What a 1st month weatherwise in MLB DFS!

Weather rumblings over the 1st month of the season by dfsweather:

1) an incredible 28 PPD so far, the most in March/April since 1983 (officially MLB did not start keeping track of PPD numbers until 1986)

2) an amazing 6 games were postponed on Sunday, April 15th alone 3

) 12 different parks have seen a PPD so far, including TOR (a retractable roof stadium) and SF (the 1st there in over a decade)

4) DET has already had 6 games at Commerica PPD, most in the 18-year history of the stadium

5) Over the last 10 years (2008-2017) there have been a total of 334 PPD, with a yearly high of 51 in 2011 and a low of 20 in 2012

6) Over the same 10 year period, April had 108 PPD, an average of almost 11 per year

7) WSH (no surprise considering a couple of their decisions last year) has the most PPD over that 10 year span, at 27. Amazingly, NYY, NYM and BOS all have had exactly 22

8 ) Speaking in Toronto on Tuesday, Commissioner Manfred said: “This has really been a unique April for us. We’ve set a record for the number of games that have been cancelled and, probably more troublingly, we’ve played a lot of games in really tough weather. I think we have 12 cities that have been more than 10 degrees below their average temperature for the month of April.” Still, Manfred said the solution isn’t as simple as scheduling early-season games in domes and warm-weather cities. “No teams are going to want to start the season on the road for a couple of weeks,” Manfred said. “In fact, the Basic Agreement prohibits a trip that long. Equally important, the domed and warm-weather markets don’t want that many games early in the year. Whether you have a dome or it’s warm weather until school gets out they are tougher dates. We will do everything possible to try to schedule in a way that minimizes weather damage. It’s in our interest to do that. But there are real limitations in the schedule.”

9) Good news is ahead: Much of the country east of the Rockies will run 10 degrees or more above average next week, with cities such as DET, CLE, PIT, PHI, BAL, NYC and BOS reaching 80 degrees
