Blande’s Bland Take: WNBA DFS Rundown and Picks 8/12/2018 (Main)

Hi there! I’m Glen but I go by Blande and you can find me on twitter as @DfsBlande . I’m here over at the DFS Army with coverage of WNBA. The two game main slate brings four of the top teams in the league together. The pricing on Fanduel is wicked, making it very hard to build a solid lineup. You’ll have to make choices between poor punts. Let’s dive in!

  • Los Angeles Sparks @ Phoenix Mercury

This will be a great game to watch and target on the main slate. Candace Parker is a key play for the Sparks. With the new Mercury starting lineup, the Sparks rotate Nneka Ogwumike on Britney Griner, leaving Parker to handle DeWanna Bonner. This makes Parker an excellent play while limiting the upside of Ogwumike. The only other Sparks player of interest here is Chelsea Gray who is playable in all formats. Alana Beard and Odyssey Sims are only usable as GPP punts.

Britney Griner will be shadowed by Ogwumike today, limiting her upside. Griner is still capable of performing here, but giving the options on this slate, there’s no reason to chase here. DeWanna Bonner is my favorite stud here today for the Mercury. The matchup against Parker is an exploitable one. Once again, I’ll be fading Diana Taurasi. I just don’t play anyone who will be guarded by Alana Beard. Rather, Stephanie Talbot makes for an okay punt play here.

  • Seattle Storm @ Minnesota Lynx

This game is going to be an interesting one to target. Breanna Stewart and Natasha Howard are the top Storm players to target here. They are playable in all formats against the Lynx. It is clear by now that I believe Jewell Loyd is overpriced, my preferred option today is Sue Bird since she is much cheaper. Loyd is still playable in a great matchup, I just believe she is expensive and the savings can be used elsewhere, especially on Fanduel. Finally, Jordin Canada makes for an interesting GPP punt play in case this game goes out of hand.

The Lynx are without both Danielle Robinson and Rebekkah Brunson. I doubt Lindsay Whalen gets a third game off given how shorthanded they are, but I got burnt by her last time out, so I’ll be watching for news from the Lynx. Either way, Sylvia Fowles and Maya Moore will be called to carry the Lynx today. Fowles is my preferred play due to her matchup and is good for use in all formats. Moore on the other hand is a strictly GPP play due to the matchup against Alysha Clark. Tanisha Wright and Lindsay Whalen make for good punt plays today and trust me you’ll need as many of them as you can get on Fanduel. Cecilia Zandalasini is the best forward punt on this slate.
