UW81 here. I’m a contributor over at DFS Army with a focus on playing on Draft. Give me a follow on Twitter to catch the latest news on Draft for MLB, PGA, and NFL.  As always, your best compliment is retweeting and/or sharing this information across social media.  Thank you!

This article focuses primarily on 3-Man snake draft strategy. Reason being is that you can easily apply this information to H2H as well as widen up to 4-Man contests, which is the average size of the daily GPPs. I’m going to break down what I saw in 20-30 drafts today and how we can exploit our opponents using our tools over on DFS Army.

Quick Trends (20 game sample)

  • He’s been boom or bust lately, but coming in #1 today by a large margin is Trout. He’s just one of those hitters that can go yard at a moments notice while also go 0/4. He’s not someone I mind rostering any given day when you don’t need to worry about salaries.
  • Rounding out your first round picks was Carrasco, Lindor, Ramierez, and Martinez.
  • 100% Drafted: Trout, Carrasco, Lindor, Ramierez, JD Martinez, Lindor, Encarnacion, McCutchen, and Benintendi. 9/15 (60%) make up your Chalk today which leaves a little more wiggle room than usual.

Draft Projections & Rankings

The default draft rankings by position in Draft for their top positions. While most of these would be solid plays, they are vastly different than our projections and grades we developed in house at DFS Army where take into account many different metrics that these do not. Combining our brand new Starting Lineups Page, Domination Station, Articles, and research station, you can quickly see where some players in absolute smash spots should be drafted higher than what’s on this list.

Strategy

  • Pitching is a little sparse tonight. You can make a case for 4  pitchers, but there is definitely differentiation between the top and bottom today. Considering there isn’t a ton of scarcity in hitters, I would grab a pitching option earlier today.
  • It’s all about the tribe if my drafts have anything to say about it. Everyone wanted a piece of them today as they sit in a great spot.
  • Oddly ignored was the Chicago Cubs rolling into Milwaukee on either side of the bat. Chicago for the past few years has dominated the boom or bust bats for Milwaukee. I think there’s a few options on both sides you can roll out tonight to get a little differentiation.
  • Our tools are pointing in a different direction with a few guys you shoudl consider that got passed up like two day old left overs. We’ll be talking about them in our VIP slack today and why I’m advocating for them.

I’ll be posting my personal recommendations and comparisons to our projections in our Premium Slack services before lock.
