Donuts NBA DFS Positional Breakdown for Cash/GPP/MME on FanDuel and DraftKings

Today you’re going to receive my personal cash game player pool, GPP pivots I plan to use to hedge my nightly investment off of the guys I use in my cash games, and lastly my personal MME strategy based on the slate and my research.

Cash Game Player Pool – I enter about 85% of my nightly investment into H2H’s and a light amount of double-ups and 50/50’s. You could add 3-man contests to this list in my personal opinion.

Here is a quick example of what my cash lineup might look like invested;

$50 into H2H’s at the $1 and $2 level
$15 into double-ups and 50/50’s

PG

Yogi Ferrell/JJ Barae – He’s going to play solid 33-36 minutes and split ball-handling duties with JJ Barae. He’s the better cash option for FD while Barae is the better cash option on DraftKings.

Ian Clark – I dig him on FanDuel at just $3,900 as he sees a nice usage bump and should get a healthy 30-minutes of playing time. As much as I like him on FD I like him even more on DK at $3,500. He’s a lock for me on both sites *IF* I were to play cash (H2H’s).

Rajon Rondo – I think it turns into a two-man game with Rondo and AD. Rondo is priced perfectly for cash games.

Jeff Teague – He’s in a good spot with good history here and is priced well on DK for him to exceed value. He’s not really in play for me on FD.

Damian Lillard/Shabazz Napier – They’re both questionable tonight and if either one were to miss and the other play they’d both be viable options. Napier would be close to a lock for me and Lillard would just be a nice high-end option.

SG

Tyreke Evans! Just kidding…

CJ McCollum – He’s a stud on DraftKings at just $6,700 either way for me. I like him on FanDuel due to the lack of people I will be paying up for and the solid amount of value we have.

Lou Williams – If Tobias Harris misses the game Sweet Lou will be relied upon to score the orange like a madman.

Eric Gordon – He’s just $4,700 on FanDuel and although he’s playing terrible basketball as of late I really like that price and upside.

Troy Daniels – If Devin Booker misses the game tonight then Daniels should play a healthy amount of minutes with TJ Warren also missing. He has performed well in his last two starts with these two out, hitting 24-28 in both starts.

James Harden – If you don’t pay up for Anthony Davis you have to pay up for James Harden. I don’t see any reason to with Lou and CJ being in incredible spots (if Dame and Harris miss).

SF

Nemanja Bjelica – He’s in a good spot and is still playing heavy minutes at an affordable price tag on FanDuel.

Josh Jackson – He’s in play on both sites and I will be hard pressed to not find a way to roll him out. He likely plays mid-30’s minutes and he can go for 50_ in that role.

Jae Crowder – He’s cheap on DraftKings and could get a minutes bump tonight.

Harrison Barnes – He’s in play on FanDuel at $6,500 and without their primary scorer, Dennis Smith Jr. I can see his usage rate being near 30% tonight and he’s a nice pivot off Josh Jackson AND Bjelica for GPPs too.

PF

Anthony Davis – I am locking him in on both sites for my H2H matchups. Like LeBron last night, nobody has the ceiling he does and I normally want those guys for my H2H. Yes, I know Westy is on the slate and has the same ceiling, however, the probability of hitting that ceiling is likely a better description of why I like AD more. He just has a higher probability of going for 75+ tonight without Jrue and Cousins.

Nikola Mirotic – I likely will roll them both out as I love the spot their in and I like both of their price tags without Jrue taking upper-20% usage and 18-shots. Mirotic will be relied upon to be the de-facto second scoring option tonight with the first unit and lead the second unit in usage by a large margin.

Blake Griffin – He’s going to feast in this spot and I can see this being his best game yet. If there is any reason to run out Westy or Harden instead of AD it would be to play Mirotic (game theory that AD sucks or gets hurt) and then Blake in the second PF spot on FD. This is more of a GPP play but at this point in the season I lean heavier towards GPPs and H2H anyway, where raw points mean more so than does your overall floor.

Taj Gibson – He has good history against the Clippers and is priced down.

Carmelo Anthony – I can’t believe he’s down to $5,400, I like the spot he’s in and the price tag. He has a higher ceiling than Taj but a lower floor. Likely better for H2H’s for that reason.

C

DeAndre Jordan  and Clint Capela – They are my top two and only options I like in cash tonight on both sites.

GPP Pivots from the cash game pool – If creating one or two GPP lineups I would want to invest most of my tournament money into quintuples and then have each lineup in at least one large field GPP just in cash the lineup blows up and I could win a lot.

Here is a quick example of what my main GPP lineup might look like invested;

$5 single entry large field GPP
$20 – 10 entries into the $2x multiple entry quintuple
$12 small field Rebound GPP (49-entrants)

PG

Elfrid Payton – If Booker misses he’s in as good as spot as any to finally perform…

Ish Smith – I love the spot he’s in

Jeff Teague

Ian Clark

Damian Lillard and CP3 stack

Russell Westbrook – Run it back with Morris and Rozier (who likely get Westy and Carmelo defense because I think PG13 slides down to Tatum)

SG

CJ McCollum

Jamal Crawford

Shaw Harrison/Troy Daniels

Donovan Mitchell

James Harden

Luke Kennard – I dig his FD price range

SF

Joe Ingles

Nemanja Bjelica

Josh Jackson

Trevor Ariza

E’Twaun Moore (better on FD)

Maurice Harkless

Evan Turner – If Lillard and Napier both miss only

PF

Blake Griffin

Nikola Mirotic

Anthony Davis

Jae Crowder

Paul George (DK positionally I like him here)

C

Karl-Anthony Towns

DeAndre Jordan

Rudy Gobert

Al Horford

Steven Adams

Mike Muscala

Jusuf Nurkic

MME Advice for GPPs – As I continue to learn how to MME (mass multi-entry) and fine tune my strategies and process, I will continue to max-enter the .25 arcade on both FanDuel and DraftKings. Once I feel that I am confident in my abilities to quickly edit and upload my altered lineups right before lock – including pivoting my strategies and player exposure (ownership percentage) off late-breaking news, and am able to do so with success in the bankroll department, then and only then will I scale up and try another buy-in level. There is no rush in scaling up as there is zero end in sight for DFS and my ability to play it. This is the marathon of all marathons and I don’t want to treat this as a sprint.

At this point in the season, I believe cash games should really begin to take a back seat to GPPs and specifically, MME. If playing cash I would roll heavier on the H2H and not even touch double-ups and 50/50’s. H2H are where it’s at right now and you can survive a late scratch or injury surprise in that format. Ditto for MME if one of your guys gets scratched you still have a large percentage of your investment hedged naturally by spreading out your ownership.

For tonight, spread your ownership out and don’t go too heavy on any one player. It’s a great slate to expand your player pool for MME and don’t go overboard on any one guy.

Best of luck!
