of the season, we see Mets coming up from the minors accounting for more strikeouts. When you look at this Mets lineup, it actually doesn’t scare you, ever. So, I don’t expect Julio Teheran, a pitcher who has consistently dominated the Mets, to trip up here against a Cabrera-less, “B-squad” Mets team, who have just been straight up horrible as of late. The Atlanta Braves are favored by -127 with an 8.5 O/U.

Other pitching option(s): Shane Bieber

Stacks

The Philadelphia Phillies own a team .355 team batting average against Dan Straily with seven homeruns. The Phillies were struggling up until yesterday but they turned it around last night and I do believe that continues today. The Phillies have been striking out a ton so it would make sense to invest in a very small percentage of Dan Straily. But with that said, I am very confident in the Phillies scoring at least 5+ runs today. Normally when I see a team with such high averages amongst all of their top players, this is an indicator for a solid offense of game. Dan Straily owns a 9.00 ERA in four innings pitched against the Phillies so far this season. The Phillies batted .375 as a team in this outing. Dan Straily has poor splits to both lefties and righties but lefties are hitting better in terms of the long ball and for average. In his last start, Dan Straily allowed five earned runs off 11 hits over 3.2 innings vs. the Atlanta Braves. The Philadelphia Phillies are my most confident stack of the day, the question is do you go to a four-man or a five-man stack on DraftKings. The Phillies are favored by -240 with a 7.5 O/U.

*Pairing the Phillies stack with Aaron Nola makes a great start to your lineup for construction purposes.*

Other stack option(s): St. Louis Cardinals

One-Off of the Day

Nick Williams was put into the 3 slot yesterday after a solid week of hitting. He consequently hit a homerun in the 1st , making manager Gabe Kapler look pretty, pretty good (Curb your Enthusiasm reference). Today, I expect Williams to be in the 3rd slot again – Bg things to come from the heating up Nick Williams and the Philadelphia Phillies.
