Aces in the Hole: DFS Tennis Picks for August 6

The very first DFS Army Tennis article crushed it…so let’s run it back as we start a fresh week of matches. For Tennis, I use an odds-based approach, mixing in current form and playing surface history.

This article will be free for now and probably move to VIP only when the U.S. Open starts. That’s no reason to wait to become a VIP member with baseball in full swing and football around the corner…not to mention that signing up now locks in your price forever (take the hint). Become a VIP and use code SNIPER to get a 10% discount automatically applied to your account each and every month.

One last thing – if you don’t already, please give me a follow on Twitter and subscribe to my YouTube channel at the links below. OK, enough of the intro, let’s get to it.

MY TENNIS ACES FOR AUGUST 6

Slate Locks at 11:00 am ET

Bradley Klahn ($6,900) – As far as odds value goes, here’s the mega-chalk of the slate. Klahn is only $6,900 but is a -133 favorite against David Ferrer. Ferrer is at the tail end of his career and it’s scary to target against him, especially versus a 116th ranked qualifier. But I can’t ignore the line value along with the fact that Ferrer has lost four of his last five and six of his last eight. Ferrer could turn it on at any time and return to old form for when last hurrah, but at $6,900 I’ll take my chances on Klahn.

Pierre-Hughes Herbert ($8,000) – A -200 favorite at just $8,000, yes please. Herbert is playing Albert Ramos-Vinoas, loser of three straight matches while the Frenchmen has won three of four with that loss coming to #11 David Goffin in a third set tiebreaker. The only thing missing here is some head-to-head history but Herbert has the fifth best odds to win on the slate and is priced in the middle of the pool.

Anastasija Sevastova ($9,100) – The value on this slate isn’t limited to the middle and bottom of the salary range, enter Sevastova. She has the same win odds as the two most expensive players on the slate but comes in at a nice $300 discount. On top of that, her opponent Aleksandra Krunic has lost three straight while Sevastova has won seven in a row (I’m not counting her last match when she retired due to fatigue after playing seven matches in 10 days). Sevastova is also 2-1 against Krunic on hard courts, including a 6-2, 6-4 win in January.

Peter Polansky ($6,600) – More cheap value although I think this one falls in the GPP category…or a pivot if you afraid of Klahn/Ferrer. Polansky is a small +129 underdog and is playing as a wildcard entry in his home country. Polansky is also in good form, winning six of his last seven. His opponent Matthew Ebden is a strong hard court player and is also playing hot right now with seven wins in his last eight matches. The two have played three times and while Ebden leads the series 2-1 he has never downed Polansky in straight sets.

That’s it guys and girls! Please jump into Slack and find me to talk about the slate and definitely let me know how we can improve our Tennis coverage at DFS Army. If you’re not a VIP member with access to Slack Chat, join today and use code SNIPER for 10% off! It’s a new DFS game and I look forward to watching it evolve with the rest of you.
