The Sway Bar: NASCAR DFS Fades and Values for Pocono July 2018

Welp. I don’t even know where to start. A plethora of cars got their time disallowed so we have a lot of great cars starting in the back. Its going to be a weird week. I am going to do things a little different and just talk about who I think is relevant based on starting spot, history, and speed. As always, the research is just getting started, so think about getting signed up and get exclusive access to our projection model, the domination station lineup optimizer, and most importantly, direct chat room access to some of the sharpest NASCAR minds in the industry. I will be on there all weekend updating everyone on my research.

Kevin Harvick – Kevin was one of the lucky few who had their Q time disallowed, but he will still have the fastest car when the green flag flies. His history at Pocono is rock solid, and led 89 laps here just a few weeks ago. I expect him to be towards the front before the start of stage one.

Kyle Busch – KB will start one spot ahead of Harvick, and doesn’t seem to have quite the speed. However, he is one of the best at Pocono, and NO ONE is better at driving from the back then Busch. Of the big through, I think he is the most volatile this week, but you can’t ignore that starting spot. A solid play.

Joey Logano – Penske brought some legit speed this weekend, and no one is in better position to capitlize than young Joey Logano. Pocono hasn’t been one of Joey’s best tracks, but he starts 30th with a top five car.

Jimmie Johnson – Chev has found some speed over the last few weeks, and seems like the can compete for top fives again. This makes Jimmie, who starts 35, extremely relevant. He finished 8th here in June – and they are faster now. Don’t forget about JJ when you make your lineups this weekend.

Kyle Larson – I haven’t been super impressed with Larson so far this week, but he ran super well here in June AND he starts 32nd. I think he may go a little under owned, so he may be a valuable play come Sunday.

Clint Bowyer, Ryan Blaney, Aric Almirola, Austin Dillon, Paul Menard, William Byron, Bubba Wallace are all starting at the back as well, and should all get your attention Sunday. Paul Menard is probably my favorite among that group.

Martin Truex Jr. – The June race winner starts 8th, and has tremendous speed once again. He will be mostly uncontested in Stage One I believe, and will likely lead a good portion before competing for a win. The heavy hitters starting at the back will likely push down his ownership.

Denny Hamlin – If you are looking for a BIG pivot, look no further than Denny Hamlin. He has really solid speed and is FANTASTIC at Pocono. If the other heavy hitters have to use up equipment to battle foward, Denny will be in a good spot ot compete for a win.

Kasey Kahne – I imagine Kasey will be a near lock for everyone this week, as he starts 40th. He has a little speed this weekend, but his survivability is what makes him an elite play this week. I can’t bring myself to fade him this week.

Overall, this week is going to be finding the right combination of guys starting at the back, and the one at the front who dominates early. Chances are the tounaments will get split between multiple winners, but don’t be afraid to get a little whacky. My advice would be to make a good mix of all back of the pack drivers lines, and MOSTLY back of the pack drivers lines.

So there it is folks. We will be talking more strategy on the DFS Army Slack Room right up until lock. Get signed up and get exclusive access to our projection model, the domination station lineup optimizer, and most importantly, direct chat room access to some of the sharpest NASCAR minds in the industry. As always, use my research as a launching point for yours. Trust your process, good luck this week, and let’s make some cash.
