MLB DFS on FanDuel and DraftKings
Hello! My name is Mitch but nobody really cares who I am. I go by @DFSnDONUTS on Twitter and I really am not that exciting. However, I am always excited to deliver content to the DFS faithful. Researching and writing about Daily Fantasy Sports is an absolute passion of mine and I love to immerse myself in numbers. I am humbled to have you reading my column and I hope that I am able to bring you some success.
The modus operandi of this column is to deliver compelling evidence through analytics, trends, and useful data as to why a hitter is an ideal target to invest in. The hitters identified are on the verge of breaking out or are currently swinging the lumber like it’s a toothpick. Some of these hitters will be a foregone conclusion while others will take some courage to insert into your lineup.
Many of the statistics and research are found using the Research Station. Everything from wOBA and ISO vs the Handedness of today’s starting pitcher, to Average Exit Velocity over the last 14-days resides within this tool. Using this valuable resource will cut your daily research time in half and is very helpful for my fellow #DadLife DFS’ers.

Breakout Batters
Mitch Moreland likely will bat in the middle of the lineup on Tuesday and the Red Sox have an implied run total of 5.8 at the open. Yes, please!
Over his last 12-games, Mitch (what a great first name) has a 40% hard-hit rate, 37% fly ball rate, 240 foot batted ball distance and a 93 MPH exit velocity. Every single one of those is an increase on his season-long advanced stats.
Joey Gallo is an all or nothing play every single night. Some nights he has a better probability of being an “all” play and Tuesday presents one of those opportunities for him to win you a GPP.
Over the last 10-games, Gallo has a 47% hard-hit rate, a 238 foot batted ball distance, a 92 MPH exit velocity and a hysterically high 70% fly ball rate.
His splits against right-handed pitcher are superb (.367 wOBA and .323 ISO) and the Rangers are implied to score 5.2 runs against Tyson Ross and the visiting San Diego Padres.
I write a daily MME Playbook, in which I write a full article detailing my personal pitching player pool, identify value hitters, and lay out which stacks I plan on using and what teams I will be targeting. I get pretty intricate with the daily strategy for MME (mass multi-entering) and even give out my personal advice for what percentage of exposure you might want to have on each team, player, and pitcher. It’s lead to 14-wins (over the last six weeks) ranging from the .25 buy-in all the way up to the $44 buy-in from various members and staff.

Jake Marisnick is someone who pops in the Astros lineup sometimes when they face a left-handed pitcher. Even though he bats in the bottom half of the order and even last most of the time, that lineup can do damage at any moment and wrap around to the top of the order with ease.
Over his last 6-games, Marisnick has a 38% hard-hit rate, 46% fly ball rate, 246 foot batted ball distance and a 94 MPH exit velocity. Those are strong numbers.
His wOBA is .071 points higher (.311) and ISO is .023 higher (.191) when facing right-handed pitchers (like Tuesday) compared to his splits against left-handed pitchers.
Max Stassi is another hitter I am going to target on Tuesday and makes for a nice bottom of the order stacking partner with Marisnick. Stassi has smashed left-handed pitchers in 2018 and over the last 7-games has been crushing the ball. He’s had a 46% hard-hit rate, 46% fly ball rate, a 226 foot batted ball distance and a 92 MPH exit velocity.
His splits against left-handed pitchers are phenomenal and he’s firmly planted himself as a platoon hitter for one of the best offenses in the league. Currently, he has a .384 wOBA and .268 ISO against LHP’s.
